  1. I don't know what police force you work with but in my area that is not the case. Police will not apply for a court order to remove a camera as no such legislation exists and the only legislation that covers cctv outside of criminal use, is the human rights act( civil law) and the data protection act.(civil law). Police will sometimes negotiate with cctv owner to move or re-position the camera but unless there is some sort of criminal behaviour they will and cannot get involved. That said in your case you suggest it is pointing at a neighbours property in which case it has to be registered by the ICO and if it does not comply they can issue proceedings not the police. Still as long as you comply with the DPA you can still have cctv pointing at public areas
  2. Police will or should i say should not advise a member of the public to remove a camera that is and can be shown to cover only private land. Just because someone feels intimidated does not mean they are It sounds that the police were over zealous in their attempts to sort the issue. The normal legislation would be harassment or some of the protection acts, however there has to be an intent on behalf of the offender to cause intimidation or harassment.
  3. I am in two minds hence my question. All i really need is the standard wording as i am happy working through the Regs themselves. All structural and frame design will be provided by timber frame company so all i need are the standard wording and detail for council BC officer
  4. We were told that the privacy screening may not be enough as you can remove it at will. The council i worked with a few years ago did screen all windows and doors to private property and allowed the individuals to check. As the penalties are high for a local authority for data breaches (our last one ran into hundreds of thousands) there is an expectation of it being managed well. In a private home this trust is not there and so screening would be questionable.

I think you now have to register all cctv under the DPA. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/domestic-cctv-using-cctv-systems-on-your-property/domestic-cctv-using-cctv-systems-on-your-property We did have something around at work to say that systems had to comply but it was largely ignored. It related more to neighbours complaining of spying and how to deal with them. IE prosecute for not complying. I have a quite extensive CCTV system that complies with it all

  8. I am assuming the same with my MBC build. I have it somewhere it has to be counter-battened. Some on here have used less without issue
  9. A lot of this is caused by the definition of a motor vehicle. Remember the issue over those scooters with engines. Currently if you have a motor vehicle constructed and adapted for use on the road you need tax insurance etc. There were big issues over disability scooters crashing into cars and pedestrians.. Some tractors being motor vehicles (JCB fast track) and some not. Insurance is not restricted to public land but land to which the public have access, and roads are not restricted to public roads but a road which can be seen as a point of communication between two locations that public have access. ( this might not be word perfect as its a while since i studied traffic law) A private car park such as supermarket needs insurance and all other things in place. We are near the ridge way and are plagued by off road bikes. all commit offences if not fully road legal. I would not worry as police are far to busy chasing their own tails to worry about traffic law. Time for a private compant to take over and make millions from poor joe public.
  10. Peter we had the crusher digger and operator for just over 600. The machine copes with most things as long as it is clean( no mud or metal) 200mm is about the biggest. We had some extremely hard concrete that was hard tto break with a breaker and although it was slow it managed it. It does actually crush it there are two large metal plates arranged in a V that move together, it was surprisingly quiet

  12. Nothing has been removed, it reduces by about 50% volume. We have dug out top soil and replaced it with the crushed hardcore as the new drive way is quite large. Kept a large pile on site in case we need to lay around house if it becomes muddy and to back fill once completed. Based on a delivery of recycled road plannings we had about 60 t of hardcore. after crushing. it cost us about £10 a tonne to crush. As we did not need to muck it away probably saved about the same ( muck away is £220-260 a load)
  13. It was the red rhino 5000. Took all day and coped with most of the materials. They do block now and again usually when a bit of wood gets in. You can specify different size output. however smaller takes twice as long. Our operator put it through twice as for the fine material as it was quicker.

  15. its down, crushed and removed at long last.
  16. Quick up date------he did not turn up. spent all morning painting lines on mud so he could see the footprint and sorting levels so he could estimate how much muck is to be removed. Hopefully paint will last till Wednesday when next one comes to have a look.
  17. Remote then. Local to us was a farm field of about 10 acres. They applied to change from farm to grazing for horses and got planning They grazed for a year and applied fro a stable block and barn and got it. used this for a while and then sold it. New owners grazed sheep and chickens and then applied to live on sight in caravan that was refused. They then applied to change unused stables to a house and got that. (and caravan as temp accommodation) So it 5-6 years from a field to private house can be done.

  19. Mike we have only just got the old house down. ( we cleaned and stacked 7000 old stock bricks as we took them down so took a while) The survey is this week to see what is under the old house. So far found a old courtyard with bricks and gully still intact and a foul chamber we did not know about. Trial pits hit solid chalk at 600mm with 300mm hard hogging on top so looks good. Issue is that the drains we want to keep are closer to the structure than we had hoped. And the old foundation walls go down to the chalk so have asked if they can stay to prevent the ground being dug under the slab. Martin I sent a question to MBC asking but i think they are in the XMAS slow down.
  20. We have a replacement dwelling that went through planning straight away Start with is it urban or rural as different rules apply. Then read up on local rules. We were allowed 50% in Berkshire some other areas are a lot less. check if there is a parish, town plan etc look at other successful planning applications to get a feel. Or shell out for a local planning consultant.
  21. Morning all. How far did your compacted hardcore go beyond the slab. I could go to MBC but i was hoping someone on here with the MBC slab could give me an indication. I have a ground worker coming today and was going to ask for 1m but looking at photos of others this maybe too much. It will make a difference in muck away costs. MBC have yet to specify the slab as we found some issues when we removed the old house. Thanks
  22. We are still looking a doors. I have tried to find a set of double doors that are air tight, secure, low threshold and a good heat loss rating. We have now given up and gone back to planning as the only company were asking for the same as all the windows and doors in the rest of the house put together but would not install. The issue we have is that we wanted oak so had to look at a laminate or foil. We have now asked for a painted door as there are more options available. We will most likely go with our window supplier of choice "Munster" who do a passive door with all the required regulations covered. I have to say that if you can put up with the time it takes to answer questions, they have picked up a couple of issues all the others missed and come out to measure as soon as the structure is up to ensure no mistakes.
