  1. Also to make things repairable.
  2. I hope your eye op went ok? Been out all day and just got back to thinking about this. I like your drawing no 3 and would be my choice, and my comments are 1/ shower waste through one joist (next to a wall so carrying less weight IMO ) perfectly doable just glue and screw some 50mm x 25mm x 300mm to top and bottom of the joist to take care of compression and tension around the hole. 2/ basin waste in 32mm or 40mm + hot and cold buried in new IWI or deep skirting (IWI better all round for house insulation.) and out to the stack 3/ move toilet out to accommodate IWI. and re position if required. 4/ bath waste again buried in IWI along with hot and cold and out to the stack with regard the boiler, can you not prefab a board with insulation attached big enough to hang the boiler and to the floor (3/4” ply) and quickly fit it between the old boiler coming out and new boiler being hung? (Even if you pay the fitter a hour extra to make it worth your while) You can then IWI the rest of the cupboard afterwards. IWI great to insulate the room AND hide all the pipework, fit all pipes then just cut the insulation around them when fitting. as an aside, I am a convert from tiles to wall panels and would never go back.
  3. That’s got to make a huge difference. Planning always a pain in the ass.
  4. Can you not run it outside? If not one joist adequately strengthened will be doable yes including outside pipes /stack etc
  5. Valves 🤷‍♂️ in this day and age. And I thought I was a Luddite!!!
  6. I believe we mostly make our own luck.
  7. However, my plasterer had his van re possessed after getting stiffed on payment for a job and told me he could not work as he had no transport. He was due to do my job in 3 weeks. I took a punt and paid him in advance so he could buy a cheap van and do his work, and mine. He has been loyal ever since, even working evenings for me to get me out of a jam. I am sure he was an exception but I trusted my gut. So never say never.
  8. My “go to glue” is this, make the wood slightly damp and it expands into any gaps . https://www.toolstation.com/5-minute-polyurethane-wood-glue-gel/p78519
  9. They mostly do, you can get chrome bath waste and pipe as well as chrome floor to bath tap tubes to hide copper or plastic water pipes. Only if you don’t have room for a proper shower (IMO).
  10. +1, and will give you space to hide pipes within the insulation.
  11. Snap. Currently in my camo trousers and army jumper (my go to clothes) 🤣
  12. OMG I hate to think who people think I am.
  13. Or the kitchen is open plan and the “island” is the other side of the kitchen.
  14. +1 fir the above reasons, a table can be used for dining, sitting around or extensive cooking. ( I made mine, bloody heavy this English oak)
  15. Not at all, we all have different points of view, I have fitted bathrooms as a job for many years but I don’t live in your house 🤷‍♂️. I tend to address plumbing first as that’s the difficult part. I too have a corner shower with round door and find it works well (I hate tight shower cubicles). Battening out to make a corner square is relatively easy. https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/newark-offset-quadrant-shower-enclosure-only-various-sizes?&preSelected
  16. Welcome, interesting to hear how other countries are dealing with these issues.
  17. I would not be without my walk in shower, I like no 2, basin waste need only be 32mm which could fit in a deep skirting box (mine is). With a boxed in bath this deep skirting only needs to go from basin to bath. Then out the bottom wall and into stack outside, same with shower waste.
  18. +1, especially the shiny ones when it’s already covered in water, how can that breath?
  19. Also we feel different temps at different times of day. During the day and being outside an indoor temp of say 18’ feels warm, however after tea and slumped in front of the TV 18’ could feel cool. (I know I do).
  20. One wheel bearing for a BMW Motor bike I had was over a hundred pounds from the BMW dealer, the same bearing from the manufacturers was about £30 (SKF) and there are many on line bearing suppliers.
  21. Most houses connected to mains drains benefit from neighbours soil vent pipes which of course with a STP this does not happen. With mine I had a toilet in the detached garage and ran a soil vent pipe from that and an AAV in the house. Yes you could run a SVP up the outside of the house before it enters the house or run the SVP out through the roof which will give you a cold bridge but IMO only a small one.

    DPC Repair

A pic would help. However as long as the DPC is still intact damp should not be a problem and filing it should be ok. But if the DPC is still intact this is not the cause of the mould/damp 🤷‍♂️
  23. Can you not take the bearing out and go to a bearing supplier for a replacement, I have done this on motorbikes etc when not sure what bearing to order.
