  1. That's exactly what I was looking for but cant find them here.
  2. I've looked at the post pullers which would work for few but I have 100s of broom plants to come out. I have found this online which might be a bit flimsy but I'll give it a go.
  3. I'm looking for something to pull broom and saplings. I've seen weed wrenches in the US and Canada but can't find anything here. I know there are weed pullers you can get from Fiskar but those like they're for dandelions etc. Anyone seen anything like this here?
  4. I have the documentation that we gave building control for our frameless balcony. There is a calculation sheet from a glass consultant and test certification from the company that provided the fixings. This was all handled by our supplier and installer. I can PM it to you if it will help, I don't want to post it on an open forum as it has contact details on it.
  5. We looked at a membrane roof with a profile and didn't think it looked good at all. In the end we went for Greencoat PLX on the roof and cladding for the first floor and are really happy with it. One thing about steel is that you are likely to get oil canning. Ours is minimal but I've seen some really bad ones and it looks worse with certain colours.
  6. Yeah that's a good point. Our architect acted as ours.
  7. We used the JCT minor works contract. It all went tits up with our builder, culminating in him going into liquidation. I'm pretty sure the contract saved us significant amounts of stress and more importantly, money. He had a couple of other customers who had handshake agreements and by all accounts they came off badly.
  8. I have just ordered a cheapo dual lense one. I'll post some results on here if you're interested? 100% guaranteed not to have been up@SteamyTea's arse.
  9. Now you have me concerned. We have ASHP with UFH downstairs and rads upstairs. It's set up as a single zone and the rads only every get slightly warm. The rooms are warm enough but our heating engineer put in a dual fuel one in our upstairs en suite for the towels. We were told just to switch it on when needed so we've effectively been using both at the same time for an hour each morning. What are the issues I could be causing?
  10. I thought that most of the coal produced from that mine had already been rejected by the steel industry as being too high in sulfur. My understanding is that most of the coal produced will be exported.
  11. Cracking looking place, well done!
  12. And if you are using trades remember the Russian proverb "Doveryai, no proveryai" "trust, but verify"
  13. It was blowing a hooley from the north last night and apart from highlighting just how many Cedral boards I need to mastic down I did notice cold air blowing in through the light switch on the external wall. I'm assuming it's coming around the cables that go to the external lights which is located on that wall. Hopefully I can get to the hole by taking off the light and not the Cedral to squirt in some Illbruck Pro Foam in. Is it fair enough to do the same around the switch's back box or should I be using something else? Thanks Ralph
  14. I think 2022/2023 is the first time Shell, for example have paid corporation tax on North Sea operations for five years. In fact I think the government paid them £100s of millions. BP is in the same sort of position. At the same time shareholders get £billions in dividends.
  15. Cheers. It was pretty much everything including the landscaping and architect fees. Did not include the plot though. The joiner had been working for the builder but left before we parted ways. His work stood out and we got him back evenings and weekends to do the finishing work and a good bit of the kitchen.
  16. Thanks! What I don't show is the inside of the garage. It's a different story!
  17. Oh now that's interesting. I need someone to come out and do some repair on the garage roof after it got clipped by the oak coming down. Might be cheaper than getting people form Glasgow for a small repair.
  18. Thanks! The roof was done by F D Roofing & Cladding in Glasgow. It's pretty impossible to get anyone local who does this. Wife keeps mentioning something for the walls but as yet nothing has appeared.
  19. Exactly right. I don't think it's practical for most people and it would be no fun for kids to live like this.
  20. Howdens finest, it was a pig to put in. I can't handle lots of stuff, makes me feel uncomfortable. We have some loft space but deliberately did not put a hatch in so we could not be tempted to store stuff that we would never look at. I'm sure visitors think we are barmy.
  21. Cheers, we went for standing seam steel for the roof and 1st floor. Zinc was a bit pricey for us.
  22. Closest oak was taken out last year by Storm Arwen, banjoed the garage as well.
  23. I don't think we have any conifers, mix of alder, oak, beach and willow. A few alder had to come down for access but that's about it. Red squirrel central here.
  24. I believe they have all had a very good year around here with wheat and barley so let's hope not.
