Onoff Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 When Hornby/Scalextric moved abroad, when we stopped making tellys here, when sub 6' policemen were allowed into the force...when text speak became acceptable, when the 3 R's lost their importance. The rise of fast food, when kids stopped getting off their ar5es to wash M&D's car for their pocket money... 2

Expand Tring is a nice place - worked there as a first job. The Tring bypass as it was in those days was a proper car proving ground! Mind you - I treat it the same way now in the RS only it goes all the way to the M25 with no cameras. Happy days.

Expand I think most train sets are bought by fathers to play with themselves - that was the case for me as a kid. Not knocking it - in today's world of work where everything is somewhat nefarious, it is difficult to feel a sense of achievement in many office type jobs so the pleasure of building something physical and permanent is understandable. I got back into building and detailing model aircraft a few years back (site work has put paid to that mind you!) and had really enjoyes making something physical and detailed. Got a few kits to make under the bed if I can ever be arsed!
