We have a course of Foamglass Perinsul around our entire perimeter to eliminate cold bridging between the below DPC blockwork and the TF wall / floor slab.

The most elegant solution is, IMHO, SageGlass. Expensive but it works brilliantly.

Looked stunning, like something out of a Bond movie, and on this occasion I suspect the client actually quite enjoyed the fact that it ended up costing so much.

Hi Tim This is the makeup of our IGUs. 4mm heat strengthened SR2.0 + 0.9mm SentryGlas® lonoplast interlayer + 2.2 mm SageGlass® coated outboard lite 15.5mm black stainless steel spacer, black silicone, black PIB, argon filled 4mm heat strengthened 15.5mm black stainless steel spacer, black silicone, black PIB, argon filled 6mm heat strengthened inboard lite Total Thickness = 48.1mm Glass was installed by the same crew from Ecohaus Internorm that installed the frames. Hope that helps and feel free to ask if you have any further queries. NB. Posted again quoting Tim's post in case not seen. Mods, please feel free to delete previous post.

Worst shortages and how to plan around them (Jul 2021)
NSS replied to puntloos's topic in Costing & Estimating
Funnily enough, a couple of weeks ago I ventured as far north as I've done in probably 20 years or more (to collect a new caravan from Sheffield as it happens). Never seen so many speed cameras, particularly average speed cameras, on A-roads - we only get those on motorway roadworks down here. As for the beer and the fish & chips, you must be joking, though admittedly I can't comment regarding the ladies ? -

'Just do it' may work in you neck of the woods TBC, but the eight neighbours who objected to our planning application would have been on to the council in a flash if we'd tried that here. One even tried to claim that the ridge height was too high (it wasn't) and that the screening shrubs we planted were not of the prescribed minimum height of 2.5m (they were). -

Surely a change of brick, or roof tile, or window frame, will require a material amendment approval by the planning authority? If so, around here that could mean an even longer delay. -
Beginning to regret switching to Agile as average daily rates have risen rapidly over the last couple of months. For example, today's (Monday) is circa 23 pence per unit and the lowest the nighttime rate drops to is only 17p.

Yes, we're happy. There are those who doubt the performance claims for multi-foil products (ours is Actis), and we've not lived in properties with other insulation for comparison, but it does what we expected. Easy and (importantly for us) very clean to install.

Ah, the "cool looking green straps" is in fact just green garden twine stapled to the rafters ?

Not sure which picture you're referring to?

Haven't read every word in the thread, but not seen any mention of the other consideration that will increasingly need to be made - cooling. Our heat pump is primarily there to heat water and space, but can also cool the space and would be used to do so far more but for the fact that we have SageGlass.

We have 165m2 with u-values of 0.14 (walls/roof), 3G windows (circa 0.7u), air test result of 1.6, 9kw Panasonic Aquarea T-Cap monobloc, 4k PV, power diverter, and our total import from the grid (no gas) is circa 5.2mW per annum (about £700). Your air test will certainly be hurting your consumption, as will having no PV, but even so £200+ per month seems high to me. Oh, and we heat our DHW to 55C.

I'm not sure the consistency argument can be applied if the regs have changed since then. Try speaking to the Fire Service maybe?

Not saying this is the reason, but you may have fallen foul of the access width required for fire appliances. That requirement may not have existed when the previous development was approved.

Smart Monitoring without a Smart Meter
NSS replied to NSS's topic in General Alternative Energy Issues
It uses clamps, but the voltage can be selected in settings. Currently set at 245v as per the indicated voltage shown on the SE inverter. -
Smart Monitoring without a Smart Meter

Very long story which I won't bore you all with, but our Efergy Pro finally went live earlier this week. Initial observations are that the figures it displays do not accurately mirror those for a) generation as indicated by SolarEdge, nor b) grid consumption indicated by the smart meter. Hopefully this is something that can be fine-tuned to be more accurate but I'm awaiting a response from tech support so will report again as to whether this is resolved. In the meantime, what it is does appear to show is that we (so far at least) utilise far more of our PV generation than I imagined - at just over 96% -
Anyone got solar control glass ? Pergola or Brise Soleil Instead ?
NSS replied to Loz's topic in Windows & Glazing
I know it's SageGlass, mine was the first residential property in the UK to have it (or at least that's what SageGlass told me at the time). -

NSS replied to Loz's topic in Windows & Glazing
I doubt it could be used on bi-folds anyway due to the requirement to run cable to each individual pane of glass. -

Isn't this (Section 75) cover limited to purchases up to £30k ?
