Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations for an online staircase construction company. Would love to hear if anyone has worked with one and how it went.

My next question (and be nice, I am new to this) Can you get staircases made entirely of hardwood ply?

I like ply both for aesthetic reasons but also as a cost alternative to solid wood.

Many thanks,

Alex

I've used pear stairs quite a few years ago. They were good then but it was a while ago.

As for ply a joiners workshop will make you stairs out of it if you want. I'd be interested to see the finished result it could be really nice if you had the right kind of ply with decent layers.

Got mine from TK stairs in oak with MDF treads (carpet). They didn’t offer ply as standard, give them a call but you may be paying more than oak for something non standard.

As i say some interesting things you could do but you'd need a bespoke joiners place. Which you could find online. But it won't be one of the big names listed aboveaf1e308739a9cca280732286c3a27181-4160756376.thumb.jpg.22f56c293bee7d3cb96b03912f7b050c.jpg092d25f0eec31c38d3bcebbc53938969-955033987.thumb.jpg.10f9bf7f558b6050155113bfba8e9946.jpg4fa1f1e0498b1b8d02c519153baee955-2053656246.jpg.c352aa8548471a557eed8354f41bf094.jpg

There is a good reason that stair nosings are rounded.  Those look lethal.

I built mine from ply myself. And routed the nosing. Filled and sanded out looks and feels like solid wood but is silent.

Was quoted a silly price for it, so did it myself and I'm glad I did.

Thanks, I did template having the 2nd step similar to the first but it just didn't look right from the sides.

Felt better with it being set back and square.
