GSHP's are really water source heat pumps, so putting an impermeable barrier, like concrete over them is not the best idea. Sand above them s good though.

Yes. Seems strange that the existing floor\base\foundation can't be modified. Almost as if they want these old barns to fall or burn down.

You can get ply and plaster board covered in aerogel. Thin and a bit better. Why can't you dig down deeper to fit more insulation just under the pipes, and some insulation around the external edges.
-
Are you going for UFH and can you add extra insulation there. Get a tripple win that way. I would go for the bigger ASHP. They are not quite like cars where you take an everyday hit for the few holiday trips or towing holiday. What modulation is all about.
-
Yes, mainly down to the wind loading and possibly snow loading. Would look silly as well. And would do nothing for the reduced hours of daylight. Or the azimuth angles.
-
Going bake a bit, you could paint a normal GRP meter box with coloured flow coat.
-
No, as they are still fitted on the property. Odd though as telephone billing is not done the same way.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learning_styles While doing my PGCE we had to try out all styles, but generally, we teach bet they way we learn. Why some people just cannot learn from some teachers. I wish English teacher could learn that.

Had a conversation with the meter reading man about this. Much higher chance of it happening in deprived areas, especially with short term renters. He had a list of meters that he was not allowed to touch as the wiring had been tampered with in the past. Strange, how one house out of the 6 where I am had a meter open to the elements, it is now 2 properties, number 4 moved to number 5.

Was 30 years ago when I had to know about this sort of stuff. They don't stop electrical fires.

Time is cheap, you do save on the professional fees. I like the idea of building my own place, but the VAT saving is just not enough of an incentive. You can save that by shopping about. Living in dust for months us not fun though. Get a good tent, or build a decent shed to live in.

I always fall asleep after a nutritious snack too.

What that spreadsheet I did about 10 years ago was all about. Just looked at the probability of condensation forming over a period of time. May have to revisit this problem as adding in evaporation would make it more accurate.

Going to pop that on the Kindle, will also show that screens at night don't disturb sleep I am sure.

Welcome. Having done 3 renovations in the past, I wish I had made that decision early on. Would have saved time, money and mess.

Was that one of the 3 or 4 topics that got locked in a day. So can I discuss the upcoming Grand Tour? Or is that going way too far. @Onoff I have never had an official reprimand. I shall start to behaviour even more badly now.

Are they known as Type 4, or is that MCBs. Too lazy to Google (TLTG).
-
I would have told them to (expletive deleted) off, I hate those things at so many levels.
-
Think that was the problem with the SMAs. Some had a transformer and some didn't. Seem to remember that the TL range should not have an RCD as it caused problems.
-
Can depend on inverter, RTFM on that one. Not had any experience of that. Was it wired and then a test certificate issues?

Can't you just set up a small, cheap computer that has Bluetooth, when it detects a known Bluetooth signal with a registered MAC address, it then can do what you want it to do. Might even be able to use those cheap 'lost luggage and car keys' Bluetooth fobs to activate it.
