Good idea. Probably still have to be lucky to find a specific tile design though. I wonder if Amtico/other brands are missing a trick here. Presumably they could be approaching such stores and incentivising them to showcase their LVT designs and keeping a list. Then they could give LVT customers a list of where to find different designs locally - and the store would get more people through the door that are likely to be in the market for furniture.

I have completed a new house using an amc loan on some farmland,the interest rate with amc is higher than i would like though so looking to get a residential mortgage on the house now, which mortgage broker do people advise that doesnt charge fees unless mortgage is approved? The house is on a farm in central scotland Thanks

Like this... This is how ours is built. The bricklayers put a strip of PIR about 40mm wide into the blockwork. If I get down the site later I'll get a photo.

How many you reckon is needed on a 1200x600 WEDI panel into the brick? Searched the entire internet and can't find the answer...

So how do I add a W/M drain out to the attached layout without having the drain out pipe cross the 30mm/40mm waste pipes ? Drain out hose either needs to loop over the top of the basin waste to connect somewhere, or head off towards the sink with some kind of extender on the end. If it connects to the basin waste pipe there is no trap in line (basin has it's own bottle trap on the other side of the wall). Therefore would need a drain out trap of some type.

This sounds like a way forward. No, we did not lay ourselves, nor did we specifically ask the fitter to dry lay, mix boxes or look for repeats, but we didn't need to as they said they would when discussing beforehand and that's what they did. Only a couple of part tiles were moved, and this was only because they were very, very promenantly marked. For others reading, we chose to go to a large furniture store who actually had laid room size displays (on which they stood the furniture they were selling). Our installers had done similar in the showroom. This reinforced the need to choose a pattern/plank size we could live with. We then only used the small samples(1m x1m) to choose colours.

I am that plumber. During my renovations I had my washer on a hose that was about 5m long, absolutely no problem for like 3 years. Obviously not best practice but it certainly worked.

One other question. Do I finish the slab at the back of the inner leaf blockwork or should the slab come through the opening and finish level with the exterior leaf. If I do the later, do the bricks that close the cavity just sit on top of the lean cavity fill (left image) or should they sit on the concrete slab (right image) Eg, if you were looking at eye level from the front would it be the left or the right image below

This isn't holding up any of the second floor is it? If not, I can't see any reason to introduce FR here unless the BCO has mandated it? #canofworms A 'better' architect would have instructed you to thermally break the steels at their feet, but maybe not so much of an issue if they're in the cavity / cold spaces vs faced into the room. I would reduce the size of the window to accommodate some tile backer type XPS insulation board, wrapping 4 sides around it to thermally break it; 6mm would be 'better than nothing', but 10 or 15mm better, 20mm if that doesn't wreck the look etc. Stick the XPS boards to the steel with a non-silicone mastic, leaving no pathways for cold air to convect (horizontal lines, joining at the 4 corners, two or three of, plus some extra blobs in between).

Where do you find a plumber that does stuff like that ? I have had 4 plumbers and none of them are even close. Half my kitchen valves will be inaccessible behind the quooker tank. i can't rebuild my bathroom cupboard because the pipe is in the way. Here is another photo. The washer drain hose could (just) run behind the dryer to the sink area, but then the washer would not pull out because the pipe would be trapped behind the dryer. Plumber says no to extending it because it will then be hose clipped together and liable to leaking. Waste pipe has to go across the wall anyway to serve a basin waste which will come through the wall just to the left of where the pipes going across to the basin taps turn vertical. Why hasn't the downward stub been removed - plumber can't be arsed ? No accessible shut off valve for the cold water pipe to the washer yet.

Indeed! Just be sure to properly close any cavities, above the garage door / pedestrian doors & windows to make this properly FR. BCO's sometimes forget this, and one previous instance saw a head of doorway almost closed with only a 5mm strip of uPVC across the cavity; I chirped up and he quickly "added that to his list"...............as that needed to be closed with mechanically fixed FR PB, with all joints sealed with intumescent caulk.

What if was one of those knitted bed-throw blankets with all the holes in like your granny used to make? Actually, if you invested in a small herd of sheep or angora goats they would keep the shed warm in winter and you could skin them for extra insulation each year.

Is this attached or detached? Fire regs may need that closed and FR. Closing as per the pic is normal, and garages are classed as cold ventilated spaces so why would you care about a small cold bridge when the whole garage is 'cold'?
