  1. TRV on, arrow pointing up: Is this valve the right way up or does it matter?
  2. Me and a mate, just out of our apprenticeship had to "mastic" some brackets sticking out of a brick wall. We'd heard you used Fairy Liquid so went and bought a WHOLE BOX. We were squirting it on neat an making a right mess. The contractor went ape when it rained!
  3. The towel rail came with these fixings: I had put 4 chunks of 6"x2" in the wall to screw to, you can see them here, to the left of the studs and foiled over: Shown here roughly centred on the wooden blocks. Do we think it's a bit low? Thanks.
  4. Meanwhile back on Silly Street... 100mm of pir in the base of the trailer topped off with some ufh pipes. Next time it freezes connect to a handy pumped hot water source...home brew bfo solar thermal array? Tarp over the compost heap, dump the sand on that.....
  5. Light a fire under it. It'll melt the water in the sand so the fire won't damage the trailer... Honest! (Mods, can we have a tongue in cheek emoji please!)
  6. These tails have a captive nut on with the olive part-crimped in place. Looks to be a pig to get any PTFE tape on there.
  7. I've created some very simple solids in Draftsight then tried to work on then in AutoCAD. YOU CAN'T!
  8. Yep told her that. I reckon this Drayton one moves about 10-15deg either way if that. She's just Whatsapp'd me a minute ago and said she's whipped the actuator off and the spindle moves. Seems this Drayton one is a direct replacement for the BG one from what I've read. Actuators are interchangeable too it seems.
  9. They don't move a lot do they? Just had a look at this (new) Drayton one.
  10. With 17 turns of tape they went in really quite easy tbh then got "tight" at the end. Could likely have put a few more turns on.
  11. One of the kid's friend's CH/DHW has packed up. Single mum etc. Traditional pumped system, gas boiler, copper cylinder, 3-way valve. She's getting HW but only the 1st rad is getting warm and the second a bit warm. She reckons it sounds like there's a "nut" loose in what I assume is the air separator. Not sure on the valve make but the actuator is apparently easily removeable as in clip on/off: Existing pump. Assume the air separator above? The existing mid position valve: I have this Drayton one in the spares box. It's actuator clips on/off too. Would it be interchangeable? Cheers
  12. Your wish etc:
  13. Not my design. That Welsh git posted something similar and SWMBO saw it!
  14. Hiving this off from my "main" threads to save A N Other wading through pages to find such info. It's going roughly here: Assume I've the valves orientated correctly? How many turns of PTFE on these? The 20+ I did on the outside tape - brass to brass, when I did that and it felt fine. I did again 20+ when I did the wall outlet for the shower handset, again brass to brass and tbh it felt too much! The stand off, tubular brackets, should I add a drop of thread lock to these Allen screws? Cheers
  15. Forever White stinks and gives me a headache! Done the bath end & sides but think I might go over it again as a bit low. They were quite deep joints though.
  16. FFS he's doing a computer science degree living and breathing the stuff with like minded nerds. Hacking is part of the course. He'll just hack the neighbour's wi-fi.
  17. I'll ask him when he's back from uni. It's black magic to me.
  18. Admin password. Go figure.
  19. Full height pedestal. Chunk of 6"x2" in the dwarf wall to screw to:
  20. Bar mixer is simplest and cheap to replace. I'll be knocking out tiles if my concealed one goes wrong.
  21. I used to change the password on my BT router to curb my lad and next thing he'd hacked it. Gave up in the end.
  22. What's your thoughts on the dash of Fairy Liquid in water for smoothing silicone out of interest? I never know the ratio!
