  1. @zoothorn, just a thought,( can’t be bothered to go back over 64 pages) does your ASHP supply your DHW? Is that warm enough?
  2. Dave, I said this many many pages ago, I do feel zoot s frustration but as said many times it’s not for him to sort out, he is not a heating engineer. I would take this up with trading standards, grant organiser and Vaillant and threaten to go to the press (that usually wakes people up.)
  3. My heating is on 24/7 and controlled only by a room stat, I have a buffer tank permanently topped up by the ASHP with a stat set at 35’. I forced my heating on by upping this stat to give you a flow reading which as I said got to 42’. My system is different from yours (and I cannot make head nor tail of the controller, I even re read it this morning and got confused!!!). That 42’ was measured by a probe on the incoming pipe from the ASHP. My house is a new build with “passive” type insulation and airtightness so will be a world away from your stone cottage. I notice @ProDave gave you a flow temp above, if you cannot get near your set temp on your incoming hot pipe your ASHP is either not coping (too small) or set up wrongly. Either way you need to give Vaillant this info and get their response.
  4. Very cold here this morning , switched heating on by upping the room stat, flow temp creeping up, got to 42’ then went into defrost mode. House is still 21’ and outside Rh 86%.so not supprised. Now holding at 42’ (which is fine fir the buffer tank fir the UFH).
  5. Because the house is up to temp (21.5’) and DHW tank full of hot water (48’). Oh, and because the wood stove is lit taking the lounge up to 24.7k (phew). Even tho it’s freezing outside (I know because I just put the chickens in. Bbbrrrrrr.) smug emoji
  6. Mines not running at the mo, will get a probe on it next time I see it running ?
  7. @pocster, very nice dinner, I am jealous.
  8. Oh no there not! (Well not mine anyway). Keep up will you, page 61!!!, No, he is laughing his head off
  9. You beat me to it, ? Cut the back off so the face is good.
  10. No, my idea is best @pocster join the fecking cue! ?
  11. The problem with that is the screws are close to the pipe anyway so if the hole fir the pipe is larger the rawlplugs will break the brick/block away.
  12. I didn’t spot that one on acronym list? (But I think I worked it out).
  13. I had the same problem but was hoping it was just here. Yup, same here, inspector even said the planners were not following their own guidelines ????
  14. Having had a long drawn out fight with planners over my build, stick by your guns. Yes, re evaluate internals like @PeterW says and if that changes the frontage then all well and good. Go to committee first (get a local councillor to do this fir you) then go to appeal if all else fails, I did my own (not rocket science) and won ?.
  15. If you set your ASHP to deliver 55’ but are getting only 35’ there would appear to be a fault with the ASHP, I know these units tend to ramp up their temp so keep taking readings at regular intervals, then if still 35’ send this finding to Vaillant.
  16. Fit tap to pipe with ptfe tape, insert into hole in wall and fit screws/rawlplugs, cut pipe to length, fit compression or push fit pipe fitting to water pipe indoors ?
  17. Wot @PeterW said, plus, I like to fit the tap to the pipe before the pipe is fitted, this means the tap can be vertical which is difficult to achieve after the pipe is fitted .
  18. It was a joke zoot, you keep referring to my short little finger that struggles to reach the “o”. On my keyboard!.
  19. Having done re roofing for people I have come across this a fair bit, one house had black mould on bedroom walls near the ceiling and insulating like this cured it completely . It’s the attention to detail that makes the biggest difference. Well done.
  20. Same fir me ?????
  21. Yes, depends on how long ago your neighbour did theirs, insulation levels are going up all the time (quite right too). Post the drawings up here and there are guys here who know the regs.
  22. You can do “building notice” and get stuff passed as you do it but I prefer “full plans “ this means they pass everything you want to do so you get no nasty surprises half way through.
  23. I have fought planners several times over loft conversions, you do not need planning for dormers on the rear or sides of a house (even tho some planners say you do. )
  24. Right, (in my opinion) fit the hinges to the door, so the hinge pins are in line, as the door edge should be straight!. Offer up the door with hinges fitted and recess the frame fir the hinges as appropriate. Does your frame bow in or out in the middle?
