  1. Interesting Gary. Next door to us, we have a landowner who built a dwelling house INSIDE his caravan. He also managed to build an open-to-air cesspit which he allows to overflow onto the track next to his land. It never gets pumped. The cesspit is so big that it's visible on Google Maps. I wrote to the Planning Department several times. The local LPA simply shrugged. Enforcement Appeal to be heard on the 23rd of this month.
  2. Who are ... 'they' ? Is the pole the subject of a covenant, if so what date was the covenant issued, and what does the covenant say? I ask about the date because if the covenant is about to lapse, then your problem could well change.
  3. RAL 7016. Mid Grey.
  4. When I played with mine I learned that I needed to 'tune' it really carefully to make the best use of the results. It was very surprising to see my own heat signature reflected by the glass in the window infront of me. I could tune that distracting information out by altering the sensitivity range of the sensor.
  5. It's whatever the nearest woman says it is. Me coats almost on ..... byeeeee
  6. Fings is lookin' up.... One whole 48p's worth of PV generated by lunchtime for the first time this year. Snowdrops are poking their heads up , and Rees Mogg isn't on the radio every bleedin' day. Whass not ter like?
  7. Peeping Tommery innit .....
  8. This shower-head is calcifying a bit ......... and Geberit have told me that the guarantee is invalid if we've used 'strong' chemicals to decalcify it. Asked what 'strong ' is , answer came there none. Asked for a recommendation, answer came there also none. I suggested the loo decalcifier that you have to use with Geberit bum-washers. Answer "Whassat" And at Β£14 for a few ml of the Geberit Bum-Wash-Bog-Cleaner over a few years, that makes the cost of ownership more expensive than the original purchase. Is there something simple that will take the calcium away but won't destroy the oscillating mechanism inside the head?
  9. Wish I could take my own advice sometimes πŸ˜‘
  10. Yes. Add affordability to design errors, project management errors, plain simple disasters, naivete, hip replacement(s) and Beep "Hooston, we gat a prablum" Beep. There's nowt else for it. Just Bloody Do It. Myself. Both of us have faced (and faced down) and beaten huge problems before. This is just another one . We wince, grizzle and niggle regularly, but then Friday night comes along - (International Party Night) , Saturday recovering, Sunday planning. And then along comes a few successes: (piling Β£6.5K when Β£22K was the average, successful insurance claim from a wall collapse, cracking architect, kind passers-by, good mates making stuff for me to dig me out of the soft and smelly, good local chippy, excellent orthopaedic surgeon) Not having enough money makes me think - much harder than I normally would. And thats an asset.
  11. Well founded founded persistence always brings increasing resilience in it's wake. You just get better at it. There will be many similar tests. Remember your previous success. It's the foundation of tomorrow's.
  12. And so much better than extended silence followed by unanswered phone calls. Building a house pushes everyone involved, even when things are going well. Can your ex-builder put you on to anyone?
  13. I remember a post by @TerryE advising us to - after 6 months or so - going round to check the tightness of terminal screws. And I thought - well I winced - 'tain't gonna ' appen pal. An' anyway the man's retired innee... Hmmmm.
  14. You and yer Flemish blonds Russ πŸ™„
  15. Go on, show me. I dare ya. Found that out the very hard way. 2 CUs, 20 circuits in each. 28 used so a fair few spare. Every one on an RCBO. Winced a bit when the bill arrived. But, DeleteTheExpletivePlease(expletive deleted) [thanks very much] It, overall its not worth worrying about.
  16. Right. Thank you very much for that post. You've set me off on yet another steep learning curve. It might be useful for me to pull together a couple of images, one of a ring circuit and the other a radial circuit and post them here so that others can have a look at what you are talking about. There is so much in your post above which I just don't understand, by that I mean fundamentally don't understand.
  17. Dunno if I'm just a bit pissed ... but anyone have a mental image of their children / grand children 'havin' fun' on that Leccy Ladder Thingy ?
  18. May I play Devil's advocate then please @Radian ? What's wrong with a (my) ring then?
  19. Electric circuits - loads of them πŸ‘ Sockets - loads of them πŸ‘ Are they in the right place? πŸ‘Ž "Oh but, I want that [...] there now, not where we planned it ..... soz .." Weak smile. "Needs an extension then dunnit. Grrrrr." Rinse repeat. I'm not prepared to admit how often I've smiled disingenuously , swearing under my breath, gone out to the workshop, got another extension out and fitted it. (6) Whassa point of asking what electrics she wants where at the design stage? None. None AtBloodyAll Wimmin change their minds all the foggin' time. Another self-build dream down the plug'ole innit. Phhhhhhhhhhhhh. Is it me - it is innit ....?
  20. From the article There in black and white: the rationale for keeping your cool and focusing on your opponent's message, and not on how it's delivered.
  21. Welcome. Right place, right time .... should be able to waste at least half your life on this board. I have πŸ˜™
  22. Is this the problem you need to solve..... ? How to seal - waterproof - the gap between the bottom of the cladding and (probably) the path round the house We used Ubiflex. Its good stuff. Bit expensive, but cheaper than lead.
