HughF Posted November 26, 2023 Author Posted November 26, 2023 my suspicion is that I’ll need to spend a day or so playing with the PID settings. But for now, another fan coil to get on the wall.
dpmiller Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 remind us what "stop temp differential" you're set to- increasing that a degree might well save ploughing through the PID stuff too much

And it’s been running for the last 20 mins without stopping 👍 It’s ramping up and down, but it hasn’t stopped. I also bumped the weather comp up 1 degree as it was a little low at the current OAT. kP is 5c kI is 100 secs (iirc) kD is 0 Edited November 26, 2023 by HughF
HughF Posted November 26, 2023 Author Posted November 26, 2023 Still going, using 930w from the mains - finally….

Seems to be ticking along quite happily at the lowest modulation, until it warmed up this afternoon.
HughF Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 (edited) Dragging this thread kicking and screaming into 2025, it looks like some interesting developments by Chris and the team at SPRSUN over in China:- £1700 gets you the new, inverter driven version of the old 'Pro' unit - in a more sensible 6kW output https://coolenergyshop.com/collections/air-source-heat-pumps/products/proinverter-air-source-heat-pump-6kw That's a decent price. No idea if it's built on the Carel platform, for that money I expect not, but it has a particularly wide modulation ratio - considerably wider than their r290 unit, or the older r410a units that I, Marvin and dpmiller are running. alfaTom Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Thanks for the update @HughF. I'm currently in the process of arranging delivery of an ASHP & UVC from CoolEnergy via their MCS grant service. All the other installers wanted an extra £6k on top of the BUS, whereas CoolEnergy can supply the units and do the commissioning for the grant effectively "free" as long as I can arrange the install. I'm looking at the CE-IVT10-EVI which is billed as 4.89kW - 10.47kW @A-3/35. There is a newer model, the CE-ET10 but the capacity on this was slightly smaller at 3.89kW - 7.46kW @A-3/35). It's not on their website yet as far as I can tell. I've attached the spec sheet incase it helps anyone else. Once I've got hold of the kit I'll report back on ease of install & findings. CE are working from my sizing - heatpunk shows roughly 8kW heat loss for the property. Couldn't get any heatgeeks or other engineers to attend to review and they all quoted £14k+ to fit ASHP & UVC.

Everybody else quoted silly money above the BUS grant.

Kind of unit that would also suit me. They have 2 left in stock. But where is the data sheet about it?

SteamyTea Posted March 1 Posted March 1 @Gone West Thanks I am assuming there is a typo in the datasheet. 9.3 kW input seems a bit high for a 6 kW HP.

It has been like that forever and I told them about when I enquired. I guess it's a small company trying to do a good job but it can't quite yet sweep in all the corners. All my dealings with them have been good, professional and supportive.
Wil Posted Monday at 13:40 Posted Monday at 13:40 CE’s MCS route worked well for me under the old RHI scheme- Friendly surveyor came out once I’d confirmed install and did the MCS cert and submitted. Job’s a good’un. Had a few foibles with my 3phase 18kW unit but mostly around the compressor terminals causing tripping issues. Fixed now with a new set of connectors recommended by Chris.
