This is why self build is even more important. I’m sure it exists but most self builders don’t build THAT crap . At one of my planning meetings I asked why such shite is allowed to be built by developers . They didn’t respond ; so I guessed as already mentioned ; quantity over quality ; which in turn maximises the developers return .

@flanagaj Typical council So it has to conform with everything even though there’s an entire mix of building styles . We had exactly the same issue . Firstly ignore the fact that the neighbors will object ; (expletive deleted) ‘em My solution to this was a design that took ‘elements’ of neighbouring properties I.e a nod to them . Similar roof tiles for example to ‘ blend ‘ it better . You have a nearby house with stone . Perhaps integrate that as a feature . Of course this is really for the architect to come up with .

No i emailed dimensions ( with no nib ) When I went in to choose granite guy drew a sketch and put those measurements on it . He added the nib and I didn’t notice I.e ask him to add the nib depth to the overall depth . So my fault I guess . Not to worry though ! ???

Is it me or is it them ? Ffs Sill in . I gave them depth from window to edge of plasterboard because I didn’t know how ‘big ‘ the nibs are . They’ve cut it but included the nib returns in the total depth not added them . Obviously it will be my fault . Was thinking anyway if silicone along that edge looked crap would fit some nice chrome bead - guess I’ll have too now . Guess I can’t measure anything correctly ?

I cook loads . My justification for anything is if I use it a lot it’s worth the cost . I’ll buy expensive trainers ( not because they are expensive) wear then for everything and knacker them in 6 months . Kitchen stuff is ‘ special ‘ in my opinion . If you intend to live in it and can afford it get what you want provided you use it . Reminds me of a self build show I went to in Birmingham many years ago . There was a gorgeous looking sponsored Nigela kitchen cabinet . Looked fab . I asked the sales guy how much ? . He said 8k . He then said “ you didn’t flinch , so you can afford it “ . I said no (expletive deleted)ing chance and walked away . Nice or not 8k for a cupboard just doesn’t sound like value for money too me . If the mrs bubbly big N came to my house to install it I would of handed over 100k on the spot ; and required new pants instantly.

? Only boiled a saucepan of water with it so far . It’s in a temporary kitchen in the unfinished house . Be a few months before we move in and really use it .
