A qualified plumber..
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in General Plumbing
I'll ask the plumber. There was a little dig at us when I tried to discuss the tap "I've only ever fitted new ones" (because our kitchen and tap was ex display). I mean what difference this makes I've no idea.... -

No idea but it wasn't like this on display and this is the picture from the installation and Quooker and Cube with how it should be.... -

Not sure on what the cause of the leak is/was. Went last night to find now the pull out hose won't work on the Quooker tap because everything is jammed in and something was wedged. Our builder just queried the set up on the pic with the plumber who muttered something about it supporting pipework as it's too heavy. He is currently having a tantrum over our large sink in the utility (the one you recommended @PeterWbecause 'its Chinese') and the Grohe pull out tap because it's not a normal one. The flipper panel he has fitted on the shower isn't right but he has 'lost the instructions' so can't put it right and I'm sure this isn't correct.. I feel like sacking him off, getting my dad to fit the utility tap and taking everything Quooker related out and watching YouTube to sort it myself. I've sent him instructions and diagrams and it's still not sorted. -
We may just be in for Xmas....

They actually have small lines down them, I'll have to get a picture. I would have been worried about walking into them to. I already have walked into the bedroom door which is solid because I forgot we had doors! -

My wife seems to think that's where it was coming from. He's coming back tomorrow. I did send him the manuals before he installed it. Seems I'm probably better off reading them myself and telling him what to do.... ? -
Quooker tap fitted, wife went to try it and it leaked. Come on, tell me this isn't normal work of a plumber. Circled what I believe is the culprit...

Static Caravan...
canalsiderenovation replied to Mulberry View's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
We are paying £350 a month on a campsite 4 miles from home which includes water, electric and two half full calor gas bottles (we have purchased two more since arriving in June). We negotiated a long lease and Covid helped as campsites couldn't open. With us both working from here during lockdown it's been stressful and not particularly comfortable to be honest - too hot, too cold, damp etc. If you have anyone local who has an Airbnb/holiday home it is worth contacting them to see if you can do a long let. Living on site wasn't an open as getting a static on our site wouldn't have worked and we didn't want to move into 'proper rented' with bills on too of a minimum of £600 a month rent for a bedsit/flat. -
Well we ended up with a refund because they couldn't do exactly what we were after. We have just however fitted this in our kitchen/dining room.

It's been a while since our last update but just to let everyone know we may be in for Xmas. We still need the EWI and render but inside should be liveable and we can get out of the caravan. The kitchen is almost complete now after getting damaged units all replaced and given it was ex display I think it looks lovely. The part with the hob on could possibly have been a bit longer but I didn't want a breakfast bar and by time we have our table, chairs and small sofa I think it will look good. At the moment it's like a big dancefloor! And although the majority of the house doesn't have light fittings because frankly we are skint, we did manage to get the kitchen/dining room sorted and I love the light in there which we got from a small lighting place I convinced the other half to drive a couple of hours for. If I would have hated it she would have killed me. We got the whole house sprayed white by a local decorator because I didn't want to look at plaster for 12 months and I didn't fancy doing the pitched ceilings in the kitchen and with a bad neck injury. For our bungalow which is around 190m2 it was a few hundred pounds Inc all materials, paint, masking prior to second fix. It would have taken weeks to do it and the spray finish is brilliant (although has a few marks on it from second fix now). No woodwork has been done because it wasn't in place and frankly we can't afford it and once we decide on colours etc we can get doors, skirting done later on when we have calmed down and gradually work through each room. We have already decided we want the kitchen orange eventually and our yellow living room sofa is due to arrive too just before Xmas so it will definitely have injection of colour. The bathrooms are almost completed now after the showerwall saga, on the third replacement it now looks decent. We went for LVT throughout and the UFH is working well in that it's warmer than the caravan...... -

AB spoke to the rep and they are replacing the whole lot. Kudos to AB Building Supplies. Just means we have to take the whole lot off again..... -

Well it's up and I just hate it, my eye immediately goes to the join and more annoying is the plumber is meant to be fitting the shower next week. I've taken pics and sent to AB who we purchased panels from, and who replaced the initial one for their advice. The builder has fitted them before because we had a discussion about them, in relation to someone having them on all the walls of the bathroom, not just the shower. It's incredibly frustrating that this one is not right because I love the other ones. -

It's just the join being more visible but I can't get my head around why it's not the same the whole way of the join. Middle bit is perfect hardly noticeable but it's not like that consistently. I'll have to get in touch with AB on Monday. I thought the replacement panel would have sorted it. My OCD is in overdrive. -

It's on the damn wall now so I'm going to have to contact AB and get the supplier/manufacturer out because this is going to do my head in now. -

It's showerwall (not the multipanel but same sort). I can say they didn't put too much sealant in, I was there when they were doing it today and cussing it..... -

T&g 1200 - the Washed Charcoal one perfect can hardly see join at all. This one is causing issues. Walls fine. I had them from AB who sent a replacement panel out but whilst there has been some improvement and the join is now not noticeable in the middle it is now at the top and bottom. -
We are having problems with one out of the three showers in one particular colour of shower panel. Last week the builders attempted to fit the last shower. Where there is join there was a noticeable gap (I could get my fingernail in it) due to one of the panels having a slight bend in it. Supplier replaced it free. Today they have fitted the replacement and in the middle fine, you can hardly see the join but then at the top and bottom it seems to be more noticeable. Builders have literally got it butted in as close as it can go but for some reason at the top and bottom there is a noticeable join. Am I being ott here.....? How can I disguise the join....

1200 Shower Door
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Ah ok so your entry is 450mm? This pic is similar to what we are thinking. A 700mm screen and 300 or 400mm flipper (our tray is 1200 X 800) pic below for example of what I'm thinking. That would give us 500mm entry at the front. -

Our shower is in a recess/alcove and there are three sides. If we went for a 400 or 500 walk in fixed panel but with a 300 flipper (so we can fold it in) would this give enough room for entry? This is not our main shower, we have an ensuite with a 1600 tray and walk in screen. -
1200 Shower Door
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
It's in the middle - it's a Kermi Liga one and specifically says left hinge. There is a guy selling some on eBay but they are 2000mm in height which is taller than the one we have purchased. We have the ceiling height so I guess we could just get this, I mean as long as the glass isn't touching the ceiling I don't care how high it is! -
1200 Shower Door

Unfortunately not. The frameless door was available in RH and LH and I got the LH one ??? -
Looking for a door for our shower. I did have one but I made a mistake and got a frameless bifold one with a left hinge and it should have been right hinged (so unfortunately the door isn't suitable as it will open onto the shower). We don't want a sliding door. I'm struggling to now find one that's 1200. Any recommendations please?

I think it was because the knob was unsprung. I definitely didn't make it up! Well either way we had one magnetic latch fitted and my other half hates them. She doesn't think they are as secure as a normal latch, could 'blow open' and wants normal ones.... Means I could have had door knobs after all that. Oh well ? I've been told I must use the c word more often - compromise.

Trying to find a solution...
canalsiderenovation replied to ZacP's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
400l is the tank size which was recommended by a couple of people on here as we have a PV and a solar immersion solic 200. Our fuse/consumer unit and UFH piping manifold is all in a store cupboard just outside the utility door and whilst I'd of preferred this extra space to be in the utility for vacuum/mop etc it's quite a large stud cupboard so will probably end up with a couple of coats, etc in it as well and we just couldn't fit everything in one place without taking up too much room. There was also lots of debate about the manifold being in the centre of the house.
