  1. Get this one fast. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394854400892
  2. I drove past there yesterday. Can't you find a similar model on eBay. What is the model number. Is it this one https://www.diy.com/departments/bosch-laser-distance-measurer/3165140791830_BQ.prd
  3. Happened down here at Cardis Bay after the G7. Not sure of they were removed or not. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-60333927
  4. That is why roof integrated is used in new builds.
  5. That is quite impressive. How much PV you got, and how much extra would you need to get it to 99% Thinking about what @JohnMo did with his 'winter solar fence'.
  6. Will this stop jerky hand syndrome when going full screen VideoCore VII GPU, supporting OpenGL ES 3.1, Vulkan 1.2 Dual 4Kp60 HDMI® display output 4Kp60 HEVC decoder
  7. Do you think my Pi 1s are vintage yet, and worth a fortune?
  8. But we still have childhood diseases, and pitchforks.
  9. Just been reading about it. They have fitted an RTC, but no battery to back it up. And still no ADC.
  10. Just had one of my long journey thoughts. Why not use rope to tie the roof structure to the ground. Even small dingy boats have quite large sails, the sheet (sailor boy talk for a sail rope) is quite thin. Could easily be thinner but it would cut into fingers. When I went climbing I think the static lines were 6 or 8 mm. They could stop 80kg after a seconds fall without hardly stretching at all, thankfully.
  11. I seem to remember that the standard has an odd methodology. Heat and use the hot water right away, then measure the losses in the residuals. So say the cylinder ends up at 30⁰C, the airing cupboard at 25⁰C, that is a delta of 5 at the start, may end up, after 21 hours at 27⁰C and 21⁰C, so delta 6. Looked at it a decade ago when I added a load of extra insulation around my E7 cylinder.
  12. Did they not announce a new grant, when they decided that climate change was fantasy and we need 300 million more barrels of crude, or was that in Scotland only.
  13. Is it a flat roof?
  14. Think that is built in with a 100 MPH wind at ground level. Getting a bit technical, the energy in a moving fluid as it hits an area is proportional to the cube of the velocity. So should not be too hard to do a rough calculation based on downward force and uplift. Then add in some safety because, as you rightly say, the failure mode is important. I tend to prefer a failure to be in very small parts, like a toughened windscreen. It can take quite a wallop before catastrophic failure, but after that, the main missile has lost a lot of energy, and the tiny bits of glass are so low energy that they are, in effect, intrinsically safe (maybe a few scratches).
  15. Yes, saw that happening as I drove past your place 4 hours ago, thankfully the speed limit was raised up to 60 MPH today, no one wanted to see your goat and mofo.
  16. I don't comment on people's house designs, but I guess, from the look of it, you don't want PV.
  17. Could have been covered with some walk on glazing. Wasn't there a bit floating about on here that would have fitted perfectly.
  18. Want it coming on when the DHW is as cold as you can get away with. The heat transfer is better, the greater the temperature difference. I would hope a lot less than that, if not, add more insulation.
  19. How small is the car battery though. In my opinion, it is best to design your electrical needs to be as low as possible, both in power and energy. Only if that proves to be impossible, then consider 3phase. The use of local storage can mitigate the maximum power problem a bit as you can draw from the battery for an hour or so.
  20. Not necessarily, you can get insulated plasterboard that can be glued to the wall. One thing to remember is all your sockets may need to be adjusted as the cable may not be the correct length, and you may need to get some rating calculations done on them. Also, if you use polystyrene insulation, it must not touch PVC cables. Also, also, think about any pipework, shirting and coving, and window cills.
  21. If you take the plaster away, you get another 12mm or so.
  22. If the trees are badly affected by Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, the new name for Chalara fungus, then you need to get it disposed of correctly. Hanging it on an outside wall will not be a responsible way of using it.
  23. By 1000 to make it a k (kilo, thousand)
  24. Power is in watts (W, not w, and not Watt, that is the man it is named after). A watt is a joule per second, (a joule, J, named after Joule, is the unit of energy). To make life difficult, power is multiplied by 100 and then by time to end up with the kWh. So energy is now in kWh (not KWH, KwH, kw/h or anything like it). The kWh is a horrible unit, especially as we have a unit for energy, the joule.
