  1. I had an original Logitech squeezebox player ( remember those ) . Loved it ! . Much later I heard about the raspberry pi version of this as Logitech had shut up shop on the player but had let Logitech media server be open source . Thought I would stick the original player on eBay and get maybe 20 quid for it . Actually sold it for more than I bought it for ! . So some people will buy the ‘obselete ‘ version so they can extend their eco system by delaying ‘upgrading’ .
  2. I’m not knocking any locked in system or anyone that goes that route . Just not for me . Didn’t know Sonos reverted on that . So is all Sonos ( old and new ) able to work freely together ? . As an ex software engineer I appreciate fully backwards compatibility becomes more and more a pain .
  3. I always liked the real challenge ones ( not I’ve enough money to make a mega curved roof because I can ) - a water tower one I thought was inspirational. Don’t watch it now - enough woke , snowflake stuff around already .
  4. The problem with a bought in ecosystem is that ignoring price ( though their ip cameras are hideously expensive for what they are ) . There’s nothing stopping UniFi at a later date deciding ‘protect 2 ultra ‘ is not backward compatible. Then you are effectively either running hardware that will become unsupported or spend a packet replacing . I recall Sonos doing something similar - Sonos owners who had bought into their system were somewhat upset . My view is to be largely manufacturer agnostic and also ‘current flavour ‘ free to choose I.e zigbee , z wave , matter , WiFi etc etc .
  5. Don’t know when you last updated frigate - but some months ago they improved this feature . It was pretty poor before ; a lot better now but not exactly blue iris
  6. Yeah I happened to come across grandstream but it’s an unfamiliar brand . Their video doorbell looks very industrial bit like doorbird . You can buy one and let me know what it’s like 😊
  7. That bit I like ! only video doorbell I’ve seen is the g4 pro
  8. Nope I’m not sure . Was talking to someone online who said it would be ok . I’m leaving this UniFi system alone . If I spend hundreds and buy a dream machine ( whatever ) then clearly I’d be alright . She ain’t worth it Tracey !
  9. UniFi eco system is a bit of a mess I think !
  10. Yes . I guess maybe to stop confusing to the other threaded end . But @ProDave when the action is on you ain’t gonna care if it’s screw or ribbed 😉
  11. Apparently a UniFi express will solve my issues I.e cheapest option …
  12. The end goes into a rubber trap . That then has a reducing rubber which takes it down to 21mm pipe . The mvhr came with all this - so obviously I just used it . Making another seems more trouble than it’s worth . I’ve sourced everything else just this fitting .
  13. So the ribbed one is called a 32mm Female Inlet Nut x 1.1/4" inch BSP Male Connector McAlpine 90° Bend - S4U Ordered one and will see if I can bodge it to fix .
  14. Could always file the ribs off I suppose . Or just fill the rib gaps with ct1 ? The fitting this end goes into is rubber so assume would fit with a push
  15. Yep - I found that . Wasn’t keen on 50 quid for the lot ! Screwfix do something similar but ribbed again
  16. It came with the mvhr - I need another . It’s the drain vent outlet . So screws into that then smooth end slides into water less flexible trap .
  17. I thought this would be easy to find. presumably I don't know exactly what it is called. Screw fitting is 32mm So it's an elbow but the thread is reversed i.e. it screws upwards. So like a 90degree conversion bend but screws upwards ( hope that makes sense ) I looked at threaded elbow drain threaded elbow 32mm elbow can't seem to find it... Nearest I've found is this https://www.bes.co.uk/polypipe-32-mm-white-threaded-coupling-solvent-11867/ or maybe this? https://www.toolstation.com/mcalpine-compression-bsp-connections-bend-90/p62086?store=null&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&mkwid=_dc&pcrid=null&pkw=null&pmt=null&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD-vLcVa5oxgpUmv6KLSvo8W1HJDI&gclid=CjwKCAiA0rW6BhAcEiwAQH28IpW2puBtiAGeNWUHrUg0QczTpzLtjOM2H1swydNIFvQ9tGmzuqwRIhoCJEQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Assume the 'ribbed' end isn't an issue... could stick rubber washers over it I guess... What is it called!
  18. I have ( had ! ) something similar . It wasn’t obvious how the water was getting in . I got my roofer to render the entire stack as we suspected that . Water still gets in ! . His next suggestion was he will have to strip the roof around the stack and possibly ( depending on what he finds ) remove the entire stack . Not much help to you though ….
  19. Loxone users be like …
  20. Yeah I’ve moved my chime so it’s as near as possible to the front door . Mine ( since the last firmware update ) does occasionally get stuck in infra red mode I.e comes on a night but doesn’t turn off . Reboot through the reolink app seems to fix it . The reolink video doorbell is the best for a poe , no subscription, with chime doorbell . Just wish they’ve bring out a v3 ; where the chime is poe . Integrates nice into Home assistant - so use frigate for any detection uses .
  21. I do . Been having issues where it loses its pairing with the chime which of course renders it somewhat useless . They sent me another (v2) which I think is worse . I believe they changed the wireless frequency between models . What I really want is the UniFi g4 because the chime is poe like the unit so no proprietary wireless issues . Persevering for now with reolink until I can find something else suitable .
  22. Yeah no UniFi stuff . So it’s not like I’m adding it to an existing ‘protect’ network . I hate all subscription stuff .
  23. Don’t have the doorbell yet - was going to order it . I don’t like being tied in by any manufacturer. If I get a hikvision , reolink etc etc etc up camera I’m free to chop and change at will . You would think a trivial video doorbell would be similar . Most want subscriptions . It’s unclear for example if you get ring and don’t subscribe can you still access your streams ? . Also ( as they are owned by Amazon ) the ‘30 days free’ could be capped at any point . As much local for me as possible … Unifi stuff seems really pricey - not convinced it’s particularly better . I guess it’s aimed at more ‘corporate’ so bumps the price .
  24. This is where it gets confusing as I kept reading you need a cloud key , ud , dream thing otherwise I believe you have no remote access . It’s not clear at all . I read basic config from the UniFi app is possible . But I really shouldn’t need a seperate ‘ cloud key ‘ hardware running .
  25. It’s a hardware device . Part of UniFi is to drag you into their cash cow !
