  1. Looks like A142? That's 200x200 squares, 6mm bars. Maybe the next time someone comes up they could give you a grinder lesson. Think Demi Moore / Patrick Swayze in Ghost! Start small with a 115mm grinder not a 9 or 12". Gloves and a face shield a must!!!
  2. That's enough for tonight. Something like this. The far lhs one is all soldered in. The lot to the right and to the rainfall head are "loose": The pass over tbh is half an inch off though it clears the cold feed fine. Should have come towards the rainfall head (by half inch): I'm actually going to redo the complete length to the rainfall head as that piece is one of the old "cat damaged" lengths. Our old she cat decided to pee on a box of 15mm copper I had laid along the bottom of a wall. The "green" wire wooled off OK but it's very pitted and even "lined". I could hear it "cracking" as I bent it. Not worth the risk, I'll redo. Has this crack in it too:
  3. Aerials, unless you live in a strong signal area are very definitely NOT much of a muchness. The sheds tend to sell "WB" models (wide band). They work best in the middle of the tv band but are not so good at the fringes of the band. Band specific work best over smaller, specific segments of the whole band. First stop for you is here: http://www.aerialsandtv.com As said above get the right one for your transmitter. You might already know what it is. You can usually take a stab by which way the rest are pointing. Find your transmitter which will give you your band the whether you're in a week / strong area. You might be "lucky" and a WB one will work fine.
  4. The rise and fall thing is going to have to come later if I haven't melted by then! Figured the rainfall head arm needed a bit more than half inch of pb to attach to so I folded up a bit of st/st kick plate: I just want to get water running through and the valves proved. The rainfall arm and head will need to come off again for plastering the ceiling anyway. For now I'll connect in copper but I've a 500mm braided flexi with an elbow coming to allow for the rise and fall thing later.
  5. Visible? It's having floor over it! + To be fair the loft is FULL of Hep2O and I've not seen any chewed yet but I'm intending gradually replacing it for peace of mind. Going soldered.
  6. Back on thread... Would I be wimping out if I used a copper push fit or compression elbow instead of soldering elbows on the ends of these pipes coming up thru the PIR? Left hand one is shown just assembled not soldered. The two on the right are closer together and closer to the joist: Thinking spray the wood with water from a plant sprayer then use the soldering mat. Safe? Got good light, an extiguisher and bfo back pack garden sprayer. Maybe lay a wet towel underneath too? It's the PIR I'm primarily worried about.
  7. Is there any possibility of running the ASHP pipes underground / in a hidden duct?
  8. This is a good piece on Kraftwerk: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/jan/27/kraftwerk-most-influential-electronic-band-tate
  9. Kraftwerk, now you're talking. Got loads on vinyl. On my bucket list to see them live. Amazing how many modern artists sample them. There's was a good article about Chris Martin from Coldplay approaching them to use Computer Love on "Talk". He said he was already starstruck and in awe of them plus dreading they would refuse permission.
  10. My youngest is very into Panic At The Disco. Surprisingly good.
  11. @Hecateh did you know who she was or look it up? If the former then well impressed!
  12. I can't! Take the back patio. Seemingly formed by casting concrete slabs in situ, it slopes towards the house rather than away from it! The cherry tree in the background is lifting it too: We keep saying "we'll give it another year" then the bloody thing comes back with more fruit than ever and the birds love it.
  13. Ah yes the easy way out! Too much time, money and sentiment already invested in the plot. It's a rollercoaster I can't get off / hole I can't stop digging!
  14. If I was to hypothetically apply to knock down and rebuild, in terms of "damage to the environment" what conditions might be imposed to mitigate this, particularly in terms of native fauna & flora? As we have: - Bats - Slow worms - Adders - Grass Snakes - Newts - Those bfo Roman snails (presumably from Lullingstone). - Dragonflies that look like they're from the Cretaceous period. - Orchids of a type on their own making us an SSSI. We're already in the Green Belt and an AONB. - Several mature trees, one close to the house. Tbh they're fantastic specimens, like the Tree of Life in Avatar but the nearest (and "best" imo) is I'm sure starting to lift a path with it's roots and threaten the house. They're also a handy jumping off point to the roof for squirrels. (One beech, three "firs" and a cherry all planted by the previous owner btw). Disturb or lift anything here and some creature will be residing there. Tbh I'd flatten and level the lot but leave a wildlife "haven" and perhaps large wildlife pond whilst being sensitive to rescue and relocation during the build. Is there a general document available anywhere that goes into all this? I imagine it involves experts coming down and charging me £££ for a start.
  15. Any aircon or ducting manufacturers near you? They might roll you a length of ali or zinc sheet you could prime & paint?
  16. I had a nice bath with Christina Novelli!
  17. Yep just looking at those in the catalogue. Don't suppose you recognise the bar mixer? The bit I need is less than a fiver online for a pair! https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exposed-Thermostatic-Shower-Bar-Valve-Easy-Fit-Shower-Fixing-Kit-Pair-EFK001/311067821140?hash=item486d164454:g:4nMAAOSwVtZaQ4ti
  18. B@LLOCKS! I swear I didn't go mad getting this off but it was a vice job to separate it from the back plate. It is knackered and I need a new one. Thread is stripped & it's split up the thin wall bit where the wrench flats are. Guessing I might have to buy a complete new bar mixer! Off to have a peruse thru the Screwy's etc catalogue & online.
  19. NOT so pretty the other side! Cracked tile and holes filled with "silicon": Not sure whether to CT1 or Sikaflex EBT these plates back on? It's ALL coming out eventually right back to studs/joists so ceiling, walls and floor will be re "boarded". Edit: CT1'd it all. Next time I touch it it'll all hopefully be coming out in favour of one of those 22mm thick tray things!
  20. You took the words right out of my mouth It's taken all f**ing day mind. No wonder plumbers get paid so much! And yes, the bend and double one both done in one: Edit: Got to be bloody careful not to open any of these valves as the sh!tty gate valves the other end are letting by!
  21. Gotta get this finished if I want a shower tonight! Working in a hot loft I need one too! Ready for soldering. Some cloaking board off cuts to protect the ply: A lick of paint and a polish up: TF for the olive splitter! Getting there. I'll probably put the flexis higher up so straighter: Got to take off the ensuite bar mixer now and add a couple of bends to get it back up and running.
  22. Myself, family and a couple of mates get our stuff from here: http://www.easygates.co.uk Everyone else's but mine is finished. I even robbed my kit to finish a mates off whilst he was waiting for a replacement part. Their service has always been second to none.
