epsilonGreedy
The blocks in question are genuine medium blocks at about 15kg per block and not the 8kg fibolites I have used elsewhere in my build. My question originates from a need to tie (bond) one block wall into another at 90 degrees. One wall is already 9 blocks high and I will tie in every other course hence I will need to cut 4 or 5 of these sockets. I have a mortar gun that I will use to fill around the sides as each block is inserted into the socket. Would a masonry blade fitted to a multi-tool do the job? TonyT
Bolster chisel and mash hammer?
Vijay
hiring one of these? https://www.thehireman.co.uk/arbortech-brick-and-mortar-saw-110v.html Or use and angle grinder for the vertical cuts, then as TonyT says, hammer and bolster to remove it (or SDS it out after doing the vertical cuts) Edited May 29, 2021 by Vijay

Mr Punter
I would just use a couple of furfix / wall starters spaced 60mm apart for that bit. 5 minutes work.

Russell griffiths
As above, why block bond it, starter track bolted on.
PeterW
If it’s only the bottom courses then bluebirds in every joint will be fine or at worst a starter track that is what @Russell griffiths suggests. These are certified for it to 3 storey from memory also.
