  1. Yesterday
  2. Just to put this to bed, job done. Just need to foam it in and tape it up, which I can't do until we have chosen our light position. Cutting a board down it's depth is horrible, but it meant I got rid of the remaining 50mm stuff I've had hanging around for years. Cheers Nick, onto the next thing.
  3. Like we already said the answer is moving all the time so 42 won't cut it in today's race. FWIW I think this thread is interesting because this technology has so many implications for us all and although we are just experimenting the opportunity to do amazing things is tantalising and, frankly, we / they have not found the killer application yet and that may come almost as probably from amateurs playing as professionals trying to crack it. The local platform arms race to top or bottom is really an aside. As you say you can already spend 10K on a card always assuming your rings (mains) can supply the power. Pretty soon fan coils and UFH won't be the only things your average ASHP will be cooling!
  4. Not heard this, and I would not be doing 4mm radials unless someone had a gun pointed at my last beer in the fridge.
  5. Oven cannot go on to a ring main, again ( @Pappa ) this needs a dedicated RCBO and it's own cable to an isolator.
  6. Been 'a thing' since the 18th iirc. No, a dedicated RCBO and a single cable to an FCU is required for an integrated microwave, but things like Quooker taps and warming drawers can go on a ring main socket.
  7. Good outcome, and thanks for the update.
  8. Thread tidied. As you were people. The management.
  9. You are right about that. I think we’ve hit a wall and are totally fed up with all the problems and decisions. Just as we thought we were on the home run, this came up.
  10. I'd be spitting off the oven (due to the potential load) and fridge/freezer (to protect the contents if the ring trips) onto separate circuits.
  11. UPDATE……. so after emailing and posting the letters by hand, the builders truck arrived at the neighbours yesterday. This morning I was doing some work outside and the neighbour called by and said the builders aren’t starting Tuesday now. They (neighbours) put a halt to it to clear up what’s going on. Said builder said he would deal with communications, they didn’t know what was involved with access or PWA. Didn’t want any bother so it’s paused until further notice. It was the first amicable conversation about it. So the builder is available for work now if anyone is interested 😁 In the meantime I’ve painted the fence, walls have a had a coat of brilliant white, jet washed and pointed slabs and oiled furniture. looks lovely for any future photos 👍🏻 Thank you
  12. This sounds interesting. Can you tell me more please. How does this work exactly? See Thread Wiring for freestanding lights?
  13. I’ll give you a 69
  14. I am waiting for the ultimate answer.
  15. A sane person . Problem is unified ram . Best on Nvidia is 96gb on rtx6000 that’s a 10k gpu card !!!! This is why Apple have ( unintentionally) jumped to number 1 for local llm .
  16. Reseal while the bath is full of water. (Any downward movement of the bath will open the joins, and you avoid the sealant being put under tension whenever someone gets in the bath.)
  17. Mac mini, M4 is what I quoted and yes it's for sale, delivery on Wednesday.
  18. If you want to be able to put in any smart light switch modules at the light switches then putting in oversize/deep back boxes is goint to help a lot. Second fix, but you might want some smart sockets in due course - e.g. for the outside sockets to turn Xmas/Garden lights on/off remotely from inside the house, or in awkward to reach locations. Cabling and transformer niche's anywhere for LED strip lights ? Wire for a video door bell ? And the non leccy stuff - cat6, speakers cables, HDMI, telephone (though POTS is dying), fibre internet connection. Run conduit where feasible Are you going to have a small network rack/cupboard/shelf anywhere ? (Router. switch, NAS, assorted hubs)
  19. Remove as much as possible and try to get back to the order of assembly to make the best job.
  20. Why not get an RTX 5090 card for you desktop pc. True they don't have the shared ram but they should do all you need. I have a 3090 with just 24Gb of ram but it does all I need.
  21. Discussions here ,
  22. For completeness yes it’s on Amazon apparently at an inflated price .
  23. Yeah it said “ out of stock “ so that’s a clue . Screen grab is from now !
  24. When resealing baths with silicone, do you remove the screen or leave screen and join new to old?
