    Stair lighting

Not at all. Discrete occupancy switches top and bottom could switch the light strip. Then there are various aluminium channels to contain LED light strips that could be recessed, eg: https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-Meter-Aluminium-Channel-for-LED-Strip-Light-with-Cover-PVC-Profile-5050-3528/202024985968? Unfinished of course but I'm doing it cheap as along the bath pocket: Tiles are just resting at an angle but you get the idea:
  2. Hornbeam I'm guessing? We planted a mixed native hedge. Half a dozen types that bear fruit at different times. Birds and insects love it. (Should have saved my money, ash, elder, slow and oak all seem to do a bloody good job of self seeding held together by ivy! )
  3. Tbh I quite like manual scything the old fashioned way. With my shirt off and glistening with sweat SWMBO likened me to Poldark.... 's HORSE!
  4. My mistake was doing it all sober.
  5. Perilously close to Kevin & Perry Go Large quote "Where do you find punk?"
  6. The Aqua Panels measure exactly 1200 x 900mm. Once I correct the panel on the mitre (cut the bottom to falls and move the outlet hole) I need to infill the bit on the left being propped by the long level. It's a 910mm gap. They say to leave a 3-5mm gap between Aqua Panels and fill with tile adhesive. On the face of it, quite literally then I'm bang on the money, 910-900=10mm so 5mm (gap) either side. BUT...where it meets the mitre facing panel it'll be a bit wider than 5mm at the back. A worry or not?
  7. -20. That's shite! A bit of brick acid might make it a bit more presentable.....or some black bitumen paint to cover it all up!
  8. It WAS going alright. Anyone spot the mistake? Some EBT on the edges of the pocket Aqua Panel: And on with the main bit: But then: EDIT: What I meant to say is how pleased I am my falls worked out to plan!
  9. @pocster does mine:
  10. All of 'em! The cess pool I think is over to the right where it gets thicker:
  11. As title. Looking to buy one of those 4 (5?) in 1, strimmer, brushcutter, hedge trimmer & chainsaw. Thinking around the £250 mark budget wise as in a make I can get spares for. Ideally not 2-stroke. Any suggestions?
  12. Could you use the old "soapy water on the inner tube" trick to find the leak(s)?
  13. With no more access to the eBuild forum I can't be sure of the exact date my concrete slab was poured though it was definitely pre May 31 2016. I think the slab should be cured enough for tiling by now!

    Stair lighting

Really such lights need to come on one by one as you walk up the stairs and go off once past. By running up and down really fast you can pretend you're in an episode of Knight Rider.
  15. Just realised that to finish insulating my wall I used up all the 100mm pir I removed from above the ceiling when I fitted the downlights, speakers etc. Seems a pita to have to buy a whole sheet to make good I'll shall have to keep an eye out for skips!
  16. I would imagine you will want A142 mesh or similar in your slab to limit it cracking for a start. UFH pipe is comparatively cheap. A LOT easier to put it in now than later when tbh wet UFH will be impossible. Pipe gets cable tied to the mesh. I'm thinking 75mm would be better 100mm or more, more room to play and more mass to act as a heat store if your insulation levels are good. I think there's some free UFH planning software available for you to work out your loops. Someone will comment on this shortly. Although pumped concrete have a look at @Construction Channel's thread/blog on a mesh/pipe system above PIR. Think he's the latest to do this. Read also @oranjeboom's stuff on what can go wrong in terms of pipe springing out of the slab etc. Again that was wet concrete. Cleverer people are reading this as we speak and will be along shortly to comment! Edit: Worth a read:
  17. For our avid readers it turns out that @newhome & I have mutual acquaintances if we go back far enough! We've just been doing the whole "small world" thing via pm.
  18. You might want to consider stainless steel fixing studs affixed with injectable resin. Much better if close edge distances etc. Less chance of break out. Edit: In one of @recoveringacademic's threads, the use of resin anchors into hollow blocks is discussed in depth I seem to recall inc the use of mesh sleeves / socks to contain the resin.
  19. Any make on them? Are they double pole?
  20. Aren't you building the wrong side of the Medway now? Been using the bath sans jets and lights for months now!
  21. A bit of pb slapped in ready to test: These fittings best be good!
  22. So you're from the same area as SWMBO, weird that you have such a GSOH. Mind, I bet you don't have a penchant for skip diving and collecting broken white goods!
  23. 127mm is the biggest Starrett I have here.
  24. That's my bath warranty f***ed then. Mind I think it might be well past it anyway!
