  1. As requested from 7.30 this morning 4 concrete guys arrived installed mesh on chairs, 9am pump arrived, 10 am first load of concrete arrived one hour later second lorry, then we ran out oops 32 tonnes not enough quick call and another load. Levelled then left for 4 hours before panning then blading and power floating main house being polished to an aggregate show so 4 mm will be ground off, before polishing, the workshop area will be powerfloated with only poloshing no aggreagate show so the guys are still working on that area just took the pics now should look like glass before they finish. Polishers come in 4 weeks today cant wait.

  2. Alas it might not be that simple. There is every chance that the rails are mortice and tennon into the newel posts. If you remove some paint from the sides you might be able to find the peg/dowel and drill it out but if it was glued as well you'll be swearing a lot. Spindles should have fillets holding them in place. Often just pinned in place but years of paint could see them set fast. Have be a look here for an idea of construction: http://www.wonkeedonkeerichardburbidge.co.uk/hallmark-stairs-instructions-traditional-method/

  3. I'm a big fan of tile skirting. No paint, no maintenance and look great. What do you need a mitre saw for?

  5. Reminds me of when I was a young boy. There was a building site near us and at weekends we used to love exploring the part built houses. One weekend, they had left the starting handle with the dumper. So what do young boys do? put the handle on the shaft and give it a spin. I don't think any of us expected the dumper to start and of course none of us knew how to stop it, so we just scarpered.

  6. Oh how I laughed when first I made that mistake! Oh how flew the handle - like a homesick Angel! A beautiful high tumbling arc straight into Diglis yacht basin in Worcester, by the river Severn. Oh how I cursed.
