  1. The trouble with a plant room, is usually it's a mess of odd sized "things" connected by lots of pipes and cables, which even if done neatly, is still some industrial eyesore to most people. So no I would not have that in a WC. But in our case we are having a combined utility room and WC. I thought BR might have something to say, but they are happy with it. all they want is an accessible toilet and space to fit a shower in the future. They don't care if it also has a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the same room, and they don't care if instead of a wash hand basin I have a kitchen type sink in a kitchen base unit instead.

  4. Do look into it further. Not all services are off limits for zero rating. For example, plumbing is a service and is clearly zero-rated for a new build. I don't know the answer in this case, but suspect it may depend on how closely associated with the building of the house it is. Muckaway following digging of foundations would be closer to that than reshaping a nearby bank for landscaping purposes, for example. Hopefully @Temp will be along to give some more guidance in the near future!

  5. Spiders inside have the use of: a - Convincing your girlf that you are a hero. b - Allowing your girlf to convince you she thinks you are a hero as a diversion from something else you won't discover until it is a done deal. Choose A or B. Agreed on wasps, particularly stepping on underground nests. We have far too many flies this year, which we deter using big bunches of mint in water replaced every 2-3 weeks. Do wasps deter bats? Ferdinand

  7. We have vaulted ceilings in our bedrooms and bathrooms. Some are symmentrical and others (e.g. bathroom) are not symetrical, but still at full height. Our smallest vaulted room is the bathroom at 3.25m x 2.4m - the ridge of the vault is along the longer side. I think this works extremely well, the vault and asymetry are aestehtically pleasing (to us) and add a degree of quirkiness into what could otherwise be more box-like. You are welcome to take a look if you happen to be in the area (Aylesbury). I attach a picture of another vaulted area to give you a feel of ours (not the one described above). Image is from larger bedroom through to smaller dressing area (vault is not symmetrical here) through to bathroom. We do not intend to fully tile the bathrooms - only to height set by shower screen and half-height for the rest, as dictated by boxing for suspended toilet and sink (green bit in the image).

  8. I have the solar iboost for my system. Not much to say about it. Works away and diverts the electric with no issues to date so far.
