Local (to me) low energy home builder goes into administration

These were the guys that did the design and all the drawings for our build, and one of their modular builds featured recently on Impossible Builds.

 

Sad news for 40 workers especially at this time of year.

As you say Dave, sad news indeed. Makes you wonder whether that 'impossible build' was the tipping point.

I suspect it was like I have seen before, they tried to grow too fast.  

 

As I understand it they took on a massive, 78 unit build.  I am not privy to the contract terms, but I don't suppose much of the payment would have been due until delivery or completion, but there is only so long suppliers will wait for payment and staff need paying.

 

There was mention on another source of £78K crowdfunding.  I guess those investors now join the list of creditors.

Very sad news for the staff at this time of year.

 

It does say that the administrators have put it up for sale. Hopefully if it is a cashflow problem and not a demand or profitability problem then someone will see value inn the business and there may be a chance that people get their jobs back.

The number of people affected is likely to me more as just about every tradesman around here has at some time done some subcontracting for them as indeed I did many years ago.

A lot of the time it’s simoly the banks pulling the plug

This is a job that we have gone back on in the Lake District 

Eight years ago the bank simply pulled the plug 40 apartments have been left to Rot ever since 

All the plaster and first fix has had to been ripped out

Good news for some at least.  I believe the houses shown in that picture were a collaboration between Carbon Dynamic and Pat Munro.
