  1. Ventongimp, Polyphant and Cocks would have been better.
  2. Does hat not just add extra air to the exhaust. Bit like the 'rev hang' on a car to burn off the uncombusted hydrocarbons.
  3. Just for a laugh, time how long it takes to burn. For even more fun, weight it as well.
  4. Too late, it is on the wireless. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0dwpwx9
  5. Yes. This, along with misguided thinking, is really the problem. There is a council run recycling centre near to where I live. Trouble is, it only takes a few types of waste, is only open during the day, and then takes the recycling to the commercial waste company, who bundle it up and take it to the W2E site at St. Awful. Probably easier if the commercial operator, who do the household waste collection, just picked it up from the streets and sent it direct to the bundling station.
  6. One should be careful about unbalancing each string (DC input). Depending on roof angles and sun angles, you may get a higher than expected incidental input. I would think that if the system was too powerful for the inverter, eventually it will shut down for safety reasons. So while it may not be optimal, it should be safe.
  7. Same with dogs. I would ban them as well.
  8. He was talking crap then. It is the PMs that they are trying to reduce now, there has been legislation for over a decade about treated timber. Trouble is, without enforcement, it is toothless legislation. With the reducing in ICE cars, especially in towns and cities, the wood burning brigade will have run out of places to hide behind. Did BREXIT pass you by.
  9. Yes, that is a good period. Mine is 1Wh or 6 seconds, which is good as I can easily calculate the zero power draw percentages.
  10. Bad. The off cuts could be recycled into chipboard, or similar. Burning them in a Waste to Energy plant would probably be best at the moment. That way, emissions are strictly controlled, and we all get a bit of electricity, a higher grade, lower entropy sort of energy..
  11. So almost enough to show a kettle boiling. Unless it is a really large, full kettle.
  12. Trust the tool, SMA are not brilliant at customer service. I once stuck 3.5 kWp on a single string 3 kW SMA inverter (can't remember the model number, it was the very light one). Worked a treat and apart from the fan on full chat, would take 3.8 kW in occasions. Make sure the inverter can draw in cool air, external air preferred. They can chuck out a lot of thermal energy when clipping.
  13. Do you know the sampling rate? From the charts it looks reasonably fine.
  14. 14,989,025 Zimbabwean Dollars
  15. I shifted my heating window by an hour yesterday. It had usually finished heating up the storage heaters by 6 AM. Noticed this morning that the room was a little cooler than normal, but so was the external air temperature. May try shifting the time by 20 minutes.
  16. Well that should limit disproportionate heat losses. What you could do, is fit a secondary timer and let it run full power until the last hour, then pulse the input, say 12 minutes on, 6 minutes off. See if that helps the overshooting. Can always play about with those timings.
  17. Guaranteed to have no dogs there.
  18. Not in this household.
  19. I am always worried when there are quotes like that. Much easier to not fit a wood burner, going to be banned in the not too distant future.
  20. Area or diameter? Will make quite a difference.
  21. How much insulation is under the slab? As a R or U value would be useful.
  22. Yes. Pointless trying to be too clever. Stick to the rules, collect your evidence, and never get emotional.
  23. I use Brave, built in. I would not use it for anything serious, but for a cheap, secure, file transfer, I don't have a problem with it.
  24. There was a craze I the UK for 'thermodynamic' heat pumps about 12 years ago. They seemed to be just modified fridges. Have you got a picture of the ones you are looking at?
