864 or 762: wassa' difference?
ToughButterCup replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Doors & Door Frames
Yes, I appreciate that. That's why we have designed the downstairs such that a small area off our downstairs sitting room can be sectioned off to create a bedroom - right next to the downstairs wet room. I know it's a bit morbid - but I intend to snuff it in our house, and I don't want the paramedics to skin their knuckles - hence no internal doors downstairs.- 31 replies

Why not go the whole hog mate.....

102mm, well done. Pass Go, collect £100. Its not a deliberately stupid question. Everywhere we go , I've recently been surreptitiously measuring door widths. I try hard not to let Debbie see me do so - not entirely successfully. Door widths are important - but 102mm difference? Does so little make so much difference? Why not 964? Thinking about bedrooms upstairs, why would I choose 864 over 762? Yep, I'm of a certain age, yep, the usual is happening.

Nice idea. Very nice idea. The rafters are exposed (albeit under something like Kloeber Permoforte) ? There will be some fitting that works well - use that - and then cap it off with code 5 lead? As usual, I'm short on detail.....

That's an excellent filter. If he says he wants it - but not at the minor expense of a bit of paper, then in reality he doesn't want it. Call his bluff.

Sourcing Torx screws: 150mm
ToughButterCup replied to ToughButterCup's topic in General Construction Issues
Oh for "%^&*()_!" sake..... I'm really tired - obviously. Thanks Ian -
Getting any old 150mm screws (Crosshead, POSI) is easy. But I would like to use Torx screws because of my digital deviance. (Too long a story ) And I'm tearing my remaining hair out trying to source T25 Torx screws 150mm. Ideas?

Now: train the kids to mow it. Ours: " Get a ride-on and we'll think about it" Me: " OK, come and help me choose one - shop's round the corner" Silence, followed by a really fast disappearing act

Plasterboarding on yer lonesome ....
ToughButterCup replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Four storeys? And here's me whingeing like a big handmaiden ! Mine's 2 and a bit. I have built an internal scaffold : part KwikStage, part trestles and KwikStage scaffold boards. Time for some pics (a la @Onoff), I think. Steep learning curves, I luv 'em. -
Plasterboarding on yer lonesome ....
ToughButterCup replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the responses. I have yet to underboard the joists of the vaulted area with 80mm of insulation, and then put the PB (the subject of this thread) on top of (underneath) that. Debbie points out that if I plan it well enough, maybe I can arrange it such that the smaller pieces of PB go into the apex of the roof. It's not that big ... about 10 square meters. ' You aren't the roughy-toughy you once were, dear ' she said hi-tailing it out the door to work this morning. Revenge will be served, cold, sometime later this week. -

Oh..... looks like I need to give this some more thought then dunnit? -
OK, @lizzie , @Hecateh , @newhome , @Pete and a few others yer just going to say MTFU. Now that you've got that off your chests, I need to tell you that I have a vaulted ceiling to do : top is 4m off the deck, bottom about 2m. I don't mind heights - I respect them, and it's nowhere near as bad as some of the tricks I've pulled before now. But lifting boards into place when already on an internal scaffolder tower? I was wondering what you thought of one of these? Worth it?
