2 strokes always sound as if something is broken and flapping about. -

I found the air filter had the biggest influence on fuel economy. 10k miles and it drops 10‰ at least. Regular oil changes as well. -
Discount Offers of the Week

If I had know I would have taken the week off and cadged a ride. Quite fancy a few days up your way. -
Welcome. This peculiar damp problem, it may be condensation. If you are fitting UFH, how much insulation can you get under it?

You as well. -
No idea, I live geographically close to Wales but by road it is a minimum of 260 miles.

I think Wales has some scope for more off beat designs. Someone built a 'Hobbit House' there and eventually got planning. You could just build a white cube, then get 4 projectors and put whatever façade you like on it. Projectors can chuck out quite a lot of light.

Where is the kWh price heading in 2022?
SteamyTea replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
About 220Wh/mile then. My old diesel is currently on 60MPG, 1320Wh/mile. 14p/mile [182p/litre, 10 kWh/litre]. Can pick up a car like mine for 300 quid. -
Welcome All sounds interesting, though difficult. Some on here have a lot of planning experience, while others are good on the technical front. Where have you emigrated from? Good luck with your project.

As long as you don't expect me to wear a stout RAF woollen skirt, and make my knickers out of parachutes. -

Just think how simple life would be without coffee, we would soon learn not to think too hard. -

Model it as a polynomial equation. Better still, create a performance matrix and let Excel do the curve fitting. It is something Excel is good at. Halfway through my coffee. -

I do not recognise people at the best of times, let alone myself. -

One is 1.5 kW, other 3 kW ish. Small one has 2 elements, the bigger one 4. -

Connected to my storage heaters seems the best use to me. -

Like their PV modules. If you have 3 kWp of them going spare, I shall come and fill the car up with them on my next trip up, should fit. -

I would think they are in serious trouble. Fuel will be a large part of their expenditure and often fairs are fixed by legislation. Does make me wonder if the 'corner shop' will make a comeback. They have high mark up on low price products, relatively small outgoings (owners run the place), often good secondary income from running postal services and, and this applies to all small business people I know, hate heating a place. I often go to a nice sub tropical garden, at the top of it is a place that feeds 'old folk'. I wonder if I am old enough to sneak in. I get a good view and more boiled cabbage than I can eat. May have to take my own chair as the stackable plastic ones I know are very uncomfortable. -

Have they gone back to selling windows. One of the reasons that I decided not to continue in the domestic energy market was the volatility of it. Chickens coming home to roost now though. -
Good, will stop then going into most National Trust places.

If they manage to stay open. Catering and hospitality is taking a real hit at the moment and food prices are set to rise again this autumn, and that is on top of the lack of staff. -
I just hang around with radio people. Was chatting to one this evening, though he does more on TV these days.

Have a look at A2AHPs. Air to air heat pumps can be very efficient for space heating and some are quite cheap.

Not if you have to top up the vehicle during peak times. I think V2G is for pensioners, not the normal working person. A 7 year old Leaf will only go about 100 miles on a full charge, take half of that for a hot bath and keeping your house warm, then there is not enough left for most rural people. Not as if we are all going to get a new EV with a 90 kWh battery, most will be sub 30 kWh.
