  1. None of the data I have read mentions gas usage per Kw of heat and electricity produced although average efficiency across the year is reported as 192%... the cost of unit is quite high. Just about to start building and with the £7000 grants coming in April 2022 it might be an easier and more consistent solution than PV with ACHP.
  2. Its good to see comments based on knowledge of the product NOT... it uses Natural gas to split and takes the hydrogen to feed fuel cell while retrieving exothermic heat to heat a water tank.
  3. Anybody any experience with vitovalor pt2 hydrogen chp units? Cost, reliability, benefits?
  4. Most tanks are designed that once the main tank body is concreted or strapped then you just backfill above with soil or gravel. I would worry the tank is not strong enough if it had to be light weight backfill
  5. sewage treatment plant?
  6. I used a manual mortar gun and that was great if your mix was right but terrible if wrong and would hydraulic in tube, an electric one would burn out pretty quick if you get mix wrong.
  7. what about render mesh...big rolls but easy to cut, and probably a darn site cheaper
  8. Looking at outside not inside
  9. My thermally broken windows are going to sit with 15mm overlap on exterior block wall but the cavity closer extends 25mm past the window exterior. Has anybody had experience of rendering on to Cavity closer upvc?
  10. Have you used the plastic star ones above on EPS? do they dig in to EPS when standing on mesh?
  11. Zig Zag
  12. anybody used Zig Zag Plastic Chairs for placing reinforcing mesh on EPS foundation insulation? any problems standing on mesh during concrete pour?
  13. Anybody recommend an EPS supplier who supplies 70,100 and 300Kpa and will cut to size?- preferably north England. my provisional supplier seems to have gone..

  15. Doesnt it piss you off that such an important thing in life like an electricity connection is not standardised to government standards...Oh shit, its just like planning and that's not even privatised.
  16. Aint nobody running uncompressed UHD video in a household at 18Gbits/s...even 4K/8k has got a new super duper compression codec for low transmission overhead... the thing with audiovideo technology is the capacity of coders/mathematicians (mainly BBC!) to constantly improve lossless compression enabling higher value products to customers with slow internet connections. Ill give you the other points...
  17. Seemingly Northern power are twats...including there own tile tape at stupid price.
  18. Why run multiple cables to each room, just use a passive switch..
  19. what size hockey stick did you use? Northern power have said I need 125mm but yours appears much smaller.
  20. any body had recent quotes on labour costs to compare wet plaster vs dry lining and skim?
  21. Got an issue where the PO has pushed us to accepting a crap colour for our render as he believes it should reflect the agricultural purpose of the original building, to speed things up we just accepted as he has not removed the PP development and this should allow us to change colour once signed off by building Inspector. The condition only states 'the condition is discharged subject to implementation'..so not in perpetuity. Building Inspector has suggested just doing it the colour we want in the first place as he is only interested in technical. Anyone got ten penneth on this?
  22. should have explained in more depth- the web joist would entail 2 joists, 1 on sat on each cavity wall with osb on sides, top and bottom, so a structural box which can be filled with eps bead
  23. I have a 4.6m opening in new build with non loadbearing timber 1m high wall above. SE specified 2 9 x2 timbers as lintel with timber frame above...I was wondering if using a web joist as lintel would be just as good and easier. Any thoughts?
  24. Have you had the sliders fitted yet? I assume the aluminium sliding and bifold doors will be fixed through frame base- they are both sitting 75% within cavity.
  25. Just been hit with compac foam doubling in price for threshold insulation. I have some Kingspan greenguard GG500. Does anyone have any experience using it in thresholds? How well does it hold framing screws?
