  1. Always the plan but not always the reality . Always carry a condom just in case 😉
  2. Yes - it was just for me because I am a bit special .
  3. In hand ( not in situ ) plug a spigot into a fitting and test it a few times . If you find it easy to dismount ( remember not in situ - so will be easier anyway ) then go for it . If after 5 attempts and swearing - you might decide otherwise 😁
  4. Rule of thumb spigots can be more difficult to demount than standard fittings . I had a spigot fitting in place and for the love of god I couldn’t demount it ( admittedly access was awkward ) so I cut the hep20 pipe either side and installed a standard fitting . I had a PM from the moderators telling me to be more helpful to the buildhub community. It indicated I should be more forceful on my approach as a non professional yet self builder . No monetary incentives were offered .
  5. 💩 I have the plastic demounters and the metal spanner type. Spigots can sometimes be tricky . Indeed after fighting and swearing I have demounted one ; used it elsewhere and it leaked - so assume I damaged it . @ToughButterCup seems to also have experienced this . Too many attempts to demount ( spigot or standard fitting ) I bin for peace of mind . As @Thorfun pointed out - he’s going into the manifold ; so for peace of his mind IF he needs to demount don’t use a spigot . @Nickfromwales you are wrong . You are no longer the resident expert on such things ; I am . Because I’ve done it , busted the fixing , swore , caused the leak , swore , fixed it , swore and then posted real world experience of such things . word ! 🤛
  6. Yeah yeah bs . Those spigots can be a bitch to get out especially if the angle is tight - 90 degree spigot into 90 degree hep20 . I decided ( for the sake of risking a failed connector ) that a spigot fitting is a 1 way fitting ( unless it demounts instantly ) . This is now hep20 law .
  7. Yes !
  8. Ah right ! Didn’t realise this was going straight into your manifold - just assumed another ‘cheap’ hep20 fitting . Don’t use spigot on manifold , new rule 🙄👍😎🤣
  9. Sometimes they do come out . But with such effort and swearing in my part I worry I’ve busted the fitting and it will leak . So rule is use spigot - never remove spigot
  10. Buy new fittings . They are cheap - don’t worry .
  11. I’ve used them when I have too ( or all I had on site ) . If wrong ( and you can’t undo them ) just remove it . You’ll use it somewhere else for sure .
  12. This is also true . Spigot end in - it never comes out !
  13. Yes . The ‘funny’ end just goes straight into any hep20 fitting 👍. Too slow @Nickfromwales
  14. Not checked mine . But as a small form factor relatively low spec I’d hope its current draw is low . But I need to check this . Tbh our electric bill is zero ( consumption- export ) - so probably not a real issue in our circumstances.
  15. This is one of the reasons my HA is on a NUC with ups . The pi’s are great for somethings though . I use max2play as the streamer but you can configure it so it never writes to the SD card once booted . This solves lots of issues during any power outage . Storage wise pi is I think a bit unreliable with ssd / usb ; so I have a dedicated nas with raid . Of course this all costs wonga …
  16. Fitted the trv One thing I did notice opening it from 1 to 5 caused the internal mechanism to move a lot . Reality the pin only needs to move a few mm . So it’s unlikely to work properly I.e it’s either fully on or off . But (expletive deleted) it
  17. Single self build dinner again with my Dewalt friends . Homemade Bombay aloo and chicken tikka , oh and pouilly fume 👍😁
  18. You’re doing good . Some of us are lifers .
  19. Might aswell be . Zero plumbers on this forum ! . Got the Allen key trv - will try fitting it Thursday . Await an update from myself as the newly appointed heating engineer.
  20. Hmmmm . Oh yeah forgot to mention I hate corn as it tastes like shit .
  21. Oh how I SO wish for a FU emoji
  22. I’ll tell you all something- it’s a slow night tonight for sure on here . Ask @Nickfromwales …. 😋
  23. All good apart from the corn . Can’t digest it so what’s the point .
