Does anyone know of a supplier of flame retardant meter boards? Online I could only find CEF and they didn't reply to my email and in a CEF store I was told they couldn't get them.

Don't know if this is where you are headed with this, however I recently had my electricity connection completed and they brought their own flame retardant board on which to fit the cutout.

Apologies if if that is nothing to do with why you are asking ?

Western Power Distribution, I specifically asked the local scheduling guy what he needed in place ready to fit my cutout internally and he said nothing. They bring pre cut boards to fit in to built in meter cabinets and use the same ones to fit internally.

Just spoken to CEF Crayford and they could get one in for tomorrow and it'll be "£6 or £7". I reckon just phone your local branch or the next nearest and ask again quoting the stock code.

Denmans have them, I got one 2 weeks ago on a next day from another branch as my local had none in stock.

No idea on price, would need to check the chit.

All the new builds I do seem to use whatever bit of MDF / Ply / Chipboard the joiners happened to have kicking about / rescued from a skip, and the DNO (SSE here) have never questioned it.  All they seem to want is something they can fit a wood screw into.

The board in the back of my approved and newly purchased meter box looks just like a bit of chipboard to me, and nothing like the old, darker coloured boards from years ago, the ones that looked like they may have been treated with something.

.... stood off from the wall on porcelain insulators so a leak, and water running down the wall would not get into the meter and supply head.

Oh how standards have slipped.

Indeed they were!  IIRC they also often had a white printed plastic label on them, stating they were the property of such-and-such an Electricity Board, too.

City Electrical Factors have the flame retardant meter boards on stock.

They also have the spacers, they look like they're plastic not pot!

Let's turn this into a "spot the fault"

I'll start with pitch leaking from the head. 951 clamp on the earth (that can crush the cable resulting in a very big bang) and a SWA cable exiting the bottom of the CU with the armour not clamped at all.

EICR fail for me.
