  2. Spoke to vac panel ! 40mm gives a u of 0.18 :-)))) Thry are happy with concrete board on top , waterproofing and then concrete pour . price will be around £110 a sq metre ?
  3. Regular reinforced- can’t remember exact depth ( will check ) but can guess 100mm

  6. Lol the parking area would probably just about take the size of an average car ! i think total depth for this insulation is around 20mm ( which is amazing ! ) . Will contact a firm tomorrow too see ! undoubtedly £££££££ will be distressing !

  9. Yes ! They sound great and expensive! i am still waiting on Kingspan to call me back - must be a way to cover them safely with screed / concrete ...
  10. Yep ascetics only. SWMBO not a fan of 'stamps' (so that's a dead solution). Could use patio pavers ; 30mm or so?; grabs back another 20mm. U value the issue really; looking into Kingspan vacuum insulation; U value incredible!
  11. Quite possibly a steel inner frame ( yes parking is just the middle section ) who knows what’s right ? just following se and architect as best as possible . cheers
  12. Yeah ; it’s all possible . This would need to be designed though . Se did say that the rebar needs 35mm cover to stop corrosion - so galvanised steel could be used to reduce cover . Looking at the Kingspan product does seem to take a loading of 160kpa . They must have an se themselves that would ‘design’ something that’s meets my criteria - at a cost of course !!! cheers

  14. Haven’t got enough depth for 120mm just spoke to se the 75mm extra pour isn’t structural in the true sense - it’s simply to stop the insulation crushing!! hmmmmm , now what are those super expensive high compression good u value blocks called ? ( about a tenner each ! ) .... foamglass .....
  15. So ! assuming my architect will allow me to drop compressive strength from 300kpa - need to find the thinnest and best u value pir available . Kingspan I guess .....
  16. Right ! spoke to everyone about aerogel you can pour concrete on top - won’t compress much. But it’s u value isn’t as great as perceived ! . Roughly same u as twice the thickness of pir . I’ve read up to 6 times better - but not true ....
  17. Architect says no way to chip board / osb I did think this seemed bad in a concrete sandwich !! unhappy with insulation on ceiling !!! its effectively a warm room structure - so must keep to that !
  18. Sticking all the insulation underneath does help ! . I’ll call my architect - but he’s always unhappy if it hasn’t “ gone to plan “ .....

  20. That’s the problem ! i haven’t got the depth to stick 120mm in . surely underneath I.e on the ceiling with MVHR condensation not an issue ??
  21. Yes - the insulation thickness is an issue at 50mm . So there’s no problem if I ignore the insulation ; but insulate underneath - even thicker if I wish ??

  23. Thanks balustrade??? Lol there isn’t any ? I did suggest to the Architect to cast the drainage channel in situ ; but he wasn’t happy and wanted standard anco type product .haunched ontop the grp and obviously flush with finished level . total area is question is approx 6m x 6m cheers
  24. ? I’ll attempt ! reinforced concrete : this is done high compressive insulation : only 50mm ( meant to be 120mm ) causes me issues anyway osb ? If using edpm or just grp : this will add 20mm reinforced poured concrete : SE wants 75mm chippings : whatever :-) sand :-) whatever driveway blocks : 50mm as you can see 180mm at the front is an issue . upstands ; well glass is 64mm ; so 100mm for up stands min . grp or edpm not structural . nothing either side of drainage channels . One near the house to ‘protect’ it ; other to deal with run off from sloped finish . cheers
  25. I have found quite a few ‘balcony’ type arrangements with concrete on edpm for extra strength . But yes ; it’s not the standard . But who wants a standard house ?
