  1. I ll simplify my original question.... How do I connect a new poo pipe into the old stack/bend while retaining existing set up.... The new loo will be on the other end of the black pipe (out of shot) and the old loo will go back in it's original position.... See image (obviously I've just laid the black pipe on top of joists for context!)
  2. @Triassic. I'm not stressing over the joists /notching as they are not supporting the floor above. (Working from low up) The lower joists are only supporting the ceiling below, then there is a 100mm void, then new joists, then floor. Do DIYers really take notice of BRegs anyway?! ? I have an organic approach! I see what you mean with the T but if you look at the image where I'm stood way back my position is where the second loo will be, with another loo sited under the small window next to the stack. So at what point along the small section of exposed joists in the image would I notch /run the pipe? Left along the wall, center or right of centre?
  3. This is what I'm using... The collar end is 130mm moulded onto 110mm pipe. They are 1.2m lengths.. Due to very restricted access I know to notch out the top of the lower joist but where along the joist do I notch? Close to the wall, center, right? I can't visualise how it will connect into the soil stack (next to the window in the image) will it connect to the stack or into the old 90 degree (first image)? I don't want to waste my time notching in one position only to have my plumber tell me it needed to be to the left or right.... See my dilemma
  4. It is 110 but it has a collar moulded to one end with a rubber seal inside.... Hence 130mm
  5. I am @PeterW ....but the gap is only 100mm and the pipe is 130mm. There is a void btewen the 2 sets of joists
  6. Makes total sense.... Now my current problem is the poo pipe.... I will be fitting two loos. One will replace an old loo so the stack and bendy pipe is already there, a new loo will sit 4m away and directly in front of the old one. To get any fall I need to notch out 5 joists. 1. How much must I notch out to get the fall? 2 where do I notch, to one side or the other of the existing poo pipe? Or directly in line. The first image is where the old loo will be replaced, the second and third is taken from the position of the second new loo and the run the pipe will take. (piece of wood balanced on joist is where the stud wall will be) I can't visualise how the new pipe will connect to the old pipe (first picture) Confused..... And all this happening while husband is cycling in Italy!!! Grrrr
  7. Hi @Nickfromwales With these concealed cisterns, am I right in thinking that wall hung loos need the steel frame type and floor mounted loos don't?
  8. Wow! I'm impressed..... That's genius (or am I too easily pleased) Love the animation too.... It's what husband does for a living Thanks @NickfromWales... ?
  9. Eh? What if the cyphon breaks or something needs repairing.... Where's the access? Would I make a removable panel above the pan.... Can't compute, I know I'm being thick
  10. OK, so I've parked that idea.... Too many unknowns. So, the cistern that sit inside the stud wall... Can they be accessed from the front for repairs ect?
  11. what's an air pipe ?
  12. Hmm, intersting considerations.....The drop would only be about 1.5 m with one 90 degree bend. ive' read somewhere about infrred controls for the flush ? @Nickfromwales I have been looking at these but there will be a shower on the other side of that wall where teh loo will sit....unless I sit the shower away from the wall and have a mobile shelf unit that I can wheel out to gain access to the cistern and shower valve. Space is tight though hence the reason for pushing the shower tight to the wall and having the cistern in the attic space.....In theory though, can it be done ?
  13. Not even started the interior......that's my next job although I will get a plumber in for the wet stuff.....dont trust myself !
  14. Can't take all the credit..... Husband was the brains of the operation! @PeterW.... Enjoyed it but not sure I would tackle another one.... But now I'm a world authority.... ?
  15. Ha ha, went to the pub though,!
  16. So my attention now turns to fitting out a bathroom and Cloakroom. Is it possible to fit a loo cistern in the loft? The Cloakroom had limited space and I'm reluctant to use a concealed cistern in the stud wall as there will be a shower on the other side
  17. To all you wonderful beautiful intelligent patient kind supportive blokes... I thank you! (Sorry for the rubbish photo)
  18. I've totally forgotten how to do this next job! Did loads but a long time ago I can remember taking the aluminium beads out, and for reasons I cannot recall I was advised to put small rubber wedges in, one on the bottom left and one top right side.... Any idea why ?? Then the glass went in, the beads snapped back and finally the rubber gasket on the inside.....
  19. Definitely a team effort! Disappointed that I had to compromise on using clay tile and a half but I was totally defeated in my search for concrete... So long as it keeps the rain out. Enjoyed using lead, a new challenge met Thanks for everyone's input, could not have done it without this forum!
  20. Quick visual on the roof...just the ridge to do and it's done!!!!
  21. Thank you!
  22. I've read the link... Is it the same process for valley tiles as I'm not doing a mitred valley. A roofer told me to put lead under just the first two valley tiles but wrapping around to tiles either side
  23. So just to get you in the loop... I'm building a hipped roof dormer. The cheeks will be clad with hardie planks. I imagine the ply, battons and cladding will overhang the tiles on the main roof below... Will I still need soakers?
  24. Hipped channel? Can you expand please .... I'm a complete amature and feeling my way through this particular roof
