Started roofing and I’m slightly disappointed that the appearance of our Danum TLE roof tiles looks almost plum coloured instead of dark grey. Will the colour change when it weathers in? Certainly doesn’t look dark grey to me 🫤

In 1990 maybe! BC CGAF these days. They want signatures off the principal designer and contractor these days along with gas and electrical certs, so they take the money, give it a v quick look and FO. If any problems they pass the buck to the relevant person who signed taking responsibility. It's a mess.

A vote here for a sprayer. I bought one for our place as couldn't get decorators to even look at it let alone quote. Masking isn't much more than with a roller, you can buy rolls of pre taped masking film for doorways/windows. It is vastly more quicker than a roller and I would say a better finish but let that be in the eyes of the beholder. The only downside was cleaning the gun and hose etc between colours as we didn't have running water which meant lots of tubs of water to flush it through which was time consuming. Its a Titan Control max 1900, brill machine but it struggled a bit with thick paint like Tikkurila Optiva 5, someone recommended flow and bond and was a lot better after adding that. But time over would have got a more powerful unit. Definitely would recommend.

Hi all I’m in the process of sourcing my self build warranty. the broker has given me a quote and Castle checkmate is the most competitively priced. I never intend to claim but need the warranty for remortgaging or if I decide to sell in the first ten years. my queries are is this a good reputable warranty for banks? the max they offer is a £1 mill rebuild cost which is bang on what my build is costing. i was advised by the broker the warranty should cover the rebuild to watertight shell. obviously I may decide to spend more on my interior/home tech/cinema etc but this isn’t necessarily a requirement of the warranty cover. Will the banks in future for remortgage purposes be happy with the £1 mill cover (excluding land) to wind and watertight thanks

One thing I forgot to mention and not clear in the photograph is the left hand wing of the table saw was bent downwards about half an inch so I was trying to accomodate for this as well when cutting the cls, so obviously this just added to the danger. I have since sorted out that bent left wing - a couple blows with a lump hammer at the top of the support struts where they connect to the table surface sorted that right out, so now the surface is completely level. But yeah I'll no longer be using the table saw for cross cuts, I don't really have the space or £'s for a mitre saw sadly I'll use another type of saw for now, its called a hand saw. Thanks all.

Apparently there is a difference depending on relative surface areas, so an aluminium rivet in SS is bad, but a SS screw into aluminium is not so bad. Chlorine generation from electrolysis is the biggest problem. Would be interesting to look at the mountings on the Marina Drive property that is less than 50m from the sea and is frequently battered by sea spray. The PV has been there about 15 years.

Yes, an error there. It would take a lot of paint to cover 1.5km2, as it is 1.5 million square metres and would take about 150,000 litres of paint to do a single coat.

😮 With spraying I think the masking time is the killer. It might be you can accept some comprimises to get it done. For example if you don't have floor finishings /electrics in and your ceiling is white and you are at least misting the walls white then maybe you can get away with just masking the windows and doors and treat the white as undercoat for any skirting or woodwork you have installed.
