  1. I don't like it. I don't have an avatar on here as its a projection of something about oneself. I'm not bothered in the least.
  2. I thought I had made a suggestion Wood.
  3. You'll need to get the BBC to hire a proper thermal camera for the report to make viewers think this is a professional assessment. Then show them that the same indicative results can be obtained with a smartphone and a camera dongle. Its all in the story telling. Otherwise you'll just look like some peeping tom.
  4. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39051964 Puff piece on Ebac, would make me give Ebac a preference if I was in the market for their type of products
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39107973 " More than one home every minute will need to be refurbished in the UK between now and 2050, experts say. A report to Parliament says 25 million existing homes will not meet the insulation standards required by mid-century. The UK needs to cut carbon emissions by 80% by then - and a third of those emissions come from heating draughty buildings. The government said it would devise policies as soon as possible." Time for my favourite phrase at the moment, 'Good luck with that!'
  6. You like? It was my first attempt at wallpapering, pirates for my little boy. I've seen worse..
  7. I know but I can buy 6m of 15mm speedfit pipe for the price of a 10 pack of those
  8. The missus tells me this is the best shampoo she's ever bought but I'm not convinced. Smells fishy to me...
  9. Shouldn't get mould, it's on the party wall. Its just with the skirting, the carpet and the wardrobe design, it was impossible to get it upright and against the wall.
  10. They're spacers for where I've restrained a wardrobe against a wall. There's a 100mm screw through the back of the 'robe into the wall. speedfit was the easiest thing to correctly size that I had to hand.
  11. Speedfit pipe award goes to...
  12. I’m pretty sure it’s a Flavel Windsor http://www.flavelfires.co.uk/media/mconnect_uploadfiles/f/l/flavel_windsor_installation_user_manual_b-67170-11_2.pdf They do list these panels as individual spares. https://www.dhsspares.co.uk/catalogue/appliance/item/flavel-windsor-classic-black-fla240/page/2 At least I now know they are described as fibre board panels. The children knocked over a fragranced oil diffuser which managed to splash oil over the fire (wasn’t on ) and that’s what I was trying to clean up when I rubbed the panel too robustly. Its going to be ‘interesting’ the next time I use the fire. (don’t worry, reasonable precautions will be taken – Fireman Sam on speed dial etc. )
  13. The bit that isn't dark The panel on the right hand side inside the fire recess is no longer jet black. The finish just rubbed off revealing the brown fibrous stuff underneath and a bobbled surface.
  14. The kids had an accident today And in trying to tidy up the mess, I inadvertently did this damage to the inside of the fireplace i was surprised how fragile this stuff was as I didn't rub it very hard and took off the top surface. Whatever it is made of, it appears to me no more substantial than black paint fibre notice board so the question is, is it still safe to use this gas fire? if not, is the component replaceable?
  15. that you think normal people maintain their hoovers (TM). You give people far too much credit. face it, the advertorial in question is probably financed by vent people and if it isn't I expect the magazine in question will be full of adverts of associated products.
  16. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/business/business-news/quooker-md-lays-down-challenge-12626936#ICID=nsm "Quooker MD urges manufacturers not to hike prices following Brexit vote Stephen Johnson, of Dutch boiling water tap specialist Quooker, says it is important that manufacturers demonstrate their practical support for the dealer network."
  17. I was in a pub recently, taking a leak, and noticed all the 40-50mm sized waste pipes were in copper. Not something you see very often. ill take a picture next time if anyone is interested
  18. So did they put some USB sockets up there while they were at it? That would be incredibly useful for those occasions your phone battery goes flat. "Excuse me, I just need to plug my phone in to charge."
  19. @MikeSharp01 Was it any good? To be honest I'm not interested in the build bit anymore but wonder whether the attached tool show is worth dropping into. I have the option for tickets in Manchester this weekend but it would be a waste of time if I did not have a clear reason to go.
  20. What are thoughts on flexi-induction zones? There’s a significant premium for them and frankly I don’t think we’ve ever really needed the function. Just glad I put my foot down and we have a normal centre ‘ring’ and 2 flexi zones on the 5 ring hob rather than the 3 flexi zones which would have cost even more than it already did. In fact, the first time she tried to use the flexi zone with a rectangular oven tray,(one of the supposed benefits) she burned the non-stick off the tray in some places. It wasn't until I started using induction that I realised how much cleaner they are kept than other hobs. the salesmen always tell you that but I never took any notice. When you use it though, you really notice how easy it is to keep spotless and not covered in dried on crud. FWIW, we did have some suitable pans anyway as we had been cooking on a standalone portable single ring induction hob for 8 months (which is what converted us to induction) but Neff also supplied some reasonable pans with the hob.
  21. So I went to the "station of tools" and looking at item 65907 in the catalogue, it looked pretty robust. bought it, did not look the same, took it home and opened it, it was not quite what I would have liked. I have used it but I am not 100% happy.
  22. My friend must be extremely unlucky then. Their own has been dodgy as well as enough they've supplied to warrant his concern.
  23. Indeed. A 3 way tap would be ideal for us due to the length of that hot leg but cost/reliability thoughts put us off at this stage.
  24. My friend in the trade does not rate them (qooker) - poor reliability.
