Oi new boy ! Don’t you dare come on this forum and try and steal my crown ! Been building for 11 yrs ; recently got sign off but still a good few bits to do . Took me 5 yrs to get planning . That makes 16 yrs in ‘self build journey’ scale . So don’t (expletive deleted)ing come on ‘er with a baby 8 yrs . Repost in another 8 - then we will see . (expletive deleted)ing newbies trying to bend me over the barrel and take my crown !

Done this on our build . Not difficult I.e I did it . All the trim etc adds up massively . Looks great but easy to scratch and the so called matching touch up paint doesn’t match .

I think what you have to remember ( forgive negativity ) . LPA don’t want it to pass , locals ( or nowhere near ! ) don’t want it to pass . So when the council gets so much ‘refuse permission’ kick back it’s FAR less hassle to go that route . It took me 5 yrs to get planning . LPA were against it all the way . My 23 opposing neighbors ( aka (expletive deleted) ) worked together to form as many objections as possible . Again , remember , valid objections can override hundreds of other objections. Overwhelm the LPA and they’ll win . I went to a LPA meeting with 130 reasons to reject ( council and neighbors ) . Hours later that was whittled down to 3 valid I.e planning reasons . Record all conversations is a MUST ( recording pen is good as you’ll be expected to turn your phone off ) .

Well maybe - just thought a nice spray would be easier for my laziness . Think of a ( wait for it ) walk on glazing upstand . Not THAT one - these are Lightwells external to the build .

Yeah , also access is tricky - can’t actually get low enough too see what I’m doing ; hence was thinking maybe a spray like for example

Sorry yeah ! It’s just rain getting in that gap . Grabbed a random photo of internet . So this type of ‘gap’ - just want to piss / spray something along that bit where the timbers meet .

A smashed ceiling on the floor perhaps ?

It’s external - so not a real issue , just awkward . Think of 2 pieces of timber screwed together . You would get that slight gap between the timbers - it’s that bit I need to fill . Did paint them with waterproof liquid rubber but as awkward couldn’t get the brush in there ( can’t actually see into that gap so painted blind ) . So I guess I need maybe a spray type waterproofing solution ( spray and hope ! ) . See them online - just wondered if anyone recommends a specific one / brand . None of this will be visible when done so messiness not an issue !

Though my ceiling system isn’t the same it’s similar . I just chucked one down the centre of the room and then did the required distance from that to the next run . Distance from wall didn’t care ; no sagging etc is all I cared about .
