Welcome. PCs; their responses and public musings in relation to planning issues are commonly criticised. Almost by definition parochial, and very often, just plain wrong. Why do I say that? Have a look at this Oh, and before I forget this.... Having read your blog, it looks like we could have plagiarised one another's content. We'd been waiting since 1985 for PP. Yer pushin' on an open door here maam. You are most welcome. Ian

And @jack, don't decant the HCl into a container with a leak in; even a pinhole-size leak eh?.

The muddy phase of our build is about to start. And hoping to reduce the amount of extra cleaning to be done in our cottage, I'm attempting to encourage folk to clean their boots before they come into our kitchen for tea and sympathy. To do that I need to make the cleaning process easy and quick. The prospect of @MrsRA standing there with a rolling pin and a look of thunder on her usually smiling countenance - shouting "Get em off !" and me countering "Have you seen how clean they are?" does not appeal. How have you managed it?

I suppose you could work back from a price of (say) £1350 per square meter for the complete job? The most common average price for a build seem to range between £1200 to £1500. There are always local variations as a quick read of SPONS will testify.

On the basis of this post @TerryE, we'll have fixed shower heads - for a while. -

Hmmmm. I'd 'felt' that might well be a factor. Might need to stray into the political realm then. Damn.- 35 replies

@Triassic, they take cold water only, or preheated water.

Because.... ? (remember Germans have no sense of humour reportedly)

Shoes lined up in the morning, shirts all pressed to perfection, tooth brush colour-coded, neatly spaced ties in the tie rack, bread well-polished? I admire you both.

I am looking at my HEP2o sample as I type this. With online help available from @Nickfromwales, and wait for @TerryE to make and report a few mistakes, what's not to like? We're using electric underfloor heating. With a SunAmp for @MrsRA's nightly excursion to the paddling pool, that means we don't need to store any hot water, and almost no hot pipe runs anywhere. Local water heaters under each sink. Which means HEP2o will only need to deliver cold water, except for the hot water run (1000mm) from the SunAmp to Debbie's bath. Yes, @JSHarris taught me a lot, and saved me a few thousand pounds.

George Formby. I had one customer who played the tune on his banjo every time I arrived. He was the Channel 4 Racing commentator then... name forgotten. -

The window cleaner. Meths'll get it sorted. As some may know I spent 7 years cleaning windows to keep the wolf from the door while studying. Customers regularly asked me to do little 'extras'. Don't ask. -

Thanks everyone for your contributions. Quite apart from the legal and technical aspects of the issue, it's very reassuring to have access to so many people with whom I can share a problem. None of you had to respond. Ian- 35 replies

People construct their own online Learning Networks, @Ferdinand. And what people learn from any resource is not always what the producer intends. I always bless @Construction Channel : he has no idea how much his vidoes have taught me about building. I have watched almost all of them 3 times - and each time I learn something new. Poor Faye for one thing

and boys This is what Our Local King of Planning says is happening (in an email copied to me) - the applicant made an application to add a house to the site , and because he did that a blind eye was turned to the caravan. But that application failed. Magically, the caravan is needed to support the build of the stable. And absolutely no progress in building is being made- 35 replies

Thanks @Temp, I was hoping for a dose of clarity from you. I read a hint into Not so difficult if photographic evidence of inaction , complete with EXIF data (meta tags) were to be obtained. Perhaps? Ian- 35 replies

ToughButterCup replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Planning Permission
To quote the head of planning; '.... Unfortunately [... name...] is currently using Part 4 of the General permitted Development Order to justify the caravan remaining on site. This allows for the provision on land of buildings, moveable structures, works, plant or machinery required temporarily in connection with and for the duration of operations being or to be carried out on, in, under or over that land or on land adjoining that land....' and '... If the works are either permitted development, or have the benefit of planning permission then even if [s/he]is carrying out those works at a slow pace, that would be sufficient to allow [...] to remain with [his/her] caravan on the site. ...' I can't see the logic either - the works are in progress in relation to a stable. I could see the logic if the issue were to be in relation to a house.- 35 replies

Thanks. I got cross a few hours ago but it's gone now. It's the fair-play issue which gets to me most. And you are (all) right diplomatic nudges are the way forward. Now, where were those Thunderflashes a mate acquired for me a few years ago?- 35 replies
