Hmm that's interesting..... With my 115 Litre old tank I'd have to heat the water to 60 deg C (was my legionaires cycle once a week) for it to stand a chance of a long soak in a bath that makes Mrs Alien happy (That would be initial fill and a couple of top ups) which would pretty much mean I got just enough warm water left for a shower. With my new 180 Litre tank I'm doing it to 55 Deg for her bath night (I'm just doing it earlier to allow for a longer heat soak) and she had her normal bath with top ups and I had a shower and then we both had showers the following day and still didn't run out of HW Rest of the week we heat to 45-48 Deg C I'm thinking I might drop it to 50 Deg for bath night and maybe move to a once a month "60 deg sanitisation cycle" - temp isn't going to be much different to daily target and it uses a fair chunk of energy to get the tank up to 55 compared to 48

Couldn’t you join a twin wall flue to your chimney? Might not need a flue liner or chimney breast? Would need the advice of a HETA installer of course

im south facing with 2 sets of bifolds and its been fine. Mine is SPC for what its worth, but its ok so far.

when i was considering the flooring the first thing my man said was "no way with that size of floor area and a bifold door" it will always buckle and move about only suitable for small areas with no direct sun problems thats what he told me and said if i want to use it --he would not be doing the job

investigate and solve damp problems - do not try to disguise it find the problem and fix it once

We have a large area of agricultural slab, so it is just like hand mixing but with a very big shovel. I hadn't seen it before. 1.5m3 mixed in 20 mins. Without the slab it wouldn't work so easily. Could prob do it in the dumper but rougher and slower work. I was very happy not to be mixing and shovelling 1.5m3 using the small mixer.

Well I thought I was on to a good thing. I used a 1/2 brass nipple and the 1/2 ID 3/4 OD silver adaptor from the setup @Iceverge suggested. cover plate screwed on beautifully. Annoyingly, the threads are too close together! I used the back plate below so the spacing should be perfect, but something hasn't worked out right (checked that two shower mixers don't fit). I don't know if the bar got bent slightly and has the threads angled towards each other? I guess it's back to the blasted cranked connectors.

I thought my digressions were bad lol. All depends on use and how you’ve set it all up / where it lives etc. If fitted in a typical UK home, brick and block, draughty, full of rads that will be on flat out to keep the place ‘almost warm’, and lots of high temp DHW runs, then I’d say you’d be lucky to see 10 years out of it. In your house, can’t recall if you have PV or not, it’ll live a nice ‘low temp life’ and prob last 15 years minimum. Subject to routine and preventative maintenance obvs, but in a nutshell if it moves it’ll break one day, so pumps = head and fan = handle, Trigger.

Sorry maybe didn’t make myself clear enough, I already have a chimney with a concrete flue liner already installed. So it would just be a case of knocking through to it and then inserting a flue liner, which I could then bring out into the living room

I've had a cold water store in the loft for the 35 years we have been in this house - I've never found anything in it except for a little bit of sand and limescale - am I alone in feeling left out of this joyous discovery?

My plan is to do a 10bar pressure test with deionised water for 1 hour and then violently vent it so that there is a good flow rate through that lower section. If it passes that, then all good in my eyes. Deionised water may help to dissolve some of the crud, if not no worries.

Fitted quickstep in 2020. Joints on the 300mm wide stuff wasn't quite square. Was passable but not perfect and only showed after I'd done a bit. Can't remember ins and outs contacted them after a few rows. Supplier said to crack on will straighten out. Didn't straighten out, ended up refunding me for the whole lot and then some as I remember.

Yes you can. I would thoroughly recommend you get help from a local installer. We did, we are lucky enough to have a really great guy who went through our design in detail in return for us buying all the bits from him. I probably could have got the bits cheaper on t’internet but the difference was a small price to pay. Not sure you want to attach the liner directly to the register plate mind…

Fitted quickstep here, really easy DIY job. As everyone has said, follow the expansion gap instructions to the letter. I undercut the skirting to keep an expansion gap and clean lines. I didn't want to undercut a tall kitchen panel and cut the plank with a 2mm gap to look good, inevitably that's the one point that made contact in the latest heatwave and that gap needs increasing.

Nothing really. So zero impact. Will likely wash out, after x number of litres has flowed through it / over time. People are bathing in dead pigeon / marinated mouse water every day, if they have cold water storage tanks in their attics, and to the best of my knowledge these folk simply enjoy ignorant bliss; none have sprouted feathers or grown tails, I am reliably informed….
