-
This is one of about thirty large ceilings that I quoted to redo on a block of apartments We just redid the worst ones The agent said they looked good till they were painted Speed floated The irony was that we were undercut for the original job
-
I agree with Dave Poor No sanding I skimmed five bedrooms last week There will be no ripples or filling To many are one coating and running over the skim with plastic float or spatula

Floor screeding, why so late in the build process.
nod replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Floor Structures
No I’ve worked on sites were they have screeded without being watertight But ideally you need to be watertight if only to keep the screed from getting damage in the first 48 hours -

Normally you would screed the floors as soon as watertight Though some do plaster down to damp course and screed after the plastering is finished I can never understand this as you are losing months of natural drying time -
I normally adjust my stilts so that my head is about 300 mil off the cieling
-
No mix a small amount fill any joints or beads then add your water for the cieling or wall Add some creama Stair it well Then add powder as normal
-
Forgot to say always coat the joints with a separate mix Even on a small cieling Tapered edge always show if you don’t
-
Top tip Get a tub of cream of tartar Half a tea spoon per bag Makes the finish easier to use and acts a a retarder

If your happy with the price per mtr It shouldn’t matter what they earn per day Stone work and Brickwork is a thankless task They May have days were it’s torrential rain and lay few or nothing

Mine are all Hilton The Green beam I bought for £1600 plus vat 10 years ago The green beam is much easer to see and the receiver will pick it up at a 100 mtrs Two clicks and it will scan and draw the beam in If you have setting out work that needs to be very accurate it’s worth hiring a kit for the day Hilti Topcon Spectra
