  1. @Iceverge No i love them. They are far enough away to not be a problem.
  2. Can't help with a consultant but first thing i would do if have a look at what windows you think you might effect on the neighbouring properties. When it came up on mine, i was able to say that the only things i would effect would be an entrance hall, a downstairs w.c. An upstairs landing, bathroom, and One bedroom, but that also had another window on another elevation. Planning dropped the request then.
  3. As @Conor says. look to big. much more like Hemp put into the casting to add strengh.
  4. Can you get access to the roof easily ? You have to take care of the safety aspect of you jumping up there with a couple of tubes of whatever fella. It's not right at the top of the house is it ? Hopefully, a flat roof area above a single storey bit. I fitted a bloody expensive aluminium roof lantern. Asked the supplier what size externally the hole needed to be. When the blinking thing arrived it was exactly the size of the hole that i had built. No blinking overhang. actually, in view of the rubber membrane which came up the upstand, it was actually slightly smaller than the opening. I feel you pain... I thought about getting some sort of aluminium frame made up that would increase the size, but in the end i ran some of the rubber roofing non setting mastic around it. Still ok after about 8 years.
  5. Will cutting the tops encourage them to grow taller ?
  6. Fantastic. I love that. What a great idea.
  7. Would anybody be able to point me in the direction and provide a link to the "Harris heat loss calculated spreadsheet thing. i assume i can then download it and get a competent person (wife) to fill it in for me ? Thanks
  8. I also think that a porch would make a huge difference.
  9. I think that the whole sides of my van are glued on with Tigerseal. No welding.
  10. I'm not on any other forums. Can only just use a computer, and can't find the info i need on the interthing. I have got about 140 laurel trees on two sides of my property. I planted them about 5 years ago. They are great. About 10ft high, and about 1meter thick. Would any of the Green fingered bods know when i should cut them. They are thick enough, but i want to get them as tall as possible. If this is out of order Mods, feel free to delete it. Cheers Big Jimbo.
  11. @SteamyTea and Double sided tape is about 0.0 Wm.k even better.
  12. Well done fella. now time for a beer.
  13. It's called a minor admendment, and the submission for will be available on your councils web site. If you have a condition about your windows that you don't comply with, that could prove very expensive.
  14. Just do weedkiller a couple of times a year on the gravel area.
  15. I know that nano tech has moved on a huge amount from say 20 years ago. I know that they now have Nano's that when entered into the body will be able to remove some nasty bits. i questioned how we can make machines so small. They are not machines, they are organisms that are grown. The breakthrough will come when they work out how to coat them to stop our bodies rejecting them. Might still be a way off, but eventually...... There is that other type of paper that has some form of weaved metal central section to combat damp.
  16. Only if you squint @joe90
  17. @markc I had no idea that the bubble actually changed size in relation to the temp. Interesting.
  18. If you cant see because it has already been plasterboarded or whatever. poke a hole through with a bradall, or a small dril. If it's not tiled yet, than it's easy enough to sort out now.
  19. Even the Stabila expensive one's seem to have quite a gap either side of the bubble to the lines.
  20. Would be great, if it did make a considerable difference. Thinking of my daughters 1882 little place. Solid walls, and bloody freezing.
  21. There is not usually any track. The hinges on the doors normally handles the function. Different types of hinges are used depending on what type of kitchen you are fitting.
  22. Internet. West sussex county council.......Search function. Dropped Kerb.......... All the information you need will follow.
  23. I would go and give your builder a pat on the back. Most, don't even consider where you might be mounting things.
  24. Dropped kerbs are dealt with by the HIghways dept. Not the planning Dept.
  25. You do not have an application in for a dropped kerb. That needs to be your next step. If you don't do this your current application is likely to get refused. As the council has deferred your application, speak to the planning officer and ask her to hold your current application untill you put in a application for a dropped kerb and get an answer of that. First step. fill in an application for a dropped kerb........Ask the planning officer to hold your current application untill you get an answer on your new application. You may need to employ a specialist to help you with the application for a dropped kerb.
