  1. Past hour
  2. I have some different ones (Deta) not listed yet, Scottish building regs compliant. Normal cost is £150 each. They do temp and CO2 instant readings and list CO2 average for last 8 and 24 hrs, plus peak over last 24 hrs. I have one new, still in box, and one used - £70 and £30 each. Can post, PM if interested. They look like this
  3. Fark me there expensive. how much to a mate 😉
  4. We have a gas hob, so was thinking of that with the monoxide, or isn’t that something to think about.
  5. I got one off ebay or amazon about £70 shows co2, temp and humidity. You do get a bit obsessed by it and have to pack it away after awhile
  6. Was compliant with that. Was done as we put up the walls Was compliant with that, new build house Was compliant with that. No other water connected to house
  7. Which bit, that I paid vat up front, or claimed it back?
  8. I used an express can direct in to the normal filling loop. Adey MC1+ Rapide. Just remove the actuators and put back on the decorator caps. You unscrew them anti clockwise to remove.
  9. Today
  10. Your budget is not unrealistic for 80m2 and if you are into it for the long term you can do a lot of the work yourself and pay for it as you work. The up front lump will be your plot cost!
  11. Thanks, how do you put inhibitor etc in, no Glycol. We are but the manifold went in before we chose to go that way, only three loops no independent control of the loops other than by the flow meters which once set are left. That is what I thought.
  12. I think we're mostly on a par with Germany in terms of highest costs. It's no surprise given both rely so much on gas. But there are so many inconsistencies that make little sense from the perspective of an environmental policy. We still subsidise fossils fuels to the tune of £17.5 billion per year. The greatest increase in electricity costs are relating to wholesale costs and social/environmental costs on the average bill since 2021. It seems strange given the profits made by producers and that Gas has not been significantly levied from a social and environmental perspective, but is privy to significant subsidies beyond the subsidies available for renewables. Yes, the government has announced some reductions for electricity in the budget, but we'll have to see how that pans out in reality.
  13. Thanks, I did template having the 2nd step similar to the first but it just didn't look right from the sides. Felt better with it being set back and square.
  14. when and where and we'll try and make it, can't promise as depends on other commitments though
  15. I guess i’ll have to. To be honest, I thought i’d be laughed at as soon as I mentioned my budget and the fact that I have no finances saved up haha
  16. I literally have no idea haha. I imagine that i’d be looking for no less than a 0.025acre plot, but definitely no bigger than 0.03. I keep getting confused when people talk about sqm costs because when people say Xsqm, are they talking about the floor plan dimensions? Or the GIA? And when people refer to figures like £3k/sqm - is that supposed to be land and build incuded? Or just the material and construction costs?
  17. Things may have changed but we included an invoice (for windows, including installation) in our claim and HMRC told us that the company should have zero rated the invoice, so we should go back to them and get them to re-issue the invoice without VAT and refund us the amount. So to avoid later hassle it may better to make sure the contractor is happy to zero rate the amount. We had to supply the windows people with copies of the planning permission so they were covered if their VAT inspector asked any questions. They were only too happy to sort things out - fortunately!
  18. Wrong thing all together. CO2 is what you need. There are a couple I'm selling on eBay. https://ebay.us/m/MC8XHB
  19. My day job isn't climbing scaffold or screeding concrete so barring any disastrous health problems I expect I could do it until at least then.
  20. We paid vat on our borehole and pump and filters to contractor. But included in our VAT submission, which I believe got paid.
  21. I wouldn't - you need to insulate well - not an easy job. If you are running glycol they are useful (but why would you) if not they are not needed. Thought you were running an open system, if don't bother installing at all. The control valves push pin down to close off loop. The flow meter screw out to increase flow. No, your 3 port valve does that job for you.
  22. At brief glance I reckon they're inline with most other European economies? Exemptions being the Nordics with good hydro and nuclear and Hungary and Turkey with government price controls? On the other hand I think private enterprise short termism is a bad fit for vital public services like transport, energy, water etc . The likes of EDF and Thames Water should be trading only in decades long bonds to force them to take a long view rather than normal shares and dividends.
  23. It’s CO2 that you need to measure and monitor
  24. Radical Thinking - but maybe where we are heading. Our children, in their 30s, will defo not retire before 70!
  25. It's an issue. In the UK 60 years ago there was 4 workers for every pensioner. It's closer to 3 now. In the 1960s pensioners were 6% of the voters, now they're closer to 18%. Policy is following the votes. Underspending on new housing, infrastructure, energy and education in favour of protecting homeowner tax breaks, pension protection and old age healthcare. These policies aren't economical productive so the county is suffering. Retirement should be raised to 75 years old to match the 1960's ratios or this problem will deepen.
  26. Nice job @FuerteStu Only my opinion, but i wish you had curved that second step. However, fab job, pat on the back.
