  1. I limit my E7 times with some cheap timers. Currently comes on at 3 AM until it is no longer needed, or the normal switch off at 7 AM. Today it there was no significant load after 5:30 AM During that time it pulled, on average, 4.7 kW. So just under 12 kWh for all my space heating and DHW. Bit higher than usual, but then it is a bit cooler than usual. Just had a look at my temperatures. Upstairs was 17°C during the night. Downstairs was 17.9°C The overall mean temperature today (from midnight to now 13:30) is 18°C. Not far off what I like as it rises during the day.
  2. Does he say how to get rid of it, no.
  3. That would be really good, especially if you can give some basic theory and calculations. So chop chop, no need to have Christmas off just because it is in the middle of the week.
  4. Welcome Have you applied for your CIL exemption?
  5. What I was thinking. It may be designed as a warm roof i.e. reasonably airtight, but if the insulation is poor, then it will not be too warm. Generally, by controlling heat losses, you can then decide if you need secondary heating in an area. @joe90did a warm roof and it works well. If he wanted to live in it he may need some ventilation, but as a storage area it is fine. I think his MVHR pipes are uninsulated, but they are short. My feeling is to always insulate everything that is warmer or colder.
  6. I see quite a few people trying to throw ashes off the cliffs. They usually end up eating there dad.
  7. Did you, or did you just get your phone out and film it.
  8. Two things that occurred to me this morning. Can you get a large enough electricity supply? Worth splitting the DHW and the Space Heating systems as they do different things, at different times and at different temperatures.
  9. Are the bathrooms fitted with a bath, or just showers? It does also depend how creative you want to be and how much you want to spend. Nothing to stop you having 10 smaller ASHPs, but it gets expensive. It also depends if you can put up with the occasional cold bath/shower. Also have a look at commercial CO2 heat pumps, they can deliver to a higher temperature. Are you fitting any other renewables like PV, if so, how much. May be worth looking at solar thermal for this sort of thing.
  10. Sounds like a Norpol resin, as they say, it has nothing added. It can be a bit harsh on the fingers.
  11. What colour is it before you add any hardener?
  12. My Father was accident prone. Put a fork though his foot. Did not matter as he then chopped off toes with his Flymo. He slipped on a ladder, but decided to slide down it like a stuntman. Forgot to bend his legs though. Needed a couple of new knees. He had a hedge trimming attachment for his old B&D drill, the drill was so old that the switch was stuck on permanently. He picked the hedge trimmer up by the blade, then switched it on. But I do like this video.
  13. I am taking a guess that it is not an environmental resin, these tend to have a wax additive in them. It feels slippery when cured, so you would know. Bit of sanding sorts it out anyway.
  14. I thought it was normal to drill into a cable. I consider that a minor mishap, even after the 3rd or 4th time. I did overflow my bath, leaked into the kitchen below. Drained some water out, had my bath. As I got out, I felt a tingle in my foot. Wet wiring and a cast iron bath. Got called Thatcher for weeks after that.
  15. I use the MET off Android App. Bloody rubbish, like the weather.
  16. Don't understand the question. Or how it relates to lime compared to OPC.
  17. What, they get a good nights rest. (I should have said that he was from Plymouth)
  18. Do you own the house/project, were you still married, are you liable for the debt or your husband\ex-husband estate? You avoid people getting on the council tax register, let it out to a couple of students. They pay a term in advance and quite often leave before the year is out.
  19. Did not happen to me, but I know someone that was fitting a log sauna, his mate was hammering down a log, with his mates tackle caught between two pieces. 'Black Man's Pinch' did not start to describe it apparently.
  20. Not sure how different lime and Portland cement are chemically, that is one for @Jeremy Harris, but as concrete is used for foundations, I can't see that it is a problem (under current legislation). Not a lot we, as individuals, can do about large organisations breaking, or bending the laws and rules (short of direct action sabotage).
  21. I just had a quick look at a small domestic wind turbine. This little 1 kW jobby needs a rotor diameter of 1.8m and a wind speed of 12.5 m.s-1 (28 MPH) https://futurenergy.co.uk/domestic-wind-turbines/airforce1/ I would be dubious that they can deliver more than a few watts about.
  22. Concrete gets crushed into hardcore.
  23. Right, so it is habitation rather than possession.
  24. Can the prospective buyer rent it until the 3 years is up?
