Nope. It is a plastered brick wall. When it was bare masonry I realised the architect had missed a trick because the outer leaf of the house wall comes inside at the side of the new window, therefore it would need insulating. So added 20mm XPS backer board in a vertical strip to insulate that area as well as the window reveal. this brought the wall out, but I had it left recessed either side of the insulation at the bottom to make more room behind the washer and sink unit. As you can see the insulation has been cut into to fit pipes across. The other side of the wall where the wall cupboard is mounted is an understairs loo. So the water feeds run across and through that wall from the utility sink to feed the toilet basin. Likewise the toilet basin waste will come through that wall where the cross is on the wall.

Is that plasterboard dabbed on behind? You could remove it to get yourself another 25mm

There’s nothing wrong with doing so, just the difference being some use a screwdriver to put a self tapping screw in, and others use a hammer. Rivnuts would require machine thread screws vs ‘what’s going to be in the van’, so that’s not likely to happen.

Is export actually shown on the statement? Import/export can occasionally come through as two different statements for me. I presume you have a smart meter?

Unfortunately there is a wall on one side of the washer, and the tumble dryer on the other. The tumble dryer only just fits as these heat pump ones are 610 deep and the waste pipe has to run behind it to serve a toilet basin regardless. Having the washer drain hose feed across to the sink unit might be an option but it would need extending. I am looking to be able to pull the machine out in case of maintenance. There is no accessible valve on the water feed to the washer apart from the tap on the end behind the washer. I'll draw a diagram and post it - it's complicated - as they say. One thing made be laugh - I suggested moving the water feed to a different point on the copper pipework to ease routing the basin waste - plumber moved it, but left the feed stub I was trying to do away with and just sealed the end of it. After all why unsolder a T and replace it with a 90 when you can just cap it off. Then added the new feed position using these compression copper fitting things.

At least they are one of the better energy suppliers to talk with.

We are talking plumbers - most don't understand priority domestic hot water - rivnut no chance.

Seems rather crude just to screw into a casing, might be more robustly done with rivnuts or some such.

But up here is nearly the best wind conditions on the planet, so does make sense. I have no issues with them quite like seeing the blades moving, especially large turbines, small one spin to fast not quite the same

Yeah my shower is pretty much opposite the door as it is. Just wondering if the gypsum based vent as discussed in this thread is more prone to getting damaged from moisture being in such direct contact with steam.

Thanks Nick. I've installed before but many years ago and when using white components they were cheap and in abundance at most places plus a I was rendering the outside then. Anthracite grey in 110mm pipe and some fittings is bizarrely harder to get hold of. I've just had to correct the received quote this evening after they buggered it up somehow from a nice easy list. Couldn't get 4m lengths in this shade which the longer socketed end of a 4m would have been great to keep funnel type design so one will need to use a double socket 92.5 bend but it's in a less viewable elevation. Branches have 67.5 and 92.5. The 92.5 looked to be recommended for more of a horizontal run to the stack.

I drove from St Agnes to Penzance the other day. Think there are 12 small turbines scattered about, plus 1 wind farm. Hardly noticed them. The one in PZ is minus it's blades at the moment. All those turbines could be replaced with just 1 large turbine now. But that is not going to happen as the twats down here don't know the theory behind them and assume 1 large one is the same as a small one.

Sorry I don't mean I am personally hoping the English and Welsh get these wind farms and pylons in the numbers we have been "given" in Scotland. What I am saying is while for so long England in particular has banned them, they have instead been built up here so the good folk of England who largely make the rules, have not seen the blot on the landscape that they are, and if the good folk of England don't see them, they obviously think they are good.

You are instructing trades to do the opposite of what most do, ergo shit is hitting fans at a rate of knots here. I haven't put a washing machine tap or mains plug behind one for over 20 years. Ditto fridge, ditto freezer, ditto oven, ditto list goes on. You just ask them to migrate these supply's to the nearest adjacent cabinet and then put the hoses / cables to that location....... Why do you think it's so fecking long?!?

@Roger440 may already be suffering from this type of expansion, as he moved to deepest, darkest, but still picturesque Wales, and then the pylons started dropping.......
