Correct I did ask he said can lay crossbonded or not makes no difference . Nailing he said no point on such a shallow slope ; the nail hole was really for vertical tiles . These are not wavy tiles . They are interlocking tiles ( not sure if that's clear from the photo ). i suppose as they overlap each other the chance of a tile 'moving' must be difficult as the tile above it is holding it down .

I was surprised he didn't nail a single tile nor lay them cross bonded .....

Right! Not quite finished. Ran out of tiles and some plastic. Arrived 7:15am ; left 1:30pm. At peak maybe 11 guys on there whom then disappear after a few hours. Certainly can't fault the work so far! Should mention I have used this 'builder' once before. But he's a fecking nightmare to deal with! ; "guess the price", "extras mate" , "Need 1k now to keep the lads happy" all the usual BS - so I was prepared. On the initial inspection before we'd even agreed/argued a price he had called the scaffolder to attend and start erecting anyway! They work their bollocks off though! - but not surprised taking the cost into account!!!

Completely sober ! tbh it's a really old photo ; like 12yrs + must do a new one ; more extreme!!

LOL! My genuinely original quote did sound too good that no-one had done it before!

Bit the bullet; opened the wallet. Roofer on tap.

Well! I've solved my problem. Have roofer and scaffold going up as we speak. Not the cheapest obviously!. along that bloody lane.... Oh no!; it's Friday and a bank holiday on Monday!. So by the time the council come and inspect/complain (i.e. Tuesday) it'll all be down - what a shame. Paid a premium for the "start it now" approach - but it gets done quickly.
-
Better to be a coward once than dead forever ! I made that up but it sounds good!
-
Yeah you can!.

Once I did a tree walk I have a harness and walk among the tree tops half my brain knows there's no issue if I fall . The other half is flipping out end up fighting yourself - causing some anxiety mess . Logic tells me I'll be ok ; but half my head is in auto panic mode at heights . always been that way though I have absailed and para glided . Enjoyed both those immensely as you can imagine !!

To my wank pot neighbours it's a motorway if it blocks planning !!!
-
Close the lane fully. Then have some complex diversion signs like 'use the other entrance' - or something. Nice earner for the council!
-
It's only about 1m wide!
-
I wish it were that simple. I'm bailing on this task!
-
You know. I can close it with a TTRO for £1860 and an 8 week lead time!!!!! Or I can get a scaffold license for £100 and just go for it - making sure all the miserable neighbours can walk under it i.e. their public right of way still exists.
-
Can't do it! Legs go and feel sick. Just can't deal with it! FFS! FFS! Getting a quote for a roofer - only need labour and maybe scaffold costs ; have all the materials. So disappointed! ; wanted to do it ALL!
-
Well; it's more tricky than that. It's a lane with no owner - not an adopted highway. I've done hoarding etc. along it before with no issue i.e. made it safe. Council don't want responsibility and as there is no owner no one to object or communicate with. So it's not (I guess) public highway; but is listed as a 'private lane' .......
-
Ok ! Lol so pricing seems a bit random . it is for a walkway - I would guess for 1 month
-
Hey all, Looking for a reasonable guess price. I need scaffold to straddle a 1m wide pathway (i.e. so people can still walk under it). About 9ft high and 10m long. perhaps with a nice staircase access one end. Anyone able to guess something on that so I know how well I'm doing when getting quotes?!

Thanks. Fills me with confidence!
