  1. How do you fix cement board to block work walls? i have seen various solutions such as tile adhesive / grip fill and then mechanically fixed with screws. is this the general way? Also any ideas where to source fibre cement screws for timber walls, can't seem to find them at screwfix / toolstation
  2. I looked at the patches this morning, and they haven't got any bigger (yet). But yes it appears they can split if they freeze and there is guidance on this matter out there.
  3. i don't know if you are taking the pi$$ or not, but the extent of them haven't really changed but they have got damp again after my hair dryer drying (not deep drying). its about 3 degrees here, so i am not expecting much change in them. I think that the only real test will be when it thaws out, and i can put the system under a higher pressure again (over the 1 bar its indicating at the moment). Also checking on the the pressure in the system if that drops as it thaws. I may in the near future do a dig out of one of the biggest damp spots to expose the pipe and get an eyeball on it.
  4. yes the leaks that i can see are all in one loop, looking at other loop areas i can't see any other wet spots on the other loops, and am surprised that its not happened in other areas. weather is warming up from the end of the week and should thaw out the UFH pipes (if they are frozen), my plan is to see how it dries out and give the problematic loop a wet pressure test up to 4 bar and see how it fairs.
  5. looks like it was Grand Designs 'the street', a lady called Lynn https://www.savelikeabear.co.uk/grand-designs-the-street-recap/
  6. This is best practice to drain system, and probably best to use an air compressor to get most of the water out, at least if there is air in the pipes the water can compress into that as it expands rather than the pipe walls i would be interest to know what the grand design episode is. A quick google has this is a valid issue and one that should be considered. https://www.continal.co.uk/blog/preventing-and-fixing-damage-to-ufh-systems https://www.grantuk.com/media/3215/grant-uflex-ufh-installation-guide-rev0619.pdf Plumber phoned, and basically says that is is a unpredictable and unforeseen issue.
  7. It would freeze and thor during the day. Spoken to the ufh heating material supplier (5 mins from site). They strongly don't think that its there kit. As it's been pressure tested and it was o.k then not the pipe. They told me it's best practice to take the water out after pressure testing and not to have water in the pipe over cold unheated periods. In thier opinion its an oversight of the installer. I have sent the pictures to the plumber.....
  8. The water in the external hosepipe feeding the site are frozen you can hear the ice crack in the hose pipes when they are bent. Regarding the pressure I think that the one bar it's measuring is at the manifold and an 'ice plug' has formed. I do hope that I am wrong, going in there in a bit and see of the patches have changed from those marked out last night
  9. Absolutely bone dry above them, I am watertight other than two external doors
  10. Just gone back in, wet patches have returned (there are about 4 locations), f$%k. I just opened them so a short while and closed them back up.
  11. Used the hairdryer on a damp spot. After a few minutes the surface seems dry, now we wait.
  12. No I don't believe plumber put any in, it was filled a while back when it was really hot. Though the plumber has been back over the last few weeks doing first fix plumbing when it was really cold, never mentioned anything or putting antifreeze in.
  13. Right nicking my misses hair drier
  14. Fingers crossed
  15. The indoors is cold, as it hasn't got a couple of external doors fitted. I will try the drain valve and see if anything comes out, though that doesn't mean to say its not frozen elsewhere Edit: released the drain values on the inlet and out let of the manifold quite a lot, only a low flow came out of each. Gut says it's all pretty much frozen.
  16. No, shouldn't be
  17. My build is getting cold at night and ufh pipes are in, water is in them up to a pressure of one bar. Water in hose pipes are frozen and just checked in my build. I am seeing wet spots on the screed, unless it's my trades spilling thier teas it really looks like the ufh is leaking, feck.
  18. i don't work in France so don't know but i am sure www.google.fr will help.
  19. I know that he does a lot of the work himself, but its not clear in his original post it was him and an unpaid individual(s) and not him and employed roofers / other trade. Also how does a external person know that situation from the road?
  20. Not a specific one but.... http://eec.co.uk/ https://www.environ.co.uk/ https://caice.co.uk/ https://www.soundplanning.co.uk/acoustic-enclosures/ https://acousticenclosuresltd.co.uk/
  21. i thought they have the right to get on a site at any time. https://www.safesite.co.uk/blog/the-powers-of-the-hse-inspector
  22. We are getting the house boarded this week, and I just had a thought on the insulation of ducts to the exterior. Are this usually lagged with something?
  23. Some material prices as still going up, i was told earlier this week British Gypsum products are going up 17% in the new year.
  24. Yeah but if there is a problem its a simple fix for him now rather than a ball ache later. I am imagining this will be the final type of fitment, if so that water feed is coming bang on where the waste is
