  1. So should I bend the dpc timber up onto the studs and nail it ? (only about a 30mm overhang) Then DPM 60cm wide around edges and up stud. Then that permagard membrane over the lot?
  2. Surely I just need vcl Installer suggests https://www.permagard.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/1532 Doesnt want black
  3. You made it up good ! . I’m going with that ! Might have to pack between vertical timbers as membrane could sag between when screed goes on .
  4. True - it would be lost with pb etc . yeah upstand pir 50mm So this type of thing ? Dpc overhang pushing the back pir out hence why I want to know if just taking a Stanley knife to it and trimming flush to timber frame ok .
  5. I can ignore the lip and do this ? Can I trim the dpc under the timber frame as it gets in the way ?
  6. Confused myself now . The original photo was upstand at finished screed - but that then means the edges won’t have any screed over them !!
  7. So you are suggesting potentially this type of affair ?
  8. Horizontal timber is base of timber frame
  9. No Here’s a better photo
  10. Hmmmmmm looking back at other photos i’m Not so sure now ! . Should the upstand be the same height as the floor pir ? I.e in my case 150mm - so it’s all flush ??
  11. So in essence this ! ( with upstand at far end of course )
  12. Step in block work at front wall - can’t remember why . Pack out with pir ; then our upstand in place . Just demo at the moment until someone says it’s wrong . If ok will foam in
  13. Floor to top of timber frame is 23cm My floor has to be 50mm higher than planned . So I assume 150mm pir allows plenty ( 60mm ish ) for ufh and screed .
  14. UFH company says for upstairs "We recommend a heavy duty 500G (polythene gauge) / 125m u (micron thickness) polythene membrane for the vapour barrier, green/clear so that you can see any markings made below." I'm guessing by "marking below" he means any markings I place on the PIR to show (for example) where I don't want pipework.
  15. Ok - this is where I’m getting confused is dpm , membrane , vcl the same thing by different names in this context ??
  16. We will be having tiles . My doorways are part on the blockwork that the timber frame sits on . So not entirely sure what you mean . Will take a photo tomorrow
  17. Ok. I'm on beam and block ( upper floor!) So! DPM around room taped up the sides. PIR on that taped + PIR up stands DPM over that taped up the sides yeah? What about the holes for return and flow fo UFH?. Mine are coming up through the block floor. I don't think expanding foam likes plastic pipework. So what do I fill that with?; also assume just tape around the holes to DPM
  18. A question ! As I had to raise my outside ‘floor’ by 50mm so my internal floor will raise . Currently doorway openings are lower . Do I need to raise them ? I.e can I let the screed ‘run’ from one room to the other - or should each room be screeded individually - so screed doesn’t run across doorway
  19. Why dpm under pir ? i was just going to do pir , pir upstands and dpm over that
  20. Can’t remember the stepoc size but I think it was one less than the largest . Stone is sat on a separate footing . We had a gap between the stepoc and the lane so just did a concrete pour in the gap . Not very wide - maybe 40cm . i stuck a land drain around the base outside the stepoc . Covered it in chippings to aid drainage . We had very little gap between dug hole and external insulation. Our dig out was all rock so couldn’t use to backfill
  21. Sigh yes . i guess I shouldn’t worry as I know where the issue is .
  22. Annoyingly looks worse today !! ?
  23. One of ( our many ) grandsons is blind . The excitement for him in using a toilet and hear it cut the Poo ? up is hard to quantify !! - it’s off the scale !! So I must keep my promise and let him have a macerator - until I go spare when he busts it with super sh*t !!!
  24. https://www.vesternet.com/eutonomy-eufix-adapter-din-for-fibaro-relay-switch-2x1-5kw-with-push-buttons?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk56BoLa-4QIVTbTtCh0fJgG1EAQYASABEgIWxfD_BwE#fo_c=521&fo_k=54c06867897d66966dfa9ce8f27a2385&fo_s=gplauk @Nickfromwales yeah ???
  25. Z wave seems solid and good - so I trust it . Yes ; tons of nerdy home automation. i guess what I was really asking is there a certain type of manifold I should look at ? . Exactly what z wave components should I look at to activate the manifold ; just a simple relay type affair ???
