  1. current renderer is complaining as the render is hanging in this weather, from a client perspective its taken ages and he's not getting many panels done 😐 Not sure if i will be using him again,
  2. The what now? Please explain like I am a confused labrador
  3. Or doesnt like the cold :)
  4. looking very nice, hopefully you will get some good progress in 2024.
  5. I just had this discussion with a renderer that is doing a few bits for me at the moment, he says 5 degrees and above. He is coming in tomorrow.
  6. Thanks for the input, i have ordered a simple 8 port switch, now on to mesh I have not come across the term 'mesh' before and look like its a good solution. I am currently looking at the TP-link system, if i were to use this system it seems i would need a Deco M9 plus which the virgin router would plug into. This would be at ground floor, then i would need a Deco E4R on each of the two floors above. Does that sound right? Any other cost effective mesh systems i should look into?
  7. That isn't something i have thought about much, my plan was to use the wifi in the virgin media router, for the ground and first floor and a AP up on the second floor. However you indicate this isn't a good idea, i'm all ears.
  8. I have decided not to have kids, not sure how to break it to my son and daughter 😃 I actually let my 10 year old try out the IM65 which he handled pretty well but got tired as its pretty heavy.
  9. well i'm f%^ked then, as i am a big kid. I have a IM65 that i have for a while, and i absolute love the thing, cladding is a doddle and also doing some horizontal slatted fencing with it which looks awesome.
  10. I have a rough idea but far too much 😀.
  11. i have just picked up an older IM350 for £50, which needed a second battery (£16 of ebay). Have a look on ebay for batteries and chargers https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252996687496?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=I1Fn5vPxTEC&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=WnEMtyMhSmC&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY i would clean and lubricate the slide as over time a bunch of the nail glue accumulates, for nails / gas i picked up these https://www.toolstation.com/fischer-550-double-galvanised-nail-gas-fuel-pack/p20608 I am about to use it to do a bit of closed boarded fencing and they should be plenty for what i am using them for. I will report back how i get on.
  12. its going to be interesting which way this goes, the 42 dB criteria is a very blunt tool, especially in rural locations. The alternative proposed is a step in the right direction, however i know that even in 'urban' locations background noise levels can be very low and the 40 dB assumption will fall down. The other instrument would be conducting a BS4142 assessment which is more in depth and costly as they go to site and measure the background noise levels. But these assessments are required by local authorities for plant not covered by PD. I have seen councils ask for a BS4142 noise assessment for single external condenser.
  13. Finally!!!! pretty much 2 3/4 years after breaking ground. I think that i will be having a drink tonight!!!
  14. The house is pretty much finished so i won't be running any more cables, there aren't any plans for VOIP and all the locations are in rooms and not cameras. But its three storey so i think that i will add a wireless AP on the upper floor. I was eyeing up these which would need PoE https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/32018-tp-link-eap115-wall/ However the single socket space is shared for Cat 6 and Tv aerial, so i don't have the space. So it looks like i will have to get a AP on the upper floor which is powered from a socket. have you got any links to ones you recommend?
  15. i though a hub was a switch? i don't think that i need PoE as its just going to rooms which should go to computers rather than powering anything. The way i see it working in internet comes into the house to a virgin router. The output from that router goes to a different area where the cat 6 cables all converge and the switch or hub distribute to the rest of the house?
  16. I have cat 6 to most rooms in my build, and i need to get a switch (min 6 port) to take in input from the router to each room. It needs to be a separate to the router due to the location of where the cat 6 cables all converge. Can anyone recommend a switch that won't bottle neck speeds and doesn't cost the earth. Also is it worth getting a PoE switch?
  17. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-and-social-schemes/boiler-upgrade-scheme-bus/property-owners my BUS voucher for £7.5k was granted this morning, and the installer is finishing up the commissioning next week, The installer i am using has said that the number of enquiries they have received since the increase has nuts
  18. yes it is, its available for new buids.
  19. I am trying to get myself sorted with documentation for building control practical completion sign off. Unfortunately the BCO is on leave this week so can't confirm with them. Things I can think off - electrical certificate (no gas) - ASHP commissioning report - Airtightness test report What else do you think
  20. Yes, we are having out ASHP installed (just the commissioning to go) and the installer has withdrawn our current application and going to re-apply on October 23rd for the new grant, which should mean an extra £2.5k for my dwindling budget.
  21. a lot of earth came out of the slope, and a bit retaining wall with waterproofing, neighbour is a right c*&k 😁 (its me)
  22. Yeah it's funny to think about all the little bits I've done on it. That cladding at the front on two sides, I had a quote of someone doing it for £2k labour. I booked at that and did it myself in just over a day. Looks good to me.
  23. The majority of the scaffolding is down. A long way to go still
  24. it looks like there is a course of green blocks just above the lintels, could this be thermal break blocks like Marmox (though strange to have it on external skin unless its a single skin construction?) Not sure what the pink foam sheets are under the green course. Interested to know more.
