  1. Lovely looking house (bar perhaps the 'prison window'!) - great work.
  2. Not sure the exact nature of the project but given it seems like you have the means then the best idea might be to find the craftsman behind similar projects, provide the materials and pay a day rate until the job gets done to the high standard required? There must be plenty of good carpenters in London fancying a bespoke bit of work.
  3. Thanks - so just cutting the excess away then and have more plastic to lap the blockwork?
  4. Can't see anything either way in the reviews, can you use both sides of a product like this if you cut it at 50mm?
  5. Great, will have a look. For upstairs so no UFH.
  6. Any recommendations for LVT underlay?
  7. Also requires (almost) twice the time and a bit more cost. Trade-offs everywhere in this self-build lark!
  8. Is this just installed like resilient bars?
  9. I've searched locally too - and should have said I don't have access to a van or a day to travel to England for it. By the time you price your time, van hire and fuel then it certainly adds up on. Thanks.
  10. Lewis looks a more robust alternative.
  11. I'm not sure if I'm looking in the wrong places but not finding anything second hand on eBay or gumtree.
  12. Boss Youngman version here costing 125% more for the equivalent 7.2m towers.
  13. That seems to be the case - just wondering if anyone has experience of these 'industrial' versions as the branded equivalents are about two or three times the price.
  14. Has anyone ever used their scaffold towers? I had a DIY version delivered which our joiners refused to open suggesting the cheap versions are rubbish but considering purchasing one of their industrial versions: https://www.laddersandscaffoldtowers.co.uk/acatalog/3T-Industrial-Scaffold-Towers.html or https://www.laddersandscaffoldtowers.co.uk/acatalog/8-Rung-Industrial-Towers.html. Costs for scaffold tower hire by the time we're finished will likely be comparable with buying one outright but given previous experience I'm a bit dubious as to whether it'll do the job - initially need to support window fitters but thereafter to be used alongside a panel lifter for fixing insulation and plasterboard, then to work off for tape and filling, painting etc.
  15. Scotland.
  16. Engineer has specced it as an RSA but basically anything that can connect to the steelwork and support facing brick above the cantilever, yes. Will have a look there - thanks.
  17. We've a cantilevered entrance which means we'll need an RSA to support the facing brick. Any advice on suppliers, any issues to consider etc? Brickies coming in mid-January so belatedly doing my homework on this now - any thought appreciated.
  18. Just had my invoice in for a pallet of 12.5mm I bought too at £7.20 so not too bad. Made the mistake of lifting in the pallet and a half of 15mm stuff after the lighter board and can confirm the robustness is worth the extra cash!
  19. I paid £9.60 for 15mm board (albeit for tapered which Google suggests is a wee bit dearer than square) so only slightly more than Moonshine but your price is making me feel like I've been done! Cheers!
  20. Our merchant says plasterboard is up 17% and insulation 10% in January. Have ordered all our 15mm boards for the ceiling earlier than intended to beat the rise. Out of interest, what price are others paying per board from their merchants (I've not shopped about as they're good to deal with and prices always a fair bit cheaper than I can find online)?
  21. Thanks - what I was looking for and can only just about work it out so would have struggled to do it myself!
  22. I'm adding insulation to a SIPs kit. Had previously planned on adding 60mm everywhere but now considering going to 100mm in the roof. Cost difference approximately £700. Kingspan used to have SIPs as an option on its online u-value calculator but this has now disappeared. Is there an alternative calculator available and/or one which estimates the cost-benefit of doing so?
  23. Given ICF is inherently airtight then you will need MVHR to ventilate the house and get rid of moisture, I'd have thought.
  24. Looks great - particularly love the chestnut fencing.
  25. According to my schedule the bog standard Rationel Auraplus front door at £1300 has a u-value of 0.59.
