    Asbestos!

@PeterW It's required practice to seal the panels with a special paint so it prevents fibers from dislodged if it is Raw asbestos ... I spoke with our compliance officer at work (NHS) and he confirmed that it's the correct protocol. Belt and braces!!!

You are of course right but it's easier said than done when I was was responsible for keeping him safe

    Asbestos!

Thanks everyone, I'm panicking a bit less now! He is going to take a sample from the garage ceiling which he said is the same stuff. He charging me £1000 for bagging up and removing two shed walls and applying two coats of paint to the ceiling.... Have I been had? Haven't paid yet!

    Asbestos!

I've asked for analysis. Am I right in thinking that cement board was used externally as it was weatherproof but raw asbestos would degrade with rain ect?, My stuff has been exposed for years (not covered in anything) and hasn't degraded at all.

    Asbestos!

I've had a registered company remove it all plus sealed the ceiling in the garage. He said it was RAW asbestos.... The worst you could get. My concern is my young nephew put his foot though it when it was collapsed on the floor.... I'm terrified he might have inhaled some particles. The property is 1963 but I think the shed was about 80s. It's too late for analysis,, stuffs gone. I want someone to say it's cement asbestos and NOT raw, think he might have played on my fear (my Dad died of Mesothelioma!) Thanks for your input

    Asbestos!

Can anyone identify this? Think it's been up since the 70s
  7. Are these they?
  8. @PeterW. There is a dial on the black box with 3 settings, it's set to 3
  9. @Nickfromwales Motorised valves? Can you describe what I'm looking for? ... Or should I get a plumber in? Thanks a gain

  11. HiTwo image of system and pump. How do I know if the pump is failing? It seems to run smoothly and silent... Never had any issues with it How do I turn it up and know that it isn't working too hard? Pressure gauge is set to 2 bar

  13. @dpmiller. I measured the temp across the pipes in each rad until the multimeter showed a variation of about 12 degrees and on the flow and return on the boiler.... I though that was correct? @PeterWall the plungers work fine, I don't understand why some rads shut down and others don't! I kinda know the route they heat up in but it's a big house and I get confused easily! @Nickfromwales It's a Heatrea sadia sealed system about 8yrs old. Pump seems fine although it gets extremely hot, hotter than the rads! Last night I turned all the rads off bar the coldest and furthest from the boiler, it did heat up but still warmer at the top than the bottom and when I turned about half back on it cooled down again... Go on what happened, you can tell me !!!!
  14. @PeterW. I've long suspected the TVRs were dodgy but haven't got the money to change them.... Or skill.... Is there a cheats way of balancing the system? Last time I did it I was meticulous, measuring temp between pipes ect, took me the entire weekend!
  15. Should of mentioned this, The rads farthest from the boiler are the coldest... If one heats up what does that tell me? One is certainly now warmer at the top but cold at the bottom also some rads that I have 'turned off' remain very hot
  16. System is about 8yrs old Heatrea sadia
  17. All TVR are working.... Will try turning off and see what happens
  18. I balanced my heating system a couple of years ago and all 15 rads worked perfectly but now some have ceased to heat up.... Cold at the bottom, Luke warm at the top. Pipes at TVR end are hot, pipes at lockdhirld end stone cold.... Any ideas?!
  19. @ProDave You're right, I don't what I'm looking for but I'm sure it exists! I found this below.... Would that work? How much power does a table lamp draw? Enables you to operate your 230v UK standard appliances outdoors using a 12v car battery or portable 12v power source. 20. @ProDave.... Actual Led lamps are stupid expensive and ugly..... Want a regular lamp that I can plug into a portable power pack but don't know what I'm looking for @Ferdinand don't want ceiling light, too harsh, can't run cable as crosses too many doorways, can't put a socket off another one, don't want a nightlight/sensor @Tempdont want to smash hole in wall now it's all looking tickety boo!
  21. House is finished (ha!) but I've neglected to put a power socket on the landing. Can I use a portable power pack to run a table lamp off? Don't want to start hacking away to put a new socket in.... Ta
  22. Definitely only supporting the ceiling below so I feel confident it won't collapse!
  23. Oh poo! could I double up 12mm ply? It is only taking the weight of existing pb and the new poo pipe! So, is the strength of a joist compromised that much by notching? I've seen some massive chunks taken out and holes drilled!
  24. @nickfromwales.....how much can I notch out the top of 2x4 joists? These joists only support a plasterboard ceiling and the notches are needed to provide fall for a poo pipe
  25. I understand My 'method' was to avoid any unnecessary bends (which I assume is the ideal) cost isn't a factor here. The new poo pipe could then run straight from the corner socket straight to the new loo.......then I would know exactly where to notch the joists.....Plus the stack is very tight into the corner and I'm not sure I can get anything on or off it so I'm trying to utilise what is already there (Y joint ) Am I over thinking this ? I've, just got back from the builder yard with PB and battons to do the ceiling........i know where i am with ceilings
