Big Jimbo Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I thought that might get the attention of @Pocster. As I get older, I think I know why older people prefer baths. Shower bases are blinking slippy, as I found out just now. Are all shower bases made equal, or do some have ridges, or rough bottoms to collect lime scale. All I know is mine is dead smooth, and somewhat disconcerting when wet. 1
Mr Punter Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I had some shower bases where it was as if they were covered in eel juice. Fortunately after a bit of wear they are slightly better. For the current development I have specified non slip Mira Flight. 1

ProDave Posted February 15 Posted February 15 We have a wet room with tiled floor. The choice of tiles was based on what was likely to not be slippy when wet, and we chose rough tiles that resemble sandpaper when dry not flat and shiny. 2

Big Jimbo Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 And that's the problem. Cleaning. I can easily clean the shower tray after use. I expect the rough faced one's are more difficult.
ToughButterCup Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Rough tiles are no problem: a glug of bleach, a brief scrub, wait a minute, rinse. Done. 1
bassanclan Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I've put in antislip shower trays. They have a texture a bit like sandpaper. They take some keeping clean, but better a dirty shower tray than a broken leg... 2

FarmerN Posted February 16 Posted February 16 White Stone Effect shower tray here. The one we have isn't slippy. Set flush with tile floor, open one end and works well. Needs a scrub with soap once every couple of weeks, easy and quick to do. 1
