  1. Our LA required a minimum of 22 metres separation on upstairs facing windows between our new build and an existing property on adjacent plot. And yet the same LA has permitted national house builders to erect new builds in the same Borough with upstairs facing windows less than 9 metres apart. Go figure 🤔
  2. Did you mean isn't?
  3. It was a cheap Titan gun from Scewfix, and I've just checked the size if the staples and they were actually shorter than I recalled, ie Tacwise 22mm stainless divergent.
  4. No problem.
  5. I doubt that you'll be able to secure it with a hand stapler, there's too much 'spring' in the Actis. I cut 1 inch squares from a roll of DPC membrane and used them as a pad to fire circa 40mm staples through the Actis with an electric staple gun. I'll dig out a pic and post later. PS. Without the DPC pads the staples tear through the foil.
  6. Yes, but these are recycled units and of a reduced size/capacity to the original fit.
  7. I happened to be reading an article on Autocar about the recycling of EV car batteries and they mentioned the use of Jaguar i-Pace batteries in these units. https://www.pramac.com/product?id=16571&folder=367 Anyone come across them / have any idea of cost?
  8. Yep, that's the stuff 👍🏻
  9. It was a Hanson product back when I used it, but I heard it's no longer in their stable?
  10. That sounds like a good price given recent cost increases as it's only about ÂŁ150 more than we paid for 123m2 circa six years ago.
  11. Not yet, but (conveniently) one of my daughters has since met and settled down with a guy who specialises in laying LVT. Only trouble is he's so good he never has any time to do jobs at 'family' rates 🙄
  12. Trusting a so-called professional installer to put a level float of latex screed down before laying 130m2 of Karndean flooring.
  13. I received and completed it yesterday. There were a couple of questions where the options offered didn't cover our circumstance - plot locating as Dave found also, but also there was one there were 3-6 month and 12 month plus options, but no 6 - 12 month option 🙄 Still, if it helps others to make a decision about whether or not self-building is right for them then it's a worthwhile idea.
  14. A step in the right direction provided that; a) it's enforced, and b) tests are conducted independently. Let's face it, if new homes have to be heated by heat pumps in the near future then they're going to need to do far better.
  15. And gobsmacked to see a guy working inside this in the last hour...
  16. Highest gust at Southampton dockhead so far today is 78.1 knots (89.9mph) and tidal surge is 94cm above expected, and still about an hour to the first high water (we get double highs in the Solent).
  17. Dave, I switched to Go from Agile when prices started to soar last Spring. It's fixed until this August and my latest bill (earlier this week) shows I'm paying an average of just under 12p per unit at present. I run the ASHP for DHW in the cheap 4-hour period each night and supplement this via solar when available. This way, circa 33% of our energy import is at the cheap rate.
  18. No, I'm learning that acquiring a new Porsche is not always as transparent a transaction as with most other commodities. I look forward to seeing pics, hopefully of both.
  19. Meant to add before posting previous reply, I have to admit I know very little about Ferraris as they've never been on my radar (not sure why other than that I have an aversion to red cars), but the Testarossa is definitely an iconic design.
  20. Funnily enough, having sold my Aston a month or so ago (someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse), i have a much more modest Porsche on order, and am keeping my eye out for an RS4 Avant.
  21. Yes, but which cars? We're on the south coast so a long way from your location, but we have relatively little glass compared to your design. Probably easiest if you spend a few minutes reading the following thread (or searching the forum for SageGlass) and then let me know if you have any questions, or I can put you in touch with their UK sales guy.
  22. Looks awesome. How you configure it, I always think, down to personal preference so I won't offer any advice - unless you want to hear of our experience with SageGlass. A 4-car garage does however demand the question from a petrol-head as to what will you be keeping in it?
  23. It says.... *Data taken from a survey undertaken by the Home Builders Federation ... but who knows what they were comparing ?
  24. My point was that marketing properties on their supposed energy efficiency is something I'd not seen before, even if we all know it's largely BS. Hopefully, what may in time follow is an 'arms race' of housebuilders trying to outdo each other as to how efficient their homes are, and that could be a good thing.
  25. ... even when it's not really that efficient. Email from Rightmove contained the following from Bellway Homes. Amazing what surging gas prices can provoke. "Visit one of our award-winning developments and you could be living the dream in a beautiful Bellway home next year. New-build homes are often far more energy efficient than older properties, with customers saving on average ÂŁ629 per year* compared to second hand properties. On top of this, Bellway customers will be taking advantage of innovations in construction technology, techniques and materials, in order to reduce daily running costs and to help protect the environment."
