  1. What bit of him is stuck?
  2. Good for sniffing regardless of state of mind . As good as the xylene or whatever in marker pens.
  3. Hopefully no chunks of it stuck in the filter .
  4. I have as it happens as I buy acetone in bulk as it’s much cheaper than nail polish remover ?
  5. You need to check with the specific insurer but most will cover solar 'panels' for damage etc. however they were installed (as in they don't ask). Mine says this: Buildings - The structure of your home including its fixtures, fittings and services, garden walls, gates, fences, hedges, paths, drives, patios, tennis courts, wind turbines, fixed solar panels and permanent swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs all within the grounds of your home and for which you are legally responsible. All of the above are covered for all normal insurance events such as fire, storm, floods etc. Only hedges, storms and fences are specifically excluded from storm damage. They don't ask who installed any of those structures. It won't cover events where the equipment ceases to function however unless it has been damaged by one of the covered events. If you are fitting an in-roof system I would check that this is covered by the term 'fixed solar panels'. I would say yes but I would get the customer to declare the make of panel to the insurance company for the avoidance of doubt.
  6. They definitely offered grants up here (Scotland) via the Energy Saving Trust. We got circa 2.5k back that was about 30% of the capital cost of the thermal store, boiler and and ST equipment I recall. Unfortunately in order to access the grant the ST could only be installed by an Energy Saving Trust approved installer, and essentially he knew how much we were getting back so he charged us what our grant money was to install it and was only here for a day or 2. And then what happened next was that the scheme was withdrawn, most of the installers ceased installations, and now I can't seem to get anyone to service the ST system so on the surface it was a complete waste of money.
  7. Aw, if I had been there I could have lent you my nail polish remover. Alas, I suspect that it has set now so game over .
  8. Depends whether they are on drugs when the design is done I guess .
  9. So, get the fence up pdq to draw a (literal) line under this, then back to the renovation work. Chop chop . That will be much better for the soul than neighbour issues.
  10. And I’m not sure who decided the layout of the plumbing. Could have been how plumber number 1 who designed the pipe layout drew it up, or could have been my maverick husband who decided to do his own thing. Who knows, but it is what it is.
  11. So which is the HRC? The green one or the one I posted further up? And what does the other one do? Aye, it's a bit of a pain but hey at least the hot water arrives eventually. Previously I had none unless the heating was on!
  12. Welcome! One of the mods can set you up with a blog so hopefully one will be along in a minute to sort that out for you. As @Mr Punter says we love to see photos so the more the merrier. The triffid photos would be a great first post, plus your plans of course. Always exciting to see what people are going to create.
  13. Definition of Man Flu: An illness that causes the male of the species to be sicker and more helpless than any other member of the family. In females - a cold
  14. tado Smart Thermostat Starter Kit v2 £49.99 (or £39.99 using promo code) Note that this is V2 not V3 but seems a decent price. Use code ACCESSORY20 to drop the price to £39.99 https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/tado/smart-thermostat-starter-kit-v2#contractType=nonconnected?cm_mmc=affiliate-_-47868-_-blank-_-blank&awc=3235_1529518500_b50db52b1d555db15c8ab568685d3c5d
  15. No idea if this is the right method as the hubby laid the floor with no previous experience but he used these straps to pull the boards tight whilst the adhesive was curing. Seemed to work ok anyway given it is still stuck down fast. Oh and if there is any trace of glue on any of the top surface remove it immediately. There were some bits the hubby didn’t notice (I did as soon as I was back from work ) and they were a b1tch to remove once dry!
  16. Fabulous. Just a pity the local authority was so intransigent when the process was clearly wrong. Now you have to stay on here for the more challenging bit that is the build!
  17. We used Rewmar MS Polymer adhesive to bond it to the screed on the ground floor and it's completely silent. Next door's isn't laid like that clearly and is horribly creaky and noisy when it's walked on. No idea how that was laid as the builder of their house did it.
  18. Still means jack though in the great scheme of things cos if shit's gonna happen it happens, regardless of probability.

    Hi

See @PeterW, @Hecateh does think that Big Dave and Little Willy are cute . Starting to look great @Hecateh. And the efflorescence looks like it's greatly reduced now too.
  20. Never noticed mine creaking TBH. How thick are the boards? Mine are 22mm and don't seem to move or creak at all.
  21. The stuff upstairs here is secret nailed. Hasn't moved in 8 years.
  22. I always tell myself that the probability of a plane crash so soon after another one is remote so I am more safe directly after a plane crash (crazy I know!). I did sh1t myself flying Cubana from Holguin to Havana though as I was certain that it was unsafe! In fact it was one of the airlines I least wanted to fly with but we did make it there and back in once piece. They did have a crash on that route last month however with many fatalities .
  23. It was said tongue in cheek you know but if 5% of ASHPs fail (for example) then the probability of 2 failing together is unlikely, but doesn't mean it won't happen of course! But we want @joe90 to remain positive about his, especially as he won't have a big kick arse CEO to sort things out for him.
