  2. Imaging two rooms in your house, both 3m by 4m, so 12m2. ONE is at the North East corner, with the 4m side running along the North wall. The other is on the diagonally opposite corner, with the 4m running down the West wall. The thermal losses, and gains, could be quite different.

  8. It does seem odd to me, but then I am odd, that people obsess over something that we spend around 1/50th of our time doing. If a DHW system has limitation, learn to live with them, 7 million people with E7 manage it.
  9. As usually, you don't understand the very basic physics. That is the flow rate of the hot water only (in the example I gave) it then gets diluted with cold to make it a usable temperature. So the flow rate from the tap will be higher. And anyway, 10 lt/minute is a pretty good shower, you don't get twice as clean by doubling the flowrate. While I agree with this, for the occasional times that you have to because of higher usage, it is cheaper than having a secondary cylinder. Not much difference, but are you not fitting an ASHP in your place?

  11. Being tidy improves productivity. In my experience, it tends to be one or two people that make all the mess and slow everyone down.
  12. Cylinders can be reheated right after usage, they don't need to wait until the bathroom is vacated. I would think that most households have the same problem regardless of heat source. If a combi boiler has a flow rate of 10 lt/minute at the desired temperature, it can reheat a cylinder at pretty much the same rate as it can come out the tap. Really down to the power of the system, not the volume stored. Not as if anyone uses hot water when it is too cold bath in i.e. <35°C, so the cylinder is not totally cold i.e. ground temperature ~8°C. As @JohnMo says, if you are really worried, get an inline heater or just fit a couple of immersion heaters. Immersion heaters are the cheap option. 5.5 kW of heating into a 300 lt cylinder will raise it by 20°C in just over an hour. If the flow rate of a shower is 10 lt/minute, that would supply 3, ten minute showers an hour, but in that same hour, more than half the energy would have been replaced, so 5 showers an hour. And that is just for a 20°C replacement rate. Cost to run would be about £3.50, near enough the same as a Costa Coffee, and that only has 0.25 litres of hot water in it. We also should be striving to us less water overall. This year I have reduced my usage by around 50 litres a day, I don't think my life has suffered, or my personal hygiene. Can't say the same for the car, that is pretty grubby, by my succulents in the garden don't seem to care if they have water or not. If you are mainly shower people, rather than bath people, have you considered getting waste water energy recovery. That will save on running costs and reduce reheat times.

  14. May be a bad assumption, it depends on the water volume in your heating system is. Depends on your ASHP, they can calculate energy required from flow, return and OAT temperature difference. I assume you have already had a full, room by room, heat loading calculations done and you know tour pipe spacing for the lowest flow temperature you can satisfy the overall heat load.
