  1. You will probably get a more detailed answer elsewhere, but i used the foam tape on the last house and it was very quick to expand
  2. Bet you cannot wait for the sips to go up. Its Quick so don't blink as you will miss it. I went to work and came back with the ground and first floor up.
  3. @peterW is that new or recycled. My quarry is only 16 miles away. Where are you? Are you able to name them maybe they will have somewhere local to me
  4. this is from wetherby TF-Epsitec15-RO-05-Window head.pdf It shows a bell cast fixed to the timber frame to deflect moisture away not as good as the u channel as moisture will sit on the inner face of the board The timber frame is counter battened so air flow should not be an issue if you pay attention to detail. ( and yes i agree the detail from Knauf is misleading)
  5. @ADLIan i have seen JSH post and see how he dealt with the issue with timber cladding and see what he did will work The issue with cement board and render is it is in effect a sealed system vented at the top and bottom of the wall. Not sure which of the manufacturers it was but the only detail i have seen is a u section between the timber frame and cement board set at a slight angle so it will catch any moisture and drain it away from the window head.
  6. I have been doing a bit of planning on the rendered section of our new build. Its a twin wall MBC build. About half the build will be clad with render board and thin coat render. What i cannot find is how to deal with cavity trays above the windows and doors and also at a roof abutment The above is from the Knauf detail and it does not show any form of a tray. Another manufacture has a metal channel above the window that drains to one side. I think @JSHarris used flexible flashing on a timber clad section Does anybody have details of how this should be done or how they managed the detail on their own build
  7. Mine is for new non recycled it makes it more expensive
  8. £19.95 +vat Tried all the locals Muck away is 13 per ton in 20t loads
  9. Still shopping around for my type1 best i have is £19 tonne for 80 t
  10. took half a dozen photos and cannot tell for sure on any. But the twig/crack goes from water line and across roof. i thought boats were full of foam. My old speed boat was. either way i would be a bit upset. There are about 40 boats along that stretch of the Thames. It would be why mine
  11. i think i got off lightly look closely its snapped in half
  12. Tractor will by trying later. It is bigger than it looks when you get close
  13. lost a few trees in the woods but this is the one we did't want to loose
  14. lost a tree and not the one i wanted. it did move a really heavy steel framed field shelter that the tractor struggles to move 2m across the paddock
  15. Now people are being nice about (Hull pronounced ULL, no H in East Yorkshire or is it Umberside no its the East Riding) My family as far back as we can trace are HULL born and bred The thing i remember was a night club on 3 floors right on the old dock that became the marina, and yes it was those Hull girls that attracted us. @JSHarris has obviously not experienced Newcastle on a Friday night (my stomping ground in the 80's) imagine 3000 Cheryl Coles tanked up on newcastle Brown with their never ending sun tan mini skirts and white stilettos
  16. I lived in hull for a year in 1979 loved it. They were just starting to develop the marina( yes on the Humber a tidal river its always a laugh to see boats disappear up or down stream when they get caught in the current)
  17. Forgot to say there is a grade 1 listed dovecote on site that needs to be rebuilt
  18. Glad we escaped. Have relatives in Cottingham still and as i said we own what is left of a farm in Marfleet. Does your friend want 5 acres of prime real estate demolished large farm house on site so easy planning
  19. Whats wrong with Hull Family own a farm there. Worth about 6p
  20. steel mesh and render for mine However a think the way @TerryE has finished the detail is really elegant solution and i wish i had seen it a lot earlier i do have a plinth around half the build so its only one end that is to be rendered
  21. just a quick update. i received the pack from MBC today as promised,
  22. I intend to add insulation to outside if i can. this is the design i have been sent slab.pdf
  23. i have been promised the plans, calculations and information to satisfy building control for the slab frame and roof. I have a separate set of plans that cover all the other aspects for BC So far the drawings i have contain no structural information such as wall construction joist spacing etc. Hopefully this will be with me by Thursday. So far MBC have been nothing but helpful. Its the company that has been doing the slab that's caused my delay. I know MBC have found it equally frustrating. As we will not now manage our agreed start date i am faced with being slotted in between other builds. I have had the added worry of BC questioning the slab before even seeing it
  24. I am yet to see what we get from MBC other than the agreed frozen drawings that have dimensions and the ducts and drainage. The slab design i have received shows sections of construction and dimensions but they come from BuildLite not Hillard. Hopefully by Thursday it will all become clear.
