  1. When I bought this place I took out a one off insurance to cover the shared sewage pipe that crosses my land. A few years back I had notification that SW Water had taken over responsibility of all the sewage pipes. Never got any of my money back from the insurance company.
  2. Why it is pre set with no user options.
  3. One of my assignments when studying renewable energy was to design a system that supplied power for 3 days. I designed a cascading system. Basically anything could run for 4 hours, then stuff was disconnected, big loads first. So no DHW or heating, then oven, then freezers and entertainment, eventually just left with lights, I considered lighting to be a safety issue. Costed it out at around £60k using lead acid technology and islanding inverters. Class mate if mine found a biodiesel generator, I considered that cheating. He got better marks. He used to get better marks in the Mathematic assignments, and I did them for him.
  4. You are near Bovington, could be fun scaring the neighbours with a midnight pyrotechnic show. My Kindle has Fire in the name as well. Who will be the first EV maker to use they word, Fiat.
  5. You need to be on the ground floor.
  6. Easy fix. Give a Tim almost 500 quid and he goes into the loft with a black box, comes out later with a dirty black box. Trying work out when in was fitted, probably 25+ years ago. So no real complaints.
  7. Maybe, will it help cure my morning wood?
  8. Because it is a phase change material, the vast majority of the energy is stored at the phase change temperature. I am not sure, but think that 'over charging' causes the pouches to expand, this can cause damage. That is more a case of under charging most of the time. That would need some numbers. No point over charging the screen if the inside temperature of the house goes too high, with the inevitable window opening to counteract it. My house has storage heaters, the small, 1.5 kW (10.5 kWh) one has a mass of about 60 kg.
  9. Seem the main concern should be going to Thailand. With around 300 cases a year, and very few fatalities, it is getting to such low levels, we should be worried about putting the phone charger in a socket. Things have to be kept in perspective, being at work is much more dangerous. Key figures for Great Britain (2020/21) 1.7 million working people suffering from a work-related illness, of which 822,000 workers suffering work-related stress, depression or anxiety 470,000 workers suffering from a work-related musculoskeletal disorder 93,000 workers suffering from COVID-19 which they believe may have been from exposure to coronavirus at work 2,369 mesothelioma deaths due to past asbestos exposures (2019) 142 workers killed at work 441,000 working people sustained an injury at work according to the Labour Force Survey 51,211 injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR
  10. I suspect below the 6A limit there charging efficiency is impaired. Be a bit like heating your water up from 10°C to 25°C. Not a lot of use in reality if 25°C was all you can get.
  11. Bit bored this morning, so thought I would look up about domestic legionella infection risk. First line 'very uncommon' https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/635817/Investigating_Legionella_household_settings.pdf Seems your hosepipe is a risk as well. As is the screenwasher on your car. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/05/140518164421.htm Here are the numbers for the UK. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/latest-legionnaires-disease-data-published-for-england-and-wales
  12. Not a bargain, not even bought from them, just wanted to bookmark the site as they have an excellent range of adhesives. https://www.gluesdirect.co.uk/catalog/index.php Including D4 PVA. I was actually looking for this stuff https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175248623735 Used it in the past and works a treat.
  13. So on balance, a good experience. Why is the building trade so dreadful?
  14. Seems most advice for these Aqualisa us to turn it off and on again. Shall do they I the morning when my mother is asleep, and not watching murders in Midsomer (filmed locally). The blue light is doing a short, then medium and then two long flashes. Or a long then short, then medium then long again. Can't find anything on Google about flash codes.
  15. No, still flashing after turning the only MCB that says Hot Water.
  16. @joe90 @Radian @ProDave I shall go looking for a switch, or something in the consumer unit. No idea if it limits the temperature, hardly used this shower. Not a house I have been in much, until recently.
  17. @joe90 Yes, all the rest works, even the similar shower in the next room. I have a distant memory that it has done this before. Almost as if something has got in the pipe and blocked it. Odd thing is, can't turn it off.
  18. The shower worked fine this morning. After a day if painting, I went to use it. Pressed external button, water flowed, but did not heat up (combi boiler). Then the water stopped. Blue light is still flashing. Tried sucking in the pipe, nothing seems to be moving. VID_20220508_184223519.mp4
  19. That is rough. Taking a guess that they have never fitted it before. Is that something you can check out? Plan for the worse, hope for the best.
  20. Welcome. I am intrigued to know what a 'property developer' actually is. Seems to cover everything from someone renting out a house, to a large corporation building 1000+new homes. As far as I can see, at the lower end, it tends to be chancers. So why not go and work for a property developer for a year or two, see what it is all about.
  21. Not late. But at my mother's now.
