I can’t understand what this solenoid is for ? Have you got a link to the instal instructions?
-
At least that would run 24/7 unlike solar or wind, unless it dries up in the summer 🤷♂️
-
I guess so as long as you don’t want it MCS certified 🤔, no fit anymore so why would you?
-
The Vortex comes with a timer that switches between the two, no idea about your Klargester 🤷♂️, what does the instal manual say?
-
No, he finished my turnbuckles 😇
-
He does complete instals but when he wired my build said he would just connect mine and check it if I wanted.
-
Yes, a local company and the chap actually had a vortex himself. He just balanced the blower as it’s adjustable
-
Personally I have no intension of seeking MCS sign off I only included this because getting DIY work signed off for various schemes has sounded problematic in the past. I would self instal and get my tame lecky (who does solar instals) to check it out/connect it fir me.

Just been reading up on this and found this sentence interesting….. The Act contains no enforcement procedures for failure to serve a notice. However, if you start work without having first given notice in the proper way, Adjoining Owners may seek to stop your work through a court injunction or seek other legal redress. Yes you are digging within 3 meters of their footings and as long as yours is no deeper than the 45’ rule you don’t need to mitigate your design. Your neighbour is just being a pain in the arse and as they won’t answer the Door don’t try being nice anymore, if your building inspector is happy I would crack on and let them do the running re “legal redress”.

I self installed our plant blower etc (vortex) and it’s dead simple. I mounted my blower box on gravel, below ground to hide it and the gravel is to stop flooding the unit in case of heavy rain etc.
-
Depends on milage I guess 🤷♂️. Does the MCS ticket cover the structural integrity of the roof ? Or simply the quality of kit and installation?
-
Wow that looks really good , I nearly built one a few years ago. ( I still have the wheels) A good start to thinking about building your own home 🤔

As I have said previously I am thinking about installing solar PV on my garage roof, @ProDave installed his own (and got a bike shed out of it as well) I just came across this on fleabay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323762945539?hash=item4b61c67e03:g:tZoAAOSwiwZcG6G6 Which seems a good price but interestingly enough I also came across this in the fine print Not that I am thinking of using FIT We offer full MCS commissioning from £345 meaning you can self install the system and we can sign it off

How to board loft - advice please!
joe90 replied to Porthole's topic in Lofts, Dormers & Loft Conversions
Ah, @Porthole is your roof built with trusses or not? Could make a big difference (I was not thinking of trusses 🙄) -

If they are at 90’ to existing ceiling joists this will load you existing ceiling a fair bit (IMO), I would not do it unless they are supported at intervals/ends. Despite building regs (which are dire at best) 270/300mm insulation is far better as said above. Most builders are not knowledgable on modern insulation/airtightness and just do the minimum allowed by regs 🤷♂️ -
All full fill cavity insulation should have a BBA certificate stating they don’t wick, I have rockwall batts full fill and had a water logged brick wall but the insulation stayed dry.
-
+1, you won’t get anywhere being nice.
-
Yes, the poor (me included) can’t afford to pay others to do the work but non poor people can 🤷♂️. Go figure

It is private rental but they found out about this little advertised gov scheme here….ukenergy.co.uk 👍
-
@HughF, My builder had a bad stroke after finishing my build and will never work again, he and his wife live in a rented bungalow with storage heaters, they have just been offered additional loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and new electric heaters (E7) all through a gov dept, I can find out how/who are offering this if you wish?

How does your garden grow?
joe90 replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
I have found gardening Very good for mental health. I built raised beds using scaffold planks as ours is heavy clay, yet to sow seeds tho 😳 -
It would be better if he reduced VAT on all insulation.!

That Bostik type stuff cleans Mortor stains as well so may clean up after your coping stone bedding 🤷♂️

Sorry but how long is a piece of string??, depends on how many coats have been applied and what’s under it, I doubt anybody could give you an accurate answer.
