If you could buy tiles from anywhere?! Porcelanosa?
nod replied to Gemmando's topic in Floor Tiles & Tiling
Tiles made in Italy are fired for longer and are the best prints Tougher and better to work with Spanish tiles are the next level Then comes Turkish and Portuguese Some of the Turkish are on par with Spanish Stay away from tiles made in China Brazil UAE also -
Absolutely fine Your scaffolding should be right under the soffit So no chance of anything falling through You could stand some ply in front of f doors bifold etc
-
I’d put a recent post on regarding pattresses Direct from the saw mill a £12 sheet of 12 mil ply has gone up to £18 Still less than half of some of the BMs
-
Cant help with the SW But going direct to the saw mills can reduce the cost by 50% on orders Certainly of Structual ply
-
Welcome We are also considering GSHP 170m2 ground floor It’s my understanding that the pump would supply hot water to the UF and 4 bathrooms We also hate PV Planners insisted we have it in our first build But took a.chance and left it off BC really didn’t care either way
-
Timber has just dropped 46% in the US Prices here will drop when demand drops We looked at TF for our next build But found them to be far more expensive than traditional That was pre Covid Using timber for anything isn’t a great option at the moment
-
A real mile stone Well done
-
I’d make them cheaper and more solid and I would wait for timber prices to fall Just seen an add on FB Someone has 11 Knackered sheets of 18 mil OSB Will take £500 ? Reminds me of The multi finish being sold online at £25 a bag Now back down to £5.75 a bag
-
It’s the same everywhere We've friends that have come back from living in Africa and they have been living in a hotel for 11 weeks With no sign of a rental
-
Interesting Thanks for Sharing We will have to watch how this unfolds
-
Yes 240 I could understand more if the stat was falling But it works fine when I try it on another plate I’m building up a collection of stats
-
I wondered if anyone else has had a problem with these stats I had one pack in after three months and another after eighteen Three years on two different ones have failed The curious thing is that when I get a replacement The stats are fine It’s the back box that has failed Is this something that anyone else has come across Can the back boxes be purchased separate

Pasquil Roof Trusses from Chorley
nod replied to jack1962's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
I was thinking the same attic trusses for 9x9 garage and hose trusses came to 15 k plus vat another quote came in at 2k less for garage and nearly 3k for the house Companies are using price hikes to add more on top for themselves BB supply quote is nearly twice last time I contacted a company nearly hundred miles away for a supply and fit quote Including them paying for a crane I used a borrowed digger last time They are coming out at less than a grand plus vat more Ive gone back to the original supplier They think they may of quoted for both plots ? Ive only budgeted 3.5 k plus vat for 175m2 -

4K more expensive than the nearest quote So won’t be using them this time -
Just getting quotes for the supply of trusses and two vaulted ceiling’s We used Pasquils last time as they are local to us I expected material costs to be higher than last time Two identical quotes one with Pasquil Tge other with Anscar Also local 4K difference Whilst material costs have gone up considerably Some companies are looking to make a quick buck
-
U could use MF I stud Or Met-set (Structual) and clad with the material of your choice
-
One of the best Joe Came in at 270k also Shocking site to build on
-
You do need the outer skin If only to house the vents for the B&B You could always use common brick if your not bothered how they look
-
I’m guessing your tiler is pretty inexperienced A real basic error Hopefully he can get them looking half decent
-
I think he may end up taking the tiles up He should know that you have to be so careful with limestone
-
I’m not sure how he will remove the sealer If it was applied correctly Two coats 3 hours apart It will have soaked right through the tile
-
Limestone should be left to dry out before sealing them grouting 2-3 days
