I keep hearing that. Do you really mean the engine sump that holds the oil in the bottom of the engine? I have never heard of an engin sump rusting through. OR do you mean the sump guard, as in that usually rusty metal plate put there under the engine to protect it from knocks off roading? Mine is only 10 years old so well inside the window and I was told it was the date it was logged into the process that mattered not how old it is when any work is done.

I smoothed our daughters tray underside, which was awful, with isopon and a piece of plate glass, dead flat, to ensure we had a perfectly flat surface to mate with the trap, seems to have worked - all done dry- no ct1 and no leaks 4 years on.

But that is real life. Your reinstatement is based on normal terms, not self builder, buying carefully, working long days efficiently etc. Realistic pricing is £2500/m² possibly more depending on spec.

It went down and they failed it on a wheel bearing and a loose CV boot. So I brought it back fixed it and dropped it off in April

I need to route a rain water drainage pipe under the concrete slab. As you can see from the image there is only about 150mm clearance from the top of the pipe to the underside of the concrete slab (red line) Part H indicates that I need to encase the whole pipe in concrete, but I didn’t find it very clear and wondered if anyone can provide any further guidance on how I should do this. I also wonder whether I should change the pipe for socketed?

To me that's very expensive. Once the VAT has been returned I've built it for £200k. With two good men on £250 a day, you'd still get it done for less than £400k. It's amazing how much money people waste on dead labour, people who hide, and project managers. I should be greatful really as they keep me busy.

I was wondering how it worked. If on 29th July they decide mine needs some work, I was hoping it would not go away immediately as that would be the rest of the camping season buggered. Even if they supplied another pickup as a loan vehicle it would not have the electrics and tie down points needed to use it with the demountable camper. Or had yours been for the inspection before 15th April? I keep hearing stories of the truck being away for months, which would be fine if it was after October.

I thought my test piece was fine - see photo with a wider span than needed and no leveller... I thought people used this stuff under screeded underfloor heating pipes on suspended floors ?? I am thinking that with 15mm plus cementitious leveller on top it would have good compression strength and seems nice and stiff compared to thinner backer board. The stilhetto test seems pretty extreme (I havn't seen a man in stilhettos since a trip to Key West). I could stick 10mm backer board to the bottom of a piece of 12mm ply I suppose ? Never seen or used compacfoam so not sure what it is really like ? Polystyrene bears loads but not point loads. Come on England ⚽

Make sure the sink is there when they come to template the worktops. If I recall correctly, they took the sink with them to engineer the fittings, and of course brought it back again when they came to fit the worktops. They also had sight of the tap, that in our case had to be mounted in the worktop with the tap position aligned with the joint between full bowl and half bowl. They do this all the time, they should know what they are doing.

Structural warranties are a bit strange, as the cover is often for 10 years with a one-off premium. Rebuild costs in 10 years could possibly double so it is difficult to judge what level you would need.

Wow, Thanks Nick. They did say the sink will be adhered/sealed to the underside of the worktop, but no mention of any tabs, or doing this with the quartz upside down. We are looking to have both the kitchen sink and the utility sink with no overhang at the edges because both will have accessories that fit over the sink. So the join line between worktop and sink will be visible and need to be very tidily finished and sealed with an appropriate colour of sealant/adhesive. Templating has been delayed until mid July as they insist the kitchen is fully finished with it's missing pieces first. Especially as our quartz colour was discontinued 18 months ago and they found some of the last slabs at a place in Scotland for us back then. So any cock-ups on the cutting and the whole job will be screwed. Happy with that as a temporary panel fitted by the kitchen people has already been knocked out of place slightly by the sparky. Yes, ours is booked in for it's "inspection" at the end of July. But my MOT tester has said he would be amazed if they think ours needs a new chassis, he says it is sound. The camper will be demounted for the inspection and any work needed I demount it for the MOT otherwise you are very limited which test stations can accommodate you. The only complications are the air assist suspension (a Toyota listed factory option) and some electrics for the camper to plug into. How long was it away for your chassis replacement?
